  1. Nah, he crushed rebellions and refused to evacuate Khartoum while there was still a chance. Fairly apt, I think.
  2. I think that is very significant. A united front should prevent any potential issues with the SFA.
  3. I can see this misinformation campaign having an effect and persuading clubs to stick with the WRJFA. If the clubs see it as a chance to stick together while gaining access to the pyramid at least some of them will buy it. Hopefully the LL puts them right when they call their meeting. I'm fairly confident Kilwinning won't be part of the WRJFA next season though
  4. Spot on. And for clubs with a 3g pitch (like Largs), installing lights can add an income stream. Cumnock have other teams training or playing at Townhead Park on various days / nights of the week.
  5. East Ayrshire Council agreed recently to give Talbot £15k, the rest of the funding is from a variety of sources including crowdfunding. From memory, I think their lights are costing £70k.
  6. But with 5 other clubs within a 5 or 6 mile radius, never mind Ayr and Kilmarnock or that pair in Glasgow.
  7. They have been known to do that, but I think that's a bit in the past. Not the only ones though, senior or junior.
  8. Stranraer look like they've had it but Forfar have a fighting chance of staying up. As it happens Stranraer have built decent sides with relatively small budgets in the recent past. It's usually a cracking away trip as well.
  9. Mibbes aye, mibbes naw. But Forfar and Stranraer are the league above Brechin and are third tier regulars.
  10. If I can throw my tuppence worth in, I thought the reference to Forfar, Stranraer and Brechin was a bit disrespectful. Apart from that it was an interesting read which clearly indicates that the new league is happening.
  11. Agreed. Considering the FA Cup Qualifying Rounds involved 644 clubs this season it shouldn't be that big an issue, although prize money might (apologies for using an example from another country ).
  12. They are very different to us seasiders, have you ever heard their aaaccents? Anyway, I went to a Pollok v Cumnock West of Scotland Final a couple of years ago, played at Newlandsfield.
  13. You're right, work on the pitches is unlikely to start immediately after the last game, but I wonder if clubs would be reluctant to allow the pitch to be used when they may have play -off games coming up. I can remember Somerset Park hosting a couple of semis. Went to Talbot v Ladeside in 86 or 87 and Buffs v Largs in the early 90s.
  14. I think bookings during an abandoned game count. Suspensions and goals dont .
  15. True. But by the sounds of it Tayside and West Lothian will make sure that doesn't happen.
  16. I'm not doubting the accuracy of that claim, but Prorege thinks the North Juniors will retain their status as Juniors if they become a feeder for the Highland League.
  17. Shows you how desperate Dundee's plight is when you're hoping Morton beat Ayr.
  18. Fair enough. I appreciate you know a fair bit more about this than me.
  19. To put this in perspective, Caersws is about the size of Muirkirk & Tywyn is probably about Maybole sized. Caersws, incidentally, have played in a UEFA Tournament & have been in the Top League down here. Tywyn is similar in population size to Auchinleck. Maybole is wee bit bigger.
  20. I don't say this very often, but to be fair to the SJFA they probably don't have many options. Most grass pitches will likely be unavailable by 31 May and the possibility of grounds being required for the SPFL play-offs prior to then might be another issue.
  21. I'm not sure Muirhead's suspension is over, since the game was abandoned. We'll know soon enough.
  22. Only been to Elgin once, and it was on a Saturday. Been to Ross County and Peterhead midweek though. Just sayin', don't knock till you've tried it
