  1. ICYMI - an interview with Peter Leven here. Talks of passing football https://youtu.be/Icuitj07ZjE
  2. Disagree completely. There's no reason why it would demonise people if it was handled properly. Fans could come into the shop/ticket office with proof of their benefits (or a letter from the social etc) and get a ticket before match day. Then they're just walking in on a Saturday like anyone else.
  3. We have two right backs (Barbour/Westlake), a left back (Smith), two players who can play at left back if needed (Barbour/Westlake) and two others that can fill in if needed (O'Hara/Hamill) as well as youngsters (Hawkshaw/Whittaker). If we bring in Findlay we'll have four recognised centre backs (Findlay/Connolly/Ashcroft/Syme) with O'Hara who can cover if needs be. Now the relative merits of those players in those positions is debatable, so if you'd said that we might lack a bit of quality at the back, then I'd agree. But cover/competition for places? Disagree completely. A back four of Westlake, Connolly, Findlay, Smith is good enough for me going into the opening day.
  4. He had fitness issues, and was injured a lot. He wanted to go back to England, we wanted someone more reliable and so we parted company. A shame because he looked decent, but I'm fairly happy with Smith as a replacement.
  5. As is discussed on the transfer thread, it's very unlikely to be a straight three years.
  6. Samson and Josh have been given extra time off as they were both on international duty, late into the summer. Samson has been told he's free to find a new club, but apparently content to stay for now. Megan Finlayson, she's been the U20 physio for a year or so now. I actually know her, a nice lassie who has a Masters in Sports Science too so knows what she's talking about. Brennan will be joining Stranraer on loan.
  7. Manuel Pascali has signed for Lega Pro side AS Cittadella, who were just relegated from Serie B.
  8. I was literally about to post that. Wasn't in the picture that the club tweeted of goalkeeper training. As I mentioned in my squad list (pinned on main page) he's been made available for free.
  9. Welcome home, Boydy

Keep him away from the Killie pies and you'll do all right this season.

  10. Is he? Leven was still playing last season for Jarrow Roofing in the millionth tier of English football. Not doubting your source, but there's nothing on the 'boro site about him either.

  12. Oh, and releasing Dylan Pooler is about the most ludicrous decision yet. Wow.
  13. The Pascali quotes from Ronnie MacKay are baffling. Most people accept that Paska is on £2k p/w or there abouts. So he says that the club left him "no choice" after offering him only £1k p/w and no accommodation? Then he says that he wants to stay in Scotland? Where exactly does he think he's going to get that kind of money here, given his age and declining ability? The only clubs daft enough to pay him that are Dundee and Rangers, and the Dees seem to have tightened up a bit (at least by their standards). I'd have understood him going back to Italy to be with his family, he and the club could have released a statement saying that he was homesick and parting amicably. Instead we've got what is either a negotiating tactic to get more money from Killie (say that the club are the bad guys in the hope the fans demand we keep him) or the words of a man who has finally let bitterness take over. It should never have ended like this, Paska
  14. I'm pretty sure they've covered the Youth Cup Final in recent years too. It's really a no win for the guys at the BBC at times - decide to cover the YC Final and folk will say it's because that lot are in it, don't cover it and they're accused of ignoring a significant youth tournament that deserves coverage. The worst thing for me is the constant Rangers obsession. Now I know that, like sex, it sells. However, almost nightly we have Kenny McIntyre reading out a whole list of exciting things that have happened in Scottish football - manager departures, play-offs, player departures, disciplinary hearings etc etc; before saying "But first, the latest on Rangers." If it was to do with their brilliant first goal v Hibs the other night, or something of that ilk I'd be far more receptive to it being covered. After all, it was a big goal for a big club in a big game. But is there anyone of a non-Rangers persuasion out there that remotely cares about the boardroom intricacies at Ibrox? Let's get the football 'out the way' first, then mention whatever the latest Rangers chairman/director has had to say if you have time at the end. After all, Rangers fans aren't listening, or at least believing, the BBC as they think they're biased against RFC. So what's the point in alienating the fans of smaller teams that are desperate for any smidgen of coverage that they might get from the national broadcaster? Up and down the country there are interesting football stories happening all the time. Give them the coverage they deserve. Bring back Jim Spence's "Beyond the SPL" and allow wannabe journalists from all corners of Scotland to produce pieces on their local side to get aired. I'd be interested, and I'm sure plenty of others would be too, not to mention the aspiring journalists that could get a boost from having their work so publicly available. I long for the day that every club gets a fair crack of the whip from time to time, however picking on Sportsound for rightly covering youth football is the wrong use of anger IMHO. Get it directed toward Mr "but first Rangers" and his bosses for constantly ignoring the lesser lights of our game.
  15. The ref clearly saw it, so no chance it wasn't getting overturned. Hopefully see him hit a double on Saturday...
  16. Things have got better since Ms Sturgeon took over, so I'd assume that once contract negotiations are done and finalised with all out-of-contract players then we'll make an announcement. I imagine it'll be Ross County-esque.
  17. Could do a hell of a lot worse, but could definitely do better. As for JM himself, we sorely lack someone in midfield to help the transition between defence-midfield-attack. McAlister would help with that greatly, as well as providing cover for a number of areas.
