  1. I think I could have headed that penalty off the line.
  2. Definitely not far off it. Attacking options were off the scale compared to what we're used to. Frank McAvennie was at the club as well, and made his breakthrough the following season. Somner (for us) and McDougall (for Aberdeen) were both top scorers in the Premier League in their day. Elsewhere in the side, Steve Clarke's signing wasn't far off and there are a few others you could make a case for.
  3. From the days when a top English team would send a full strength side up here for a half arsed friendly on FA Cup weekend, just to give them a game because both sides were out of their respective cups, St Mirren v Arsenal, 15th Feb 1981. http://www.stmirrenprogrammes.co.uk/StMirren/STM_Match_Details.php?Season=1980&GameID=198102150
  4. I remember this happening to peak old Rangers when they were light years ahead but slipped up at home to Motherwell, or someone, causing their party to be cancelled. Super Scoreboard/Daily Record hotline actually full of mutants raging about it.
  5. f**k, I wasn't really notcing the clock graphic, but now I can't see anything else. It's like when you end up with a shit song in your head.
  6. Group stage draw is usually during the last week of May.
  7. I'm following it on Wikipedia as I watch. Haven't seen much film on this guy.
  8. Travis Kelce is like someone parodying Travis Kelce.
  9. Player fashion choices all a bit 'Jack Ross' so far.
  10. Very true. We'll have to assume Andy Roddie was operating in midfield given that there aren't any other midfielders in the line-up. I remember this game. I think it was night time game with only one or two stands open. I notice a certain Eddie Howe is in the Bournemouth side. Whatever happened to him?
  11. I've just sat throught this and can confirm it's a good watch. It got me looking up his playing career while I was watching. Although he operated mostly in the lower leagues, he was on the park with a lot of the top guys of that generation at one time or another. He played against the likes of Gerrard, Lampard, Shearer and the Arsenal team with the likes of Seaman, Adams, Ian Wright and co and also played agaisnt the Spain team of the Iniesta and Xavi era. He must also be at least an acquaintance of Rio Ferdinand given their history at Bournemouth. I also cheked out whether he played in the Bournemouth team that came to Love Street for a friendly in 1998, and it turns out that, not only did he play, but he also scored the winning goal. http://www.stmirrenprogrammes.co.uk/StMirren/STM_Match_Details.php?Season=1998&GameID=199807220
  12. Sky running through the upcoming fixtures in the EPL as though Man City aren't playing Arsenal on Wednesday on BT.
  13. I think there 18 possible permutations of today's results and 16 of those would have put us in the top six, so it would have been an all timer if it somehow hadn't come off.
  14. There was a TV commercial spawned by this and it was featured very briefly in 'Tackle', the Only an Excuse that was aired just before the 1990 World Cup Final. The video starts at the offending moment:
  15. Luis Figo came on as a sub in the World Cup Qualifier at Ibrox in 1992.
  16. Remember the Great Escape graphic? Great Escape? The were fucking top of the league at one stage.
  17. Why does Rodri make shorts look like Simon Cowell's troosers?
  18. Got a defender on a yellow now for getting hit by the ball when he was specifically doing his best not to get hit by it.
  19. Kenny McLean had a red card rescinded after a Collum special in new year game with Kilmarnock a while back. I had a decent view of the play and my jaw was on the floor when he did his wee excited sprint towards the 'incident' waving his red card. You give him the benefit of the doubt, thinking you must have missed whatever he saw, then you see the TV replays and, sure enough, nothing.
  20. Willie Collum had an article a while ago where he was bemoaning people judging him before he's even on the park. I gave the irony police a call at the time due to some of the cards he's handed out Jim Goodwin for the crime of being Jim Goodwin.
