  1. Yeah the majority of it sounded entirely unrealistic. Would be interesting to find out how much of this £5m they claimed it would cost would be used up in just putting a basic infrastructure in place and building a new grandstand though. Surely you'd just need to try close off the terraces from unpaying public, fit some turnstiles and get some portaloos for that area, with the new stand giving you hospitality/dressing rooms. Im maybe totally naive about how much that would cost, but as a non-QP fan it would seem better you get a historic proper ground with ties to the club than whats realistically the equivalent of a training pitch hanging out the arse of another ground. I've never been to Lesser Hampden though, and have no idea about circumstances, so thats all just my, probably wrong, opinion.
  2. Third Lanarks owner said over a year ago that the "basic infrastructure" would cost around £250k and they had a "five year plan" to build a 2,000 capacity stand, a training pitch and car park, that would cost £5m. I don't know what state the terracing is in just now, as its been decaying for a long time, but it's possible you could salvage them, build a stand like they had planned and have a cracking stadium. It's been over a year since there's been any word about that though it seems, so maybe far more expensive than they initially thought. This was their plan...
  3. Hopefully brings up Ryan Jacks comments too, where he publicly demanded Collum get demoted
  4. Just to be clear I was on about a independent youth team, not the youth team of a professional club. I don't know which avenue is the easier for children to get involved with.
  5. Tbf i live across from a park where youth teams play and train. Often see them out training, which consists of them standing ten yards from each other in pairs and passing to each other with their strong foot for ten minutes, before they do some laps around the pitch and have a game which descends into a melee after a few minutes with a crowd hunting the ball in unison. Haven't seen anything more technical than that. Think it's an U14 or U12 team. Surely that's not a good sign? Fwiw I'd add that Saints revitalised their youth team six years ago and its only over the past season that the first team has started to witness the benefits. Assume you'd be looking at a larger time frame for International football, so any progress in youth coaching could take 8-10 years to show. Makes this constant "rip it up and start again" process we have regularly a bit silly, no process gets a real chance so coaches just revert to the easiest way.
  6. That the program for the game? Apparently Alan Main started in goal for United. Paddy Connolly, Mixu Paatalenien and Darren Jackson all played for United that day too. Next game was a 1-0 loss at home to St Mirren.
  7. Totten was sacked before I was even one year old, if it was December 92 he left? My earliest memory is being a mascot for a 0-0 game at home to Hibs, other memories include some odd games from that period, and then the John Connolly season. I wish I'd been born a decade earlier.
  8. Yeah, seems like a ploy to further close the Champions League door on clubs.
  9. I can't remember McMillan taking any tbh I'd reckon Swanson is ahead of Craig anyway, no idea how Watt would react to a penalty award either, that article suggests he was desperate to take one once. Either way Swanson was a reliable one for a season and I can't remember him missing one.
  10. Yeah, never read it properly tbh and didnt realise it was home keepers. Suspect we'll have it happen against Aberdeen now, footballs funny like that.
  11. @Radford Anyone answered the Unofficial Twitter question about the last competitive penalty save at McDiarmid yet? Last one was Russell Griffiths of Motherwell, from O'Halloran in the 4-1 game last August, denied him a hat trick. Transfermarkt isnt the most accurate, but they dont list any home saves for Clark, Mannus, Enkleman, Smith, Main or Cuthbert.
  12. Not unless they knock down a swathe of nearby houses for a car park, they won't. For all its flaws McDiarmid has a huge parking area and is a couple of minutes from two major roundabouts to all ends of the country. That's why its held so many events that have nothing to do with Saints. Dundee need to leave Dens if they want a similar income stream. It comes at a non-monetary cost, though.
  13. Who knew that a manager of the calibre of Ray MacKinnon would end up causing such furore by moving sideways. What a world.
  14. I've heard his jobs not under any threat as your owners are fully invested in his "ideals"
  15. Yup, been at Brechin for years now. I genuinely believe he was on of the most exciting young strikers we've had, his illness completely fucked him.
  16. Looked like a man against boys there, that has to be promising. See Blair Alston made the SPFL team of the week.
  17. That's because (sorry @Ludo*1) he's been a fucking disaster there.
  18. He's probably not far off tbf, nobody in the EPL compares, then you're into the Marcelo/Alba/Alabas of the world.
  19. Probably the nicest thing a Dundee fans ever said to me, cheers.
  20. He's always struck me as someone who thinks managing in League One and trying to get promotion to the Championship is better than managing in the Scottish top flight. You'd assume it would take a very, very decent offer to bring him up to a bottom half club.
