Been reading elsewhere and there were quite a few teams in the WOSFL with players missing due to still on holiday or suspensions.
Were both Pollok and Auchinleck at full strength for the game or still had players who considered to be in the starting 11, still missing?
I suppose even the managers of most teams might still be trying to figure out the best team in defense, midfield and forwards etc... but the best placed at the moment to answer are Pollok and Talbot supporters
Fraser was missing through suspension, that’s RB position so could have started but certainly would have came on after the injuryJordan Allan LB suspended, Burns the back up unavailable (wedding I think)
Which is why we had 45 mins with no full backs playing
Then it’s hard to tell as I don’t think anyone could say Polloks best XI to know if the others not playing missed out due to selection or injury / suspensions. I would say from pre season we ended with our stronger forward line rather than the one we started with.
Stephen Docherty is also carrying an injury and possibly would have been on bench

It would have been good to find out a bit more of the game itself and how the new crop of players on both sides looked!
My thoughts to bring it back to the game itself.
Talbot, looked strong as usual. Get the ball forward fast, and seemed to have a few players with pace who could get in behind.
Not 100% who their new players were but still looked like a team full of 6 foot plus players which makes them really dangerous at set plays. ( which has been Polloks downfall against them in the past)Pollok
defense looked fragile, which can partially be down to only one fit fullback, and a CH at left back. Then second half the fit full back came off injured at HT so we had 3 CH and a CM as our back 4.
we started with 3 small forwards which wasn’t working as when getting the ball forward quickly it was too easy for their players to win headers etc.
we looked a more settled side when we added a bit of physicality up top with Anderson and Kerr.
I would expect both teams will improve by the week as they get more settled after a lot of change over the summer

Talbot lose one game and it’s meltdown.
What happens if the latest revolution doesn’t go to plan, ‘there’re horses on the pitch, they think it’s all over…’0 -

Remember the money they have spent on about 6 new players we are trying to build a team with young players. Agree we do need a striker

Beith 1 Rob Roy 0 single goal in the second half from Ciaran Diver was the difference today. Beith goalkeeper saved a penalty with about 10 mins to go. Pics from the game

Not as long gone as Pollok's. You can count that in decades.
Glad to see you are taking todays defeat well.

Did the Pollok No. 5 getting booked as the teams walked off?
The ref did seem to book someone when walking off but not sure who.
Gow (no5) and Kerr were the two closest to him.

Aye it definitely impacted the game. Pollok fans love a good moan, I'll say that for them. I suppose it's part of the game but listening to it would burst ye!

Where are you getting that from what I've said? Have W&B ever won a match in the competition?
And how do they ever improve that record if going by your ‘rules’ they are not allowed to play in it.
Admit it’s a ridiculous comment and stop doubling down.

My comments have nothing to do with Talbot or the fact that they have been drawn together, hence the "IMO". I have made them before on the forum about W&B. As far as I can see (Googling) they have never won a SC match and invariably lose heavily. Therefore they don't contribute to the competition except for being in the draw. Again IMO it's a waste of time and money.
There will be posters who know much more about them and there history. How long have they had a licence and how did it come about?
Let’s just scrap it and let Rangers play Celtic every round as a best of 7. I mean the national stadium has ends names after then, so we are half way there….1 -

Good statement. Shettleston committee and mgmnt team are morally bankrupt and clearly reprehensible individuals.
While I find it shocking that any football team even considers signing Goodwillie, I am in disagreement about GCC putting this out. They could have just contacted the club without the need to it being made public.
GCC are poorly run, the city has deteriorated so much over the last decade, lack of re development compared to so many other working class cities around the U.K.
I also have the unfortunate experience of the leader being my local councillor and the ineptness when dealing with issues raised.
This feels like the statement put out for ‘likes’ to divert attention from all the other failings.

No game on Saturday.
Your next game hopefully is a cracker but ends in defeat!
I would imagine game will sell out with the Premier league not back under way and I don’t think either of the Glasgow clubs are playing at home.
Will be really interesting to see where both teams are as seems like a lot of change at both clubs.

Talbot? Darvel? Unless stepping up the leagues.0 -

Told tonight that Dorrans is on that at Burgh. Thats mental. Esplin apparently on at least £600 a week.
And I would imagine (and certainly the rumours are) Stuart McCann is on similar to Esplin.
Best part of 2.5k a week on 3 players £100k+ a year. That will be more than teams in Tier 7 annual spend and possibly more than some in Tier 6

Cracking opening fixture. Is newslandsfield still got capacity of only 900?
Mon the papers
Until the boundaries move and we become part of East Renfrewshire or even further, North Ayrshire then, yes, it’s 900

Pollok v Talbot opening day.
Two clubs who will have quite a bit of change from last season1 -

Heard both the McCanns & Menzies signed on at the Burgh, along with Jamie McGowan ex Largs goalie.
I thought Stuart may have held out for premier league team.
Beith may need a forward soon, Talbot look like they are re building and Darvel would be an option with the manager they have having signed him before.

Stuart Fyfe is a smashing defender and a good guy. No idea as to what happened with him and the Burgh management but he was as good a central defender as I’ve seen at the club.
I wish him all the best
I assume you have a fair few more players lined up?
As after the marquee signings of Doran’s and Esplin it seems to have calmed down a bit - all be it Simeon it’s a good signing.A few Pollok players who are not signed up that I thought would have some interest.
Stuart McCann
Gary McCann
Rumsby
Menzies

I'd not be writing Darvel off at all. Pollok and Talbot will have to recruit wisely though and might find it hard to hit ground running. We've done some decent business in close season and building on a decent season. Beith will also be on a high and St Cadocs and Gartcairn coming up strong. It's going to be as competitive as normal
Clydebank and Beith start as favourites for me.
Both retained the core of their team and adding a few more players will improve them again.
The rest of last years top 5, it’s a lot of change. So it all comes down to getting off to a decent start and building confidence a bit like Beith last year.

Burns at wedding I think and Doco has a reoccurring injury that he can’t shake off and not sure what is causing it. Goes through stages it’s ok then pulls up again I believe.
