  1. 1. For all the hatred of South Ayrshire Council and the Scottish Executive, building a new stadium would have been the worst mistake that Ayr United could ever have made. See the example of Airdrieonians as a prime example of why. 2. The Railway End would be a better 'Home End' than the Somerset Road End 3. The period where Mark Roberts was reliant on Somerset Boab's absolutely rancid tunes to increase his transfer budget is the worst period in the club's history. 4. the number one shirt should be retired in honour of Ludovic Roy*.
  2. Correct, however once it became clear that we were not going to get battered, he should have changed those tactics with a view to actually winning the game. He had no plan other than to cling onto a 0-0 draw and get to penalties. With 20 minutes to go, Mark Roberts should have been on and we should have went for it. Waiting on Killie to score was his mistake.
  3. You were in the home end at The Valley as your team lost the Playoff Semi-Final? I'd file that under 'Sare Yin'.
  4. I have seen Dortmund play there 5 times and the atmosphere has been good, but nothing special each time. Experienced better atmospheres at Köln, Schalke and Gladbach in the NRW region. Maybe I was just lucky on the occasion I went, but I've never heard anything like it. I found Hertha and Werder Bremen to be better than Schalke, but again maybe just down to what was happening on the pitch.
  5. Pretty baffled that anyone would argue with Shankland's inclusion in the squad, given that we have still been calling Steven Naismith up. F**k it, chuck him in there and see how he does.
  6. Glad I watched this as opposed to the dross on display at Old Trafford last night. Superb performance from Nürnberg but as you say, an absolutely shambolic showing from H96. Wiesbaden and Kiel wins aside, it's been a shocking start to the season. Are the fans beginning to get on Slomka's back?
  7. Were you there for the Scotland game? Domestic fixtures are completely different, the atmosphere for a BVB home game is unbelievable.
  8. Excellent, cheers. Have went for a small which may be a bit of a risk but even if I have to re-order it in medium, the combined cost would still be less than I'd pay anywhere else!
  9. Cheers, have given it a go. My Borussia Dortmund away shirt will arrive in roughly 42 days for the bargain fee of $14..
  10. The Olympiastadion isn't actually owned by Hertha BSC, they play in it for now but I think they are looking to build their own purpose-built stadium elsewhere in the west of the city within the next few years. Incredible place though, superb atmosphere when I went last year.
  11. Some of the images of the shirts don't have club badges or manufacturers on them, just the sponsor. I take it this isn't what they are actually like when they arrive?
  12. Was a red card for me, Mere followed through with his foot raised and caught the Hertha player well above his ankle. Not really a contest after that.
  13. That's an absolutely shambolic decision to give a red card for a failed overhead kick. Jesus Christ.
  14. A year and a half really, but aye. The Coal thing is a good idea but we are very close to the sea so I don't think there would have been any mines in the area. We do have our windows closed most of the time, but have the wee vents on the PVC open. Debatable how much air will get through that though to be fair. The door is timber so you could be right there. Thanks for your response, definitely some good points to take home to my stressed out other half. Cheers. It is a timber frame, concrete ground floor and suspended timber upper floor. Outside is rendered. Should have also mentioned, there is visible bowing in the wall on the stairs where the first floor meets the ground floor. There's a slight crack above the front door but unsure if its related. The leaking pipe idea could be the right track. Our dishwasher has packed in and the disgusting water that was floating in it while we considered whether to get it fixed has somehow vanished, so there could be a leak. Thanks for your response, hopefully you're right!
  15. As has been said, unfortunately the Builders' Warranty is only 10 years. I suspect, but can't confirm, that the wee cow that lived there before knew there were issues and got out of there as quickly as possible.
  16. Nothing aside from the front door sticking, which again is a sign that there could be subsidence. The Home Report flagged nothing up so it has just became apparent since we moved in. Wary of going to insurance but not sure what our alternative would be.
  17. Looking for some advice from you fine people : Myself and my partner have noticed signs that our (11 year old) house may be beginning to be affected by subsidence. The floors have become slightly uneven, there is a faint smell of dampness and our front door seems to be a touch out of alignment. Googling this stuff, it seems that these are all signs of subsidence. Has anyone got any experience of this? We are really not sure what to do at all. Insurance would possibly cover it (Would have to pay £1,000 excess though I think) but I fear this may put a black mark against the house and harm the re-sell value. There is also the probably morally wrong option of trying to move asap but we only just moved in a year or so ago and it is a little bit away from being ready to be sold as we're in the middle of re-decorating the garden. Any advice would be appreciated, whether it be expert advice or just what you would do in our situation.
  18. I was also a shitebag when I played tbf so just disregard my sand dune pish-patter.
  19. Coaching has evolved from the days where the players were run into the ground, up the sand dunes etc. This has generally been seen as 'progress' but maybe the opposite is true. When I played Boys Club football (up to U-19's) we were taken to Ayr beach for pre-season training which essentially involved running until we were ill. It's something that you never see now but maybe there is some correlation between the disappearance of that method of coaching and the absolute shitebags that we seem to produce nowadays. ETA: Apologies for what seems like a 'Yer Da' type post, just thinking aloud
  20. It is if it's being replaced by mobile phones and playing the PS4 for 8 hours a day.
  21. To be fair to Councils, there are too many wee pr*cks that will vandalise them. A societal problem, one which happens far less/not at all in other countries.
  22. Kris Boyd's post-match comments in the Sky Studio after our most recent doing included a comment about football in Scotland now being a middle-class sport as young children have been priced out of playing football. Do you agree? I see where he is coming from. I play 5's once a week and pay £6 for the hour on the artificial grass. That's pretty expensive for children and certainly expensive if they wanted to play more than once a week. It seems that football is now played almost exclusively on these surfaces, but whilst I think there is some logic to what Boyd was saying, I think it is a bit of a reach. I'm 27 now. The streets and grass areas in Ayr where I played football as a child are still there. The children are not. Quite simply, they seem to have found other things to do. Those on here who have young children, what do they actually do? Boyd may be right about 'No Ball Games' signs in certain areas, but that excuse isn't valid in my area. The grass fields are empty, the streets are empty. What the f**k happened? Is Fortnite really more entertaining than getting a squad together and heading to the field for a game of football?
  23. Agree with that. It was glaringly obvious that we had the ball in the opening 6 minutes because they were letting us have it. The breakaway goal was predictable and utterly laughable, the fact that we didn't see it coming is an absolute embarrassment.
  24. Ayr United v Rangers from the 1992/93 season. Ayr sporting a shirt which some might suggest looks like it's been shat on. Ayr United v Hibs in a Scottish Cup Replay in 2011, prior to the renovation of the Railway End roof. Ayr's last ever visit to Brockville to play Falkirk in 2001.
