  1. Sorry to hear of your loss, my thoughts are with you and your family.
  2. I was going to at least do the Classic but my son wants to do the Wee Jaunt again this year. A question of etiquette though, is it the done thing to drop him for being too slow
  3. Retirement celebration at Leslie Bike Shop this Saturday with Andy and Fiona retiring, Andy has had the business 38 years! At least the business isn’t going to a major chain as one of the employees has bought it so it’ll still retain the atmosphere and reputation. After all these years he’s still not sold me a Bianchi! I’ve walked in to buy one and came out with Cannondales and Meridas amongst other things!
  4. Yes it is quite understandable that a person of limited means would not be buying the S-Works but kudos for at least taking the time to google “high end bikes”.
  5. It’s true, for the price of a Kia Ceed you can put a deposit down on a decent bike!
  6. It made a change attending a match in Scotland with that sort of crowd where it was about the football and not a “party song” in earshot!
  7. Could all persons who secretly video people for their own gratification in the name of road safety please provide evidence of their whereabouts as this is probably one of the next steps. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bristol-48982140
  8. Well here at C.A.S.T we like to think of all road users as equals whether they are car drivers, cyclists, horse riders or similar and we strongly encourage discussion between all parties whether they drive budget Korean cars or expensive carbon fibre bikes. It’s all about positive dialogue!
  9. I see he's 60. Age, being a fat f**k and that level of anger should hopefully see a heart attack before long. Gammon c**t. Lot of rage from Boulton there, he should get himself a bike to help relief that stress!!
  10. Got my Di2 fixed at Leslie Bike Shop, a good clean out and all the cables reconnected seems to have done the trick. I think this started at the Etape Caledonia where the weather was chucking up lots of crap. Great job by the guys there and of course a quick 40 miler shakedown ride yesterday was in order!
  11. As that old meme/saying goes, you are going faster than everyone on the couch! It’s not all about distance and speed, it’s about getting out there!
  12. You just google celebrities born 31 years before your year of birth, nothing more complicated. I also found out Henry Winkler was born in the same year and there is no way I could beat up the Fonz!
  13. There is a game going round online where you see which celebrity you can challenge that is 31 years older than you. I got Magnum PI himself so I think I’ll just not bother issuing such a challenge!
  14. I was on BKool for a bit and it was ok, you just have to get the setup right. It’s easy if it’s a smart trainer but you can do it with sensors and a normal trainer but you won’t get all the functionality.
  15. Well I tried the Campagnolo Bullets that I bought on my good bike and even though they are slightly heavier than my Cosmic Carbones I think I preferred them. Quite a few of my PBs dropped on Strava and they just felt better on the hills. The downside to my day was that my front mech stopped working, I’ve charged the battery and it’s made no difference. Any suggestions before I start taking the system apart, is it likely to be the wiring or the mech?
  16. Off to the Fife Cycle Park with Statts Jnr and his Spesh. I bought a set of Campagnolo Bullets 50 this week as they were a decent price and want to do some speed runs there. I’ve fitted them to the SuperSix just now but probably have them permanently fitted onto one of my other bikes unless I prefer them to the Cosmic Carbone.
  17. I had home emergency cover with HomeServe and the renewal came in last week at £226 for the year and that’s with the “loyalty discount” but was with a higher excess! One phonecall later to cancel and it immediately dropped to the “introductory rate” of £74 for the year with a reduced excess. Normally I wouldn’t have bothered too much with home emergency cover but I work away from home a lot and it’s piece of mind for the wife.
  18. Ice cold Coca-Cola Mackies Cheese and Onion crisps Ritters Rum and Raisin Chocolate
  19. The sound of the pipes at the summit just lull you into a false sense of hope! That sound just travels!!!
  20. Great effort, I’m disappointed that I wasn’t able to do it this year due to a combination of an injury and work commitments. I’m going to be doing the Etape Caledonia to help a mate as part of his rehab post stroke, it’s only the 40 mile section but still a nice leg stretcher! I’ve not done that one before so hope it’s a good substitute for the Loch Ness event.
  21. The Etape Loch Ness is really good, lot of support, excellent route and closed roads. I’m disappointed I’m missing next year but I’m going to make up for it with a few different ones.
  22. The Etape Loch Ness is always a good one, it might have sold out for next year but there are always charity spots. It’s always well run and the King of the Mountain stage is a good one. For the first time in 4 years I’m not doing it next year as I’m likely to be out of the country but I will be doing PoppyScotland, The Big Belter for Cycle for Scotland and the Etape Caledonia.
