  1. I didn't say anything about over shadows, and I'm not arguing that the club were wrong to punt him, far from it. I'm just of the opinion that to say there was such an underachievement is to ignore the two successful stories. The team and manager and coaches did well to overcome Arbroath and get to a play off final which proved a step too far. We know all about that. And got to a cup final. That's a hell of an achievement in any ones book. To clarify, I'm not disagreeing he needed to be punted, just suggesting his/their tenure isn't as bad as some of you are making out, in terms of achievement, not week to week performance. You do realise you'll likely pump the Arabs on Saturday then go on a ten game winless run?
  2. If that's how you see it, can't argue with your opinion the player made no difference. But my point remains, caley got to a final. That's still a helluva achievement for a small club.
  3. Not getting at you personally SandyC but this blows my mind. I totally get that Dodds had run his course and the football and results were rotten but ffs he took you to the final of the Scottish cup. That alone should bring in to question any statement along the lines of his tenure being an "awful chapter" surely? I'd love for us to get to a national final in my lifetime, perhaps that's an indication of how pathetic my ambitions are for my club but that's just me.
  4. We have the same problem at the back, though it's never the same player at fault. We are unlikely to keep a clean sheet, with Robbie guaranteed a goal against us, 2-1 'ton is the sensible prediction, but sensible and the championship don't match up well as the 0-3 against Arbroath suggests.
  5. I/we were very impressed with Airdrie in our 2-1 defeat. A very well drilled team with plenty of enthusiasm and creativity, they are many people's outside bet to be second to DU. They were very poor in our LC game at tannadice but seem to have got going since the league started. Dunno if it'll be a factor but Airdrie look the fittest team I've seen so far.
  6. This is pick of the month for me, based solely on last season's encounters mind. Reading some thistle fan's posts in other sites would have me believe we are doomed to the first division already. The reactionist nonsense is absolutely nuts. We are only three games into a season. We were very good for the first 60 v Raith, also most of the game v DU, the rest of the LC games we were ok in parts and v Airdrie we just didn't get going. Can't comment on our game v hearts but f@ck me, they are third/fourth best in the country, let's not get too panicky losing to them in their own stadium. QP should win, Thomas seems to be on form, but it's the championship so who can tell. Most importantly I'm expecting outstanding value for money. So a nil nil bore it'll turn out to be.
  7. Spot on assessment, this could be Fitzy's year. Should be best player in the championship, has all the attributes if his attitude is right he'll be head and shoulders above the rest.
  8. Just my opinion, but having watched Goodwin's teams at Allia and the St Mirren he seems a good coach and judge of players. Doesn't mean he is a good manager though. Also, is he the sole judge of what players your club is buying? Docherty and Holt smell of safety first. They are good championship players so should help get us out of this league? Moult smells of desperation. Not sure Neilson would be an improvement.
  9. I thought "end product" down Greenock way was heroin?
  10. This about sums up what we were discussing last weekend. You should be favourites by the country mile to win the championship, size of club, size of support, size of budget. I mean, you don't need to be a pundit to predict United should be favourites? But the evidence of the players you guys have signed do not stink of league winners, more of securing safety. Strange decision making by someone.
  11. He was a great player for us. Got off to a slow start, took a good six months to settle. Last season was his best. He will do a job for you but that's the thing about DU fans, not all but a sizable section are impatient and quick to judge new players. I don't think you'll give him the time he needs to settle. Same happened with Erskine and we all predicted a number of your fans would be on his back from the start. I really fear for your club, the backroom management of the club is similar to us under JLow. The next owner/custodians will get a fright when they look under the bonnet. Not saying it will happen, but if your manager/players/owner underestimate this league you'll go down again.
  12. I don't disagree with you points, but the main reason that cost us promotion, is of course our bottling inability to manage the game after the penalty. We were still two goals to the good, mentally we came up short. The penalties were the last throw of the dice and we didn't have a strong enough mentality for those. We were even given three chances in the penalties with county players managing to miss when they had the advantage. No one to blame, it's just the break of the ball. Play that game another 9 times and we'd win, but life's not like that, and football definitely isn't like that. Was a cracking atmosphere, a great day out, and I'd argue a game that had excitement and pretty much everything. Not saying it was pure football but it was great fun, and it takes two teams to make it so.
  13. We had a great day out in Dingwall, always fund rossshire people very friendly. No denying it was a horrid experience and even worse drive home. As soon as we scored , all six of us, after celebrating realised how fickle football can be a feared a come back. Any team who are three nil down with twenty minutes to go, no matter the opposition, who recover deserve to win. I feared the worst when some idiots started singing down with united.
  14. A few reasons. The ticketing system doesn't allocate a seat and if that was to be changed by IT people it would be costly. The other option would be to have sold printed tickets with seats on those tickets, but again there is needless costs involved. It might also be the fact that, apart from the point of broken seats already made, Thistle and County only get to share 45% of the gate, after costs are deducted so perhaps the club weren't that "bovvered"? It was fairly chaotic in section 7 of the JHS but it sorted itself out eventually. All added to a cracking atmosphere. I see on my Dingwall ticket there are allocated seats but I doubt anyone will pay any attention to that. Should be a cracking atmosphere.
  15. Have we nearly sold out? I was panicking we wouldn't get tickets as I went to Firhill on Thursday afternoon. I expected a queue but walked in, got them and left. Huge relief. At the point I was told there were around 400 left of a just over 2,000 allocation. Great effort given the distance. Can't help but feel the club are being held to ransom by bus companies, at £30 a head seems a little steep. Supply, demand, short notice I guess.
