Why can't we accept top class women's football (soccer if you must) for what it is? We don't slag off the women's 100m final at the Olympic Games as not being comparable to the men's, so why do it with football?

Hurlford United lost 2-0 at home to Queens Park. Disappointed to lose but management reasonably happy with the performance at this stage of the pre-season.

As this thread is asking for best result by your junior club, I never thought to offer my opinion on best Scottish Cup result by a junior side. However IMHO it was Talbot losing 1-0 at Tynecastle. They were in it until the final whistle and if it wasn't for a couple of poor refereeing decisions then they might have taken it back to Beechwood.

I'll miss Abbey Park, but already to looking forward to my visit to the Buffs on August 24th. IMO it's people that make a club not the piece of ground under their feet.

Statistically our best result was probably drawing 2-2 aet at Stirling Albion in the big Scottish before losing on penalties as they are the only SPFL league side we have ever played competitively. However, the best result we have ever had IMO was beating Irvine Meadow in the Ayrshire League Play-off in 1972/73. At that time Meadow and Cambuslang Rangers were the top junior sides in the country by a long way. So for Hurlford to win that match 4-1 was pretty special.

The first time we played them at Cumbernauld was 2015-16, but they were in the Super First the season before that so it's at least four seasons, possibly five already. Must really hurt income.

Richie McKillen has played more games at full back than CH in his four seasons at Blair Park. Have already said that think PB will be a good fit at Holm Park though. Quality player.

Decent players. Both were outstanding for Wishaw in their Junior Cup run the season before last. Dan in particular caused us no end of problems bin the semi.

Anson is a handful and he knows where the net is. Not convinced he's at his best on plastic though.

Quite a few clubs don't announce signings until they are registered.

Although the fixtures aren't announced yet, even I can work out that our first competitive game of the season will​ be an Irvine Valley derby at Recreation Park. Given interest on here in Darvel, will the game attract a decent crowd?

I always liked him at Kilbirnie, but with Jack Whittaker, Calum Watt, Taz & Squib McKenzie in the squad I don't know how he'll make the first XI.

Hurlford have resigned Ryan Caddis and goalkeeper Martin McDonald has joined from Irvine Victoria.

The obvious date for the final IMO is the first Sunday in May as the Monday is usually a holiday. Four weeks between semi-final 2nd leg and final should be enough time surely.

14-16-16-17 would be my choice. Don't see why we need uniformity. Late season district cups rather than sectional and there's probably room for a lower league cup too.
