  1. He'll be gone in a year tops, so I'd get used to it.
  2. Get him capped in a competitive game, even if it's 5 minutes at the death.
  3. The Thin Blue Line is good, and it put me in mind of another documentary that catalogues one of the most outrageous miscarriages of justice ever - Paradise Lost. The guys were released from jail about a year ago, after serving the best part of 20 years inside effectively for listening to heavy metal music and wearing black clothes.
  4. I'd never really listened to BJM until I saw this a couple of years ago. Downloaded a few tunes and gradually got into them, culminating in seeing them live in a dingy wee club in Amsterdam last summer. True to form, Anton had a hissy fit and stormed off-stage during Straight Up And Down after a row with the rest of the band. It is an excellent documentary.
  5. I'm not sure why. If you're referring to the footage of the jumpers, I think the way they handled the aftermath was really nicely done. A lot of the interviews with family members to me were quite uplifting. It's been a while since I've seen it but I seem to remember one family where the son, not in so many words, told his parents he was off to kill himself that day. The family, knowing the pain and suffering the guy had gone thru were quite relieved in a way.
  6. I doubt it, unless you can rip the video from that site. It's there and free, and I would have thought it would be easy enough to download a copy from somewhere. If you do watch it, let me know what you thought of it.
  7. The Bridge. It's about the people who kill themselves by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge every year. They actually filmed 23 people killing themselves but it's far from gore. They interviewed friends and family of the jumpers and it's really well done. It's really harrowing to watch, but a great insight into depression. You can watch it here
  8. Yeah, I've seen Following. I enjoyed it but I really thought that he went a bit too far with the non-linear timeline. It was good when it all came together at the end, but for most of the film I didn't have a clue what was going on. In fairness, I think I read an interview where he said that was his intention.
  9. I'm actually quite embarrassed to admit that I only got round to watching The Prestige last night. I'm not sure why I haven't bothered before now. I've always really enjoyed Nolan's films. Absolutely stunning. It's instantly one of my favourite movies of all time. I had no idea at all about the twist at the end, I thought for a minute..... but I needn't have worried. The first half hour or so is quite hard going with the non-linear story but I really can't recommend this film highly enough. Really liked how they mixed fact (Tesla, his feud with Edison, his experiments at Colorado Springs) in with the tale. Really great performances from everyone involved, beautifully shot and a brilliant story.
  10. In honour of the thread hitting page 666 I've watched a couple of horror films this week. Absentia, a very low budget flick about a woman who's husband has been missing for 7 years. As she's going thru the process of having him declared dead in absentia he shows up. It's one of those films where the low budget probably helps as the "monster" is kept of screen for pretty much the whole movie meaning they have to rely on the script, acting and the atmosphere. Without giving too much away it's also quite unique. Definitely well worth watching. Watched The Innkeepers, which conversely was a bag of shite. Clichéd haunted house type film that relies on daft cheap scared for well over an hour and then a terrible last half hour. Kelly McGillis from Top Gun has a supporting role. Anyone from my generation will feel pretty old watching her now.
  11. Watched Compliance last night. Truth really is stranger than fiction. If I hadn't known this was based (and was largely faithful to it) on a true story I'd have dismissed it as utter nonsense. I wasn't really sure how they would manage to string it out 90 minutes and it does seem a bit stretched but worth watching if only to see how truly gullible and thick people are.
  12. Fucking hell... No, it's because you can't stay away from the biscuit tin.
  13. Really enjoyed it too. The only criticism I'd have is that it got a bit over-emotional at times. Pena should be up for an Oscar.
  14. Watched it last night, pretty much what I expected. The only laugh out loud bit for me was at the end where Apart from that, very indifferent to it.
  15. Watched Prometheus at last. I'm going to go against the grain here and say I quite enjoyed it. I think the fact that it has been pretty much panned helped, I wasn't expecting much from it. It's also been years since I've watched any of the Alien(s) films. Sure, there's some plot holes and the script wasn't amazing, but it was shot beautifully and there were a couple of brilliant performances. I'd give it a 7. Also watched some daft found footage movie last night, VHS. It's like a horror compendium in the style of the old Tales From The Crypt movies. Was ok, it got a bit silly towards the end and it was overly long but one or two of the little segments were decent enough.
  16. My clubbing days are long passed. I'm a bit confused as to the point of the nightclubs posting all these photos. Are they supposed to entice people to pay into these places? I doubt very much it would work unless you're an anthropologist.
  17. I haven't read much of his recent stuff, but I really enjoyed Cell. I'm suprised it's never made it to the screen.
  18. Watched Bug last night. I saw it years ago, must have been just after it was released. Still not really sure what to make of it. It's quite disturbing, but at the same time hard to take it too seriously. Ashley Judd is brilliant in it tho. I'd be very interested in what anyone who's watched it thought of it.
  19. I'd hope that the SFL clubs will see it for exactly what it is. A tidy wee bonus for at least three seasons.
  20. I remember playing amateur football in Dalmellington on the park at the left hand side as you come into the village. A couple of buses went past in quick succession. As quick as a flash the boy next to me pointed out "Even the buses come thru here in pairs."
  21. Boo! I was hoping we''d get the league cup from 2002, if only to force your lot to think up another song.
  22. Some of the nonsense on that live text page from Rangers supporters would put rangersmedia to shame.
