R u not telling me that frank mcavennie was a better player than Sibbald? Nicholls scored the same amount of goals as sibbald from midfield in about a third of the games. He then proved to be an excellent centre half too.
For Falkirk, Sibbald was & is a better player for the club than McAvennie which was the conversation.
Nicholls was a good player for the club but wouldn't be anywhere near my top 50.0 -
take one of the two Mallos out and Sibbs is in. Hey presto.
Or one of the 2 Davie Nicholls. Neither of which would be in front of Sibbald either.0 -
doh. i did say it was off the top of my head. You can stick in frank mcavennie.
I'm hoping that's a joke.0 -
Yes at the moment but we were talking about by the time the window shuts. He'll be a mile behind by then.
As far as I know you cant play as a trialist in the league cup or in the championship or premier up here.
I think he'll be signed up by someone before the month is out to be honest, nevermind the window closing. He can't play in the league cup but he could play up to 3 league games as a trialist should he/we wish.0 -
He'll be nowhere near ready to play by the close of the window. He needs games and hasn't played any whilst the rest of our squad will have had preseason, league cup and a month of league games under their belt by then.
He's had the same pre season training as the rest of our squad minus a couple of bounce games (I include the Stirling game in that category). He's a young, fit guy. It won't take him long at all to get up to speed for the competitive games wherever he is.0 -
The view is decent from the West stand but their are far too many old moaners for my liking and even when Albion scored the late consolation yesterday, some just couldn't help themselves.
I've been in the south stand since it opened and will only move now permanently whenever an East stand is up.0 -
Predict the line up for today's game?
Will we be full strength for Stirling Albion?
I'd like to see O'Hara and Finlayson start this one.
I think we'll be as full strength as we can be.0 -
I reckon full strength with fringe players being left till Tuesday. Anyone know if we gave any injuries?
3 injured lads are back in the squad.0 -
Poor Joe, he works at my work and drinks in my local, I will be sure to remind him he is well thought of.
what kind of crowd are we expecting tomorrow ? pricing is spot on. Taking my boy and nephew along as well.
I think it'll be bigger than last years home crowds due to the lower price (£12 last year) & also it's the first game for many to see the team/new players.
Don't think it'll be massive but could hit 2,000.0 -
Marshall

McQueen, Sibbald & Cadette as the subs.0 -
I agree. At the moment he's probably in line with the rest but their now going to have 4 league cup games under their belts before the league season starts. He won't be able to play in any of them unless he signs so to me come August the 5th he will be well off the pace of the others.
Being honest, I think he'll sign back on when he comes back. Just a feeling.0 -
It's a tough one for FFC. If we take the deal off the table to give to someone else then we'll get hee haw from another club for Sibbs.
But if we keep it on the table & Sibbs signs for someone else say mid August. Then it's likely anyone we do want is probably gone.
Re him not being match fit, he's only missed 2 bounce games & he's been training with us & then Luton for the last fortnight. I'd doubt he's well off the pace of the others.0 -
He obviously feels we are now beneath him otherwise he wouldn't be going to training camps with no guarantee...works both ways of course... someone offered 150k he would be gone.
I don't think that's the case at all. He's gave us 6 years of great service & deserves a chance to see what's out there, he's out of contract remember.
If he signs the 2 year deal on the table, great. If he doesn't and moves on, best wishes to him but he'll never think FFC is beneath him.0 -
It's getting silly now. The season won't be lost after game 1 regardless of whether Harris or anyone else has a shite game.

On another note, was sad to see Farid last night in that situation.
I'll never forget the season he gave us but looks a shadow of that confident guy now.
He looks fit enough (upper body) but his knees are obviously shot to shit. He had a foot race with one of our defenders (Grant I think) and he got nowhere near him.
When he got subbed he walked round the pitch towards the pavilion, a few fans interacted with him but he looks a beaten man.0 -
We'll just need to hope so. I was hoping that if we were only signing a couple of players they both would have shown their quality previously at this or a higher level.
There is an argument he's shown it previously at Hibs in the Premiership when he first broke through 3 years ago.0 -
My view on last night:
GKs - Thomson talks the defence/midfield all through the game & knows his stuff. Good couple of saves including one at point blank. Mitchell was barely tested in the 2nd half so hard to tell how he is. His distribution pre match to Thomson for handling training was awful & after the 4th crap cross on the bounce Thomson went mental at him. Good lad.
DEF: Kidd was poor in the first 45 and was rightly subbed at HT with Muirhead going to RB in the 2nd half. Who had a very good 2nd half until replaced by Finlayson who looked decent in the 10mins he got. Grant/Muirhead/Gasparotto all did well at CH and Grant looks a great captain already. Gallacher & Henderson didn't put a foot wrong at LB.
MID: Harris was the best on the night and covered every blade of Astro. Crossing was good too & set up 2 goals. Looks like he has a point to prove. McKee played well & had his usual game. Taiwo & Sheps were poor imho and when replaced by Kerr & Blues we were much more commanding. To be fair to Sheps, I gather he was only in due to Craigen & Hippo having had knocks the night before. Young lad Stowe came on & played well too.
FWD: Great overall play by the forwards & Fash took his goal well. Rory had flashes but nothing came off for him last night but class is permanent. O'Hara had a good 15mins, took his goal well and looked hungry for more. Miller was his sexy self and had a few good passes/knock downs.
Good wee game to go too & a decent set up at Spartans, even though the Astro is poor. Looked like the vast majority of the 350 crowd were Bairns fans tbh.
Roll on Saturday.0 -
Craigen & Hippo took knocks in a bounce game with Queens Park last night but will be back in training on Thursday.
Watson picked up a knock on Friday but will be back training this week. All good.0 -
Sun is splitting the skies in Edinburgh currently. Hoping to see a few goals tonight.

Don't normally go to friendlies, but it's not far from my work and I'm choking on a bit of live football. Hoping the rain holds off as there's only 500 covered seats, although that may be an optimistic turnout.
I'll be standing I think anyway. Forecast is dry & sunny for tonight.0 -
Anyone going along to the match tonight?

Sibbs will be a huge miss. I'd love him to stay on but I fear it's a foregone conclusion that by hook or by crook he'll be sold on, probably for less than the fee he should carry.
There is an argument for his own career, he needs to move on but that's not looking through the navy blue glasses that we tend to do.0 -

Cheers. Was putting 2+2 together and assuming he was going away with Rotherham (& Vaulks) to Austria.0 -
Rumours Sibbald off to a training camp abroad with an English lower league side
Austria?0

Don't mind Union flags as long as it's got Falkirk FC on it.
Playing well today & already an improvement on last seasons squad & results in this competition.
