Think i agree on the shouts for McCabe, tbh. If we're relegated and probably even if we're not tbh. We need someone who has an identity of not being a shitehawk who's terrified of attacking, and there's evidence they're able to make to work successfully while building a squad on a budget. There's very few boxes he doesn't tick. Issue would be the squad will need rebuilt either way and when the club has zero structure to really support that, if we stay up then the manager has to get virtually everything 100% spot on and get it working quickly too. Another poor league cup campaign and you've already got fans after you.

If we get relegated we won't be in a position to challenge straight away. We're current in a position where we've no owners of the club, those in charge are just biding time for someone to take over, the squad is a complete mess and would be absolutely gutted if we go down, and then we'd be looking for a manager too as Levein would walk (hopefully). County would be different and I'd expect they'd challenge.

Worth remembering that 10 years ago he was appointed as Hearts DOF and spoke as if he wanted to do that rather than manage. His talk about "one last roll of the dice" when taking our job suggests he'll retire after us regardless. There's no chance they're sacking Levein, the only way he leaves is if he just chucks it which might be possible in a Warnock way. I've still no idea what him and Kirk discuss. It took them almost an hour of watching us be doubled up on out wide, which stopped us attacking but also killed us when trying to defend, before changing a thing, and even then they kept the same shape going until the end. It's starts with them, and Levein. We start that game at a high tempo and pressing it brings Hibs mistakes and the fans get onside. We'd probably get countered on but that was happening anyway. Instead we start half paced, sit off Hibs, get passed through anyway, go behind meekly then the players chuck it. Fans respond by getting frustrated and everything. One of the worst St Johnstone performances I can ever remember seeing, when you add in the context of both clubs situations. Last home game on a Saturday for a relegation threatened side, against a half arsed outfit who's managers on the brink, and we play like that. There's nothing about this squad in terms of fight or heart, and with the lack of confidence the quality goes out the window too. All that made worse by a set up that encourages a lack of tempo and lack of passing options. We might scrape 10th but you'd still happily see virtually the entire squad, and manager, dumped.

You question starting him at LCB against this Hibs attack, tbh.

I think thats just sometimes. Im sure when plays down our right you'll often see Gallacher go more central and it's very much a 4-4-1-1, then when teams attack down our left it's more a back 5 as you say.

It's 4-4-1-1 for sure, but with two left backs and nobody playing on the right of midfield, so on paper it's a 5-3-2 It's a shame Sprangler is injured as I'm not sure a proper 4 man midfield works with the other CMs, which is why I think Smith/Max and Gallacher go central a lot defensively.

He got injured at the wrong time. Struggled in the MacLean team, then had a bad injury before Levein came in and I think only returned to training after the winter break. Our form was decent and our defence improved with McGowan back in there, and rightly or wrongly Gordon plays when fit, both look more comfortable in a back 3 to me too, McClelland a back 4 CB. Levein seemed to give a lot of fringe players the option to move on loan for regular football if they wanted it and could get it, and McClelland was one who took that opportunity.
