Just found this utter gem of a thread, thanks! One from my 14 year old step daughter (bear in mind she's born and bred in Illinois USA, never been out of the USA, and a product of the USA education system). Last year, on setting off shit loads of fireworks in early July She: But what is the 4th of July about? And why isn't it on a weekend this year? She just finished middle school (effectively s2) with straight A's! (Including American history)

I've been very lucky and lived in some of the least light-polluted areas of Scotland and the night sky is jusr, just amazing. The thing that always gets me is that I'm looking at a picture of time in all it's majesty. In just one wee spot there is history from some many different times, some stars I'm seeing are probably no longer there.................and some could be millions of years younger than the one that looks "right next" to it. I love the sky! Not sure about cowboy's thoughts. Is the universe still continually expanding, or is it like a massive fart and the centre is now null space (or non smelly to continue the fart idea)?

Every single kid I teach at this school is a fucking bampot, and the levels of bampottery in the school would make any school in Scotland look fucking amazing!

In the last two days at school A "lock out" due to an "incident" in the neighbourhood. (Lock out, no-one in or out of the building, doors locked, windows shut, teach as normal. A fight, genuine one kid on floor being pounded by the other. A different kid led out of the school, in cuffs, by the police. Thank f**k it's the weekend
