  1. In fairness, we can’t bin too many until we actually have guys in. As rubbish as they may be, we do need enough bodies to actually field a team.
  2. Happy with that. That’s five out so far. Hopefully, several more join them out the door and several more come in the door.
  3. Wow. A dreadful game and an easy three points for Stenhousemuir. There were about four opportunities in the entire match - Stenhousemuir scored two of them, we missed one and then scored immediately after it but you just never felt that Stenhousemuir were in any danger there. The two goals we gave away were just so cheap from a Clyde perspective. For the first, Anderson (who I felt was the best player on the park) was given the freedom of Hamilton to run through us and for the second, a cross hits the bar and, naturally, we’re nowhere near the rebound. Not that I blame Jack Leighfield particularly for the second goal but he just fills me with no confidence whatsoever and you could tell that he was miles away from dealing with that cross. Stenhousemuir looked so comfortable until Taylor’s awful challenge. After that, we still didn’t ask enough questions but pulled a goal back late on with Dunnachie bundling in after we produced a hilarious miss seconds before with Ji Stevenson nearly clearing the ball for a throw in. I felt Ray Grant again made a wee bit of a difference and we could really do with him starting games soon. As I mentioned earlier, we really missed Martin Rennie, and Young and Leslie upfront didn’t look like working for a second which gave Buchanan and Jamieson an easy game at the back. We’d probably have been more effective had we taken a leaf out of Arbroath’s book and stuck Neil Parry on up top. The Elgin result made this a terrible day for us and we better hope that Howie, Hamilton and Leitch all make a difference for us, with hopefully another couple in before the Bonnyrigg game too. We’re desperately crying out for someone direct in the midfield so hopefully Leitch gives us that. It’s six points at the half-way point and we’ve still to play Elgin three times, so our new signings will need to hit the ground running. We desperately need a left-back, a goalkeeper and another striker as a minimum.
  4. Well in the game but missing quality. We’ve lacked quality all season but we’re really up against it with Rennie out this week, very little up that end at all. Need to do better at the goal too. Walked through far too easily. Roll on next week!
  5. Aye big miss today after he had a good game last week. Good to see Connor Scullion turn up for a wee cheerio cameo.
  6. Hadn’t realised that Championship Manager legend Mark Kerr has joined our coaching team.
  7. Having just driven from Glasgow to Cumbernauld to (possibly) get my dad for the game. The snow seemed worse in the West. Given it’s largely passed, if they can clear the pitch I’d imagine the game would be fine for 3pm.
  8. From the Clyde Twitter account: “Our Fanzone will be open tomorrow from 12.30pm. Both Clyde and @StenhousemuirFC fans are welcome The Glasgow Derby will be shown on the TV’s. Both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks are on offer with hot food also being available.” Just incase any Stenhousemuir fans hadn’t seen it, seeing as you haven’t visited us at New Douglas Park. Drinks are usually pretty reasonably priced but, as a heads up, I have had a couple of occasions where I’ve needed cash to purchase food.
  9. Aye, Howie, Hamilton and Leitch look to be three good additions on paper and they have me feeling much more confident we’ll avoid the dreaded spot as Club 42. With Maitland talking about knowing what positions we still need to strengthen in, I’m expecting to see, at least, a competent left back, centre forward and a goalkeeper come in during the window. As for tomorrow’s game, given we’re stuck with the same bunch of jobbers we’ve had since August, I’m under no illusions how difficult the game will be. McCall has us looking more organised but Stenhousemuir are on a fantastic run and will rightly be confident. I’d be absolutely delighted to take anything from the game but in truth am expecting a defeat in this one. The real excitement for me lies beyond this game when we can see who else joins the ins and outs of this Barry Ferguson-esque transfer window!
  10. Thank Ally, again much appreciated and best wishes.
  11. Thanks for pointing that out David. Took me a second to realise what I’d done, but that’s me got to deal with several Clownshoes related occurrences of PTSD now!
  12. Hello again all, sorry to come on here again having poached another player from you but ROBBIE Leitch (definitely not Jason) has signed for Clyde. Is he up to scratch for our current level? I’ve heard of him but can’t say I know too much about him.
  13. Another good signing that. Have to assume we’re looking at getting rid of at least one of Grant, Sula or Carswell though? Sula, Hamilton, Dunachie and Howie would be a good set of centre halves at this level and Peter Grant’s not been too dreadful too recently.
  14. Interesting our Twitter has just put out a Tweet about Howie’s goal at Peterhead. He is back from Aus… maybe putting two and two together here and getting five but who knows?
  15. Clyde need to address issues in the following positions: Goalkeeper Full Back (both sides) Lee Hamilton is a good addition at Centre Half. Centre Midfield Wide Midfield (if McCall is planning on playing a formation with wingers) Centre Forward Apart from that the squad’s in great shape! Certainly sounds like January will be a busy month for the club and I’m trying desperately not to get my hopes up too much as I’ll only be bitterly disappointed.
  16. Looked more than that sitting in the back row of the stand. We had a decent following (more than I thought we would in all honesty) but I felt that the home end looked pretty busy too.
  17. Och away you go, if you can’t celebrate scoring two goals in injury time to take something from a game you thought was gone a few minutes earlier then when can you?
  18. Hard to tell about the penalty call on my phone screen from there. I’ll be honest, at the time I genuinely hadn’t even realised it was for the attempted block of the cross rather the effort that followed. Leighfield’s got to do better with that second goal despite the deflection IMO.
  19. Who’d have ever thought in say October 2020 that Ian McCall would ever describe the Clyde support going mental as “lovely”? Truthfully, he could still wear his Thistle joggies and as long as he makes us a better football team, I wouldn’t care!
