Aye, and he'll be one of those who will sit on tv, radio or at his laptop and say "we don't know much about the Armenians" (emm, that's your job mate - to find out about these teams) before having a go at the Scottish side for going out to a side they know nothing about, from a league they know nothing about.

His legs had gone when he left Killie. -
No we don't. Obadeyi may be out, but we still have Higginbotham, McKenzie and Kiltie as out-and-out wingers and Magennis and Splaine who can play there if required. Hodge seems to be getting a good few run-outs in pre-season which hopefully means he'll be part of the squad this season. So I imagine we'll possibly bring a young left-back in to challenge Smith and that'll be that.

Christ, that's some amount of hyperbole there. Things have been good since Rangers left the scene, but a "new dawn"?! We still have massive issues within our game, and it'll take a while before we reach anything close to what you're describing. I love Scottish football, but to suggest that we've turned some sort of corner just because Rangers aren't in the top league anymore is laughable. The "full" interview is available on the Kilmarnock Standard website FWIW, where he actually talks about Kilmarnock. Funny that people will have a go at the Daily Record/Sun/BBC for crowbarring the Old Firm in when it suits them, and then use it as a point-scoring contest when it suits them.

They also know that should they venture on the night bus to Glasgow, the majority of men on a night out there wouldn't give them a second glance. Whereas the pool is so small in towns like Kilmarnock that they are likely to be viewed as being much higher up the pecking order than they actually are. A good move from the lassies. -

That article remains to this day the most perfect example of partisan Scottish journalism. From the made-up anecdote filled with hyperbole, designed to make you sympathetic with the protagonist ("crisp", "big man"); to the straight-faced request for Thistle to spend outwith their means (a couple of paragraphs before mentioning how the BoD had saved the club, no less); to the fact that Collins' managerial record that season only merits 21 words in the whole piece, none of which mention his results specifically; right up until the now infamous 'nest of vipers' line. Perfection. I hear Chick going on about how Euro 2016 will be his swansong in 'journalism' and that he hopes to be there covering Scotland in France. There's a bit of me that hopes we don't qualify just so his final dream won't come true.

The chairman is running for a place on the SPFL board, so no surprise to see him playing to the gallery there. The top flight has certainly been a better place since they were liquidated, unless of course you're a fan of 90 minute bigot-athons. Is it perfect? Far from it. However there has been a helluva lot of entertainment on show, which signals to me anyway that we're heading in the right direction. Jim Mann has spoken so well about community engagement, youth development etc lately; so I wish he'd continue to talk the game up rather than join the (mainly) Glaswegian media in their never-ending quest for negativity. This just shows however that there is still a massive disconnect between the board and the majority of fans when it comes to the artist formally known as Rangers.

Not even that. The Herald subs to England, which causes no end of issues considering those doing the sub-editing are unlikely to have an in-depth knowledge of Glasgow or the surrounding areas. Once spotted Killie changed to Killy in a match report. Other papers actually use sub-editing offices in India, which surely can't work? As a general rule of thumb, you should always do your own sub-editing to an extent before any article is sent off. I understand wanting to meet 'deadlines' or get your piece up first, but it should always be better to get it up a few minutes later and accurate, than early and a mess. Take note, "Senior Football Correspondent".
