  1. It really is though. Like we're the worst side in the league, have no manager, and shipped 3 goals to Ross County the week before, of course Celtic are scoring 5 or more.
  2. Aye, we miss out on the Irish Rowan Alexander and end up with a hipster maniac manager who'll fear nothing. It feels like a win.
  3. I could see Lennon Miller going straight to the Bundesliga, tbh.
  4. https://the18.com/en/soccer-entertainment/i-would-follow-tromso-manager-simo-valakari-end-of-earth To try and encourage more fans to go to games, and invest in the club, he took part in some contest where you go into an outdoor ice bath in Norway. While doing it he gave an "inspirational" speech about how brave fans/players were to come out to watch a side in these conditions to folk who watched.
  5. Tbf he's said himself that talks with him were delayed so he could take charge of today's game.
  6. Tbf their owners are apparently a bit mad. It sounds like if he doesn't take our job they'll punt him for considering leaving, so he was probably trying to work out how to frame things well before realising it was a lost cause regardless.
  7. There's a Rangers fan on Twitter claiming they'll sign Lennon Miller in January for £3m plus a 6 month loan deal for Miller and Bailey Rice.
  8. Apparently everything agreed with Riga compensation wise and talks over personal terms are tonight.
  9. Sounds like the owners at Riga are a nightmare so he'll probably be desperate to get away from that, and he's always talked about loving Scotland and wanting to manage here. I don't think he'd stick around a huge amount of time tbh, especially if a move up the ladder came about, but if he's getting a move like that then he's probably leaving us in a better position than he found us.
  10. Apparently the first half of this game is what Valakari wants too. https://sportacentrs.com/sportacentrs_tv/pilna_spele/25072024-uefa_konferences_ligas_2_kvalifikacijas_k
  11. Tbf it has happened in the past too, we had the whole Paul Cook saga before Lomas was appointed, and Tommy Burns before Billy Stark was hired too.
  12. I doubt it'll be that quick surely? His team just finished playing a game this afternoon. Funnily enough looked up who he played with at Motherwell and wondered about McCulloch too, but he claimed he'd "retired" from coaching after leaving Hearts citing how "laptop-y" football had become as coach.
  13. Yeah Leven was announced as saying at Aberdeen yesterday. He seems to have been desperate to get a Scottish club for years so he'll have applied, and his CV reads well in Finland before moving to Latvia tbf. We're not an attractive club to join just now.
  14. Scott Burns saying Lynch is on a huge wage at Larne and we wouldn't offer him enough to make the move. Simo Valakari, current manager of Riga FC, apparently been offered the job now.
  15. Was reading forums about him last night and most fans were pretty scathing tbh. Claimed he was bang average in the 2nd tier until money came to Larne and suddenly they went flying up the leagues, and apparently almost got sacked a few years ago before splurging to turn it around.
  16. I've asked a Latvian football account on Twitter about him, they're currently playing and he's at it so that game might influence his opinion
  17. They have Latvias number 1 at Riga with him, who has played in England before and who might be out of contract in January.
  18. Its pretty fast paced passing, at Riga anyway. Wide players sit on the touchlines and its all about quick play and getting them 1v1 out wide. I think he'll use Sidibeh or Kimpioka on a flank and have Wright pushed high on the right too like MacLean did for a bit. Defence will be the problem, again, but I guess we'll see. Hes probably got the CV to deserve it tbh. Someones made the point that Scandinavian/Latvian contracts, where he's got a lot of knowledge, expire in December too. We could get a raft of folk from there in January that cost nothing.
  19. Negotiations fail all the time, its a shame its public but it won't be the last time it happens to someone. The issue will come if Valakari doesn't take it. Thats the public "shortlist" wiped out.
  20. FWIW. Honestly, Valakari seems a bollocks out boom or bust type manager and I think a proper mental cult hero isnt going to be a bad thing in terms of getting fans on side? Like he seems the type of manager (on a very, very, small look at things) who'll genuinely play 4-3-3 with Sidibeh/Kimpioka/Kirk up front and try and bludgeon sides to death with pace running at their defence.
  21. We're only 2/3 signings away if everyone else stays at the club and stays fit. Sidibeh could easily just chuck it in a tantrum wanting a move at any point, Kimpioka will be getting PCA offers soon and his head could leave the fight if he knows hes away, Carey might (understandably) have to take a leave of absence soon, and then Wright is probably overdue another bad injury. Suddenly you're weak up front and out wide again and looking for 2/3 in both positions alone.
