I can’t remember the last time we were in the Premier League and had the chance to play kids at the end of the season for a bit of game time but we are here now. 1 point from 9 has ended our season BUT what a season it has been. I started following Saints in 86 and seasons like this have been few and far between. Time to enjoy it and watch the sales of Pampers rocket for a few teams fighting to stay up.

We chuck away a 2 goal lead at home to all but end our season…………………yet it’s the Hearts fans who are salty. Strange bunch, starting to understand Hibs fans better now. @Lyle Lanley, @Leith Green, @Zing etc. you have my sympathies

Absolutely this. I love Flynn but he should know better, he gave the ref a decision to make when the striker had his back to goal and was zero threat. I am sure he will have held his hands up and apologized in the dressing room. Win as a team and lose a one too. Onwards and eh........... onwards.

Soft but still a penalty. He puts his forearm into his back and pushes him, fair enough the striker is waiting for it and throws himself down but he still made the contact and gave the ref a decision to make. Shocking how deep we got in the last 15 minutes and for all his quality, Baccus just didn’t get up to speed with the game when he came on and young Jamieson made some poor choices which meant the ball never stuck up top and just kept coming back. Still had a great season but it now feels pretty much over.

Third replay showed why it was a red and why VAR reviews it so quickly.

We need some energy to support Main, Kiltie looks knackered.

That pretty much sums it up for me too, we have some decent players but in terms of top six, there are better players in the other sides. Main and Dunne need to be replaced with better as one doesn’t score enough and the other has too many brain farts, while Fraser, Kiltie, Tanser are probably punching slightly above their weight in the top six. Regardless of how the season finishes, we have done exceptionally well to finish top six.

I remember Steve Evans saying the top clubs in League 2 were paying £400K p/a so I’m not sure where the lads next move is as he would struggle to get a top of L2, bottom of L1 club.

I initially felt the same but it would send a terrible message to any club thinking of loaning players to us in the future and wouldn’t be well received by the dressing room. The boy made a mistake and I’m sure will be fined appropriately but he probably needs an arm round his shoulder more than he needs punted.

I’m looking forward to seeing Tony Fitz driving the open top bus through town with our top 6 trophy being held aloft. In reality though it is a highly manufactured achievement that actually means very little but it does show as a club how we have progressed both on and off the pitch. Despite the performance today we have managed 44 points over 33 games, so plenty to be proud of

St Mirren haven’t won enough 1st and 2nd balls and are getting over run in the middle of the park, 2-0 probably flatters Killie but absolutely deserve to be in the lead.

The league is better for it, the days of the OF signing the best players from the rest and mostly benching them does the league no good in the Bosman era, without large transfer fees. If anything, you need a stronger league, even just to improve perception from players you want to sign, otherwise you get comments like the ones from the Japanese national manager and that does nothing to help you attract players.
