  1. This is it. The "free britney" folk were ghoulish arseholes projecting some kind of evil patriarchal motivations on Britney's father. Nobody seemed to consider that he was a man trying to do his best for a mentally sick daughter who was very vulnerable to being taken advantage of. Utter shitebags the lot of them.
  2. Looking forward to putting the lichties back in their wee diddy box after two seasons of being faaar too big for their boots. 4-0 to the Wraggs.
  3. ^^^ previous user of the bog was a 20 stone boy who spent an hour working his way through the Tokyo Times crossword. There's yer heated seat.
  4. It's the youngsters and their constant exposure to Americanisms on the web. I worked with a boy who referenced his "mom" a few times and also called them "diapers" instead of nappies. Lovely fella, but that was awful stuff. See also "hey", "dude" and "I know, right?". Absolute murder.
  5. Aye I just checked and you're right. He started against Lithuania and I wrongly remembered that as his debut. It was perhaps his first start. Either way he looked like a rugby winger who had never played football before.
  6. He had an absolutely barnstorming game against Dortmund and changed the game for them. Sadly that was it. Hassenhutl regretted that Burke wasn't understanding or applying tactical instruction, which is baffling. His debut against Lithuania is one if the most perplexingly inept I've ever seen. He ran the ball out if play twice and played like he'd been lobotomised. I still retain hope that he can develop into some kind of agent of chaos we bring on for the last 20.
  7. Aye those palace efforts this season are tremendous. I actually think the Everton one looks pretty good. I'm a bit of a sucker for a pink top though.
  8. I thought the post with the Humza tweet in it was pretty funny tbh. The currants on here are having an absolute field day with a'body. This whole saga gets a Partridge shrug from me. I know it's disgraceful and a humiliating climb down, but it's not remotely fucking surprising. The BBC have had their tongues in the OF ring-piece for as long as I can remember.
  9. How do you pronounce it? And I agree with the second one. Sang-meedge is the correct pronunciation.
  10. I know there could be a historical in-joke here, but I'm always pretty uneasy at any of the "gin-cardine" type posts. I know the chap doesn't need me fighting his battles or anything, but I just don't like it. It seems like the cheapest of digs. Mainly, however, I'm here for the serialisation of @J_Stewart's tell-all account of being babysat by P and B's resident libertine.
  11. That footloose scene is absolutely magnificent. I honestly don't care about the conflict between the two factions and probably wont watch the rest, but that scene was a joy.
  12. Daft question perhaps. I looked on the BBC website and we're on 4 points after a win and a win. If we're only getting a point for drawing with Killie, what is the point in pelanties?
  13. I thought Portugal looked poorer when Nazareth came on which was strange. She seemed to blunt Silva's attacking threat and, although she made a couple of good passes and looked good on the ball, didn't do much aside from that. It could also have coincided with the number 10 tiring a bit. That was an excellent game though, and it had a bit of needle as well which I like. The punditry at half time is the same levels as the men's football though, just excitable ex pros with verbal diarrhoea offering little in the way of insight beyond tired cliches.
  14. Aye I reckon already that England and Germany will get to the final. England looked class yesterday. The lassie White is a real handful. You're right about the attitude of the players. They're all really up for it, but there's no histrionics and the respect they give the referee is almost on a par with rugby. I'm definitely one of the "women's fitba is shite" brigade, but that's because I keep comparing it to men's football. It almost feels like a different sport, or a throwback to 1960's football (without the leg-breaking tackles) where things were slower and the goalies looked smaller. So when I just relax and let go of comparison and judge it on it's own merits I thoroughly enjoy it. Tonight's match was enthralling.
  15. Cracking second half. I loved the Spanish number 6, but f**k me their right winger was massively frustrating. Slow of thought and anticipation slowing down her team's attacks. The German right CB was excellent though. Pearce gets a lot if stick for some reason, but I like him. He does his research, gives good details of players and he takes the time to learn how to pronounce players' names correctly. The latter is absurdly rare and it does my fuckin head in. Anyway, pleasantly surprised at this tournament.
  16. Altar wine is basically Buckie, so im a fan. If the good lord's blood was being transubstantiated from rosé wine then I'd be all for another reformation tbqhwy.
  17. England have been excellent but Norway have made it far too easy. They look poorly coached tbh. I actually enjoyed the commentary and enjoyed Ian Wright being such a cheerleader for women's football. It's probably because I'm not that invested in it tbh. Ellen White has been excellent and I enjoyed her celebration. A ptttgomn is emotionless goal celebration, so I was on board with that.
  18. Offence requires two parties, one to intend and one to take offence. You seem to take umbridge like it's methodone so I daresay you're not an accurate judge of what is offensive. You can choose to be offended or not. I would recommend not. It's less stressful, but then again you fucking love being in a victim story so crack on.
  19. "She's all that" is absolutely brilliant. The characters are wonderfully written and the cast is great. Freddie Prinze jr is always highly likeable and I loved him in this. Also Rachel Lee Cook is an all time crush of mine. The dance scene at the prom to "funk soul brother" is a joy. Kevin Pollack as her dad is a tremendous choice too. Man, I need to watch this again. I disagree with you a bit about Baby Driver. I felt that Lily Collins' charisma and chemistry with Baby lent real heart to the movie, and Ansel Elgort's blankness was ideal for that character. Jon Hamm was the absolute stand out in that film though. Great actor and great character. Superb soundtrack too.
  20. But I'm a Catholic. Also, the first time I ever heard that term my mate got called it and we both pissed ourselves laughing. It's funny. In fact it became a running joke with us for years. My da' has a set of rosaries in every one of his 7 (seven) jackets, so it's fucking apt. Another thing. My pal and I had never been called anti-irish Catholic stuff before. Why? He is a Motherwell fan and I am a jags fan. You're right about sectarianism in that it isn't the right word to use. It's nowt to do with religion. Catholics and proddies tend to live and let live and are mostly baffled by "Scotland's shame". It's kept alive by Rangers and Celtic.
  21. As a church going sonny jim myself (these days mainly to sing hymns and see my pals) any anti-catholicism I've seen and experienced is mainly based on anachronistic beliefs and their impact on homosexuals and women (as well as shaming sexuality as a whole), so it has a basis in things people can choose to have or not. It's also reasonably fair. Unlike others some of my objections to Sellick fans are to do with Catholicism. Most Celtic fans I know and have witnessed haven't set foot in chapel and wouldn't know their way around a set of rosaries, yet are more than happy to identify as such so that they can inject that sweet sweet heroin of persecution and victimhood. There are also Catholics who can't see that being called out for having discriminatory beliefs is not the same as persecution Clown Job may fit into one or both categories. Performative bead rattler would be my guess though.
