  1. The BBC switching coverage of a tennis match between BBC1 / 2 & red button every half hour. Could they not just set aside BBC 2 for the whole of Wimbledon like sky sports have done with the ashes on 402.
  2. His reputation this season got him a total of one job offer, it was probably his inexperience that put other clubs off. I think a season in the first on a more even playing field would have improved his stock as long as we didn't have a complete nightmare. You're right to point out the amount of part time sides though that was an oversight on my part. So I'll say 7th. ;-)
  3. While I don't think it would have increased his reputation, I also don't think it would have been too detrimental to his stock either. ------------------ As for the other quote you referenced that wasn't me.
  4. I would be amazed if he didn't make a bid for Durnan tbh.
  5. If I was a Kilmarnock fan I wouldn't be happy that a manager of a lower level club needed so much time to think it over. Hardly a massive endorsement of the lure of Killie is it. That said I can see the reasons for staying and going. Stay with Queens finish 8th or above and his stock remains high-ish and he's got a comfortable job for another year at least. (It takes a lot for us to sack a manager - Gus) Option two goes to Killie, they get bought over and he's shown the door or they bring in a Joe Kinnear in the shape of Shiels to "help" the manager. I read on another thread that Killie have the 7th biggest budget in the spl but 9th might not be enough to keep his job. To be honest I'm resigned to him going I'm more worried about who he'll come back for as we won't be hard to deal with given the whole squad could sign per contracts in January.
  6. Was drinking this yesterday, one of the best lagers I've ever tasted. A bargain at £3 a pint.
  7. Yeah they are, I paid for two at the end of May. Was told they'd be posted out a couple of weeks before the season starts.
  8. I'm sure Gus started at about 20/1 when the Queens job became available then shortened to 10/1 the night before he was appointed. Killie should definitely give big Gus the nod imo .
  9. Kirkcudbright half marathon done yesterday in 1:48, Pretty chuffed. Beat my previous Pb by 6 mins and last years years time by 15 mins :-0 A bit sore today though.
  10. Merged league bodies as well! I didn't think anything as good as the proposals suggested would come about for next season. I think the 2nd&3rd divisions (3rd&4th tiers) should be regionalised though. I think that would help the clubs and MIGHT improve attendances at that level. The only realistic alternatives to the farce that the current Spl set up is either, 10 teams with no split or 14 with a split after two rounds of fixtures. With the introduction of a play off for second spot the first division would be a really decent league!
  11. I'm undecided just now. Training for a half but it seems to be going quite well I'm doing about 30 miles a week on average plus a gym session and five a sides. I find myself thinking "it would ONLY be an extra 15miles ish a week for marathon training." Then I remember I like to drink beer and I've got dodgy knees. If I was to do a marathon it would be one of the ones later in the year as I couldn't be bothered doing 45miles a week in January to get ready for the London etc. The Munich marathon looks decent it's held during octoborfest! (Berlin ticks the boxes as well but it's full for this year) Looking at my finances though it would need to be the Loch Ness.
  12. Your PTTGOYN is something that helps children cross the roads safer? I know it's petty! It's more the fact they push the button which holds up the traffic longer than necessary that bothers me.
  13. Lollipop women! Stuck in traffic in the way to work and the lollipop women always push the button on the crossing waits until the light turns red then walks out in front of the stationary cars and stands with her arms out like some sort of human shield. 1) it's a traffic jam we can't move! 2) she has a glow in the dark sign and coat, if she walks out we stop its kind of a rule! This isn't just one woman and one crossing either. Most of the kids are escorted by parents as well. Waste of a wage.
  14. I'm no expert, but if it was me I'd be looking at the following as a typical week: Monday: Long run / 9miles* Tuesday: Rest** Wednesday: Football training Thursday: Medium run / 6miles* Friday: Rest** Saturday: Football match Sunday: Short run / 3miles* ------- *The distances are a guess really as it depends how seriously you're taking it, what your goal is and what your current level is. It's suggested not to increase your mileage by more than 10% a week. **Also on the Rest days I just mean from impact on your knees/ankles, if your keen you could go to the gym or swim etc. Most plans will include speed work but tbh the football is probably taking care of that side of things so I'd concentrate on getting the miles in.
  15. Leftover cold pizza from last night. Beef, pepperoni, red onion & jalapeños. Athlete!
  16. Pleased with that effort this morning. Was running with a mate so ill need to try and keep that pace up by myself next time. Kirkcudbright 1/2 marathon in 5 weeks aiming for 1hr 55mins..
  17. I use Mapmyrun and endomondo apps on the I phone.
  18. You definitely can at international matches. Not sure about warriors games and the likes. Pretty sure you can at the Melrose sevens as well.
  19. I was a bit pissed off by the gestures he was making at the time as I thought it was unnecessary and hadn't heard any abuse directed at him. After that though I noticed 'victor' getting quite animated towards the thistle bench and getting a ticking off from a steward and assumed he had maybe been doing this earlier and I hadn't noticed. In which case fare enough.
