We need to get ourselves in a position to buy the percentage of the stadium off the council asap. Hopefully there's an opportunity whenever the new council offices are built & they are keen to offload their share.

Good interview with Houstie on FFCTV.
My take on his comments:
1) As BPM mentions too, sounds like we are done on recruitment until someone leaves (would assume Sibbs but suppose someone could come in for Gallacher)
2) Thomson to start ahead of Mitchell in goal.
3) Happy that he's got 2 in each position for the full backs (Kidd/Muirhead for RB & Gallacher/Henderson for LB), 5 players for CH, 7 players who can play across the middle & 5 who can play up front.
4) Loy & Austin preferred front pairing0 -
I think us signing a LB will depend on Gallacher leaving. I think they are grooming Henderson into a LB although to be fair, I think he's played there a fair bit for the U20s

United selling 3800 STs isn't good, they budgeted for 4500 according to my United supporting colleague. They had over 5000 last season so that budget is way down even taking into consideration less away supports and a lesser payment from the premiership.
This league is there for the taking. Let's just do this Falkirk.0 -
Season ticket update (from twitter)
Dundee united 3880 (5th July)
St mirren 2631 (6th July)
Falkirk 2500 (1st July)
Dunfermline 2234 (23rd june)
I heard we had continued to sell well the last few days following pay day etc. Wouldn't be surprised if we are now over 2,600. Fully expect us to hit 3,000 again come the league KO.0 -
Hate to break it to you, but Falkirk earned zero credit for that omnishambles of a side being relegated off its own back by October. So your factoid is absolutely meaningless then.
Thanks for playing anyway.
No you're right the 10 points we took off you that season had no relevance....0 -
Raith didn't bring through 3000 fans and you've got similar season ticket sales to us. How odd.
Scrambling to be one of the big boys (in a small pond) with this shite.
At a quick glance you had just under 5000 at one game v Raith and over 5600 at the next so you will be impacted by RR not being in the league at both the home & away turnstiles. Your crowds for the non big games were 2500 so good luck with that.0 -
Did you have the pleasure of seeing Loy when he was in the Championship with us or were you kicking about the seaside leagues at that point? [emoji14]
Loy was in the side that helped relegate Morton to their usual position in the Diddy leagues yes. Season 13/14 I'm sure.0 -
The DAFC board are as open & honest as they need to be so that you all keep pumping in your monthly subs. FWIW they will be delighted we lost out in the play offs so you can continue to hoover up the Navy Blue Pounds.

Concerning?
Someone mentioned that the Bairns Business Club funded the deal for Loy but it wasn't the full deal, it was only a %.
Great that they were able to support though as without it (& Dundee's pay off) I'd be surprised if he wasn't remaining at Dens Park seeing out his very decent contract.0 -
Is the fact that we needed/got outside help to sign Loy a sign that the coffers are empty? Or will there be more reinforcements coming in?
I think someone has to go before more come in from what I've heard. But that's not concrete. Assume that'd be someone paying for either Sibbs, Gallacher or both.0 -
It looks like the Bairns Business group funded this signing. Fair play to them for handing over their cash.
Not all but a %.0 -
Loy will be "Bairn again" this week

There's absolutely no chance he's on the same wage as he was as a player. That's just ridiculous.

How's the heid today?
Rough.
Safe trip to Budapest with the guys! Enjoy!0 -
Just think we are short on quality
Don't disagree mate. Hopefully there are developments over the next 5 weeks before the the first real fixture.0 -
Where is the leader in midfield?
Not convinced defensively or the physicality of that team. Short by at least 2 players
I'd be hoping McKee.
Being honest, I think Houstie would have Taiwo in for Craigen in all honesty.0 -
Assuming Rory dots the i's & crosses the Ts with Dundee & Sibbs goes. I think our starting X1 looks fairly strong. We've also, still, got at least 2 players for each position bar LB (awaits McHattie signing if the rumour is true).
Thomson/Mitchell
Muirhead
Grant
Gasparotto
Gallagher
Harris
Craigen
McKee
Hippolyte
Austin
Loy
Subs
Mitchell, Kidd, Watson, Kerr, Taiwo, Miller, O'Hara0 -
At least that would suggest that Houston still realises we have a problem at right back. Makes you wonder why kidd hasn't been told he can find another team if he wants some regular game time.
Still under contract & doubt we'd have money to pay him off. I'd keep him anyway for cover.0 -
Somebody posted on the COYB page that the club had left three spaces without names against them on the plane. I believe that info came from Barrhead Travel, which didn't go down particularly well at FFC. It was just that the final names of the travelling party hadn't been decided at the point.
Within a few hours of the COYB post going up there were various "ITK" posts on here about at least two signings, maybe three, and I think someone even suggested four.
It was always a load of pish. As Houston has now said in public, there is one very definite target on the radar and at the moment that's it. I suspect there may be more players to arrive later but a couple of other things need to happen first.
As one of a few folk who intimated signings were afoot, the board need to remember that loose lips sink ships then.
The Barrhead rumour aside, not much doesn't get leaked from either the BOD or club workers who like a blether.
I had heard that we were looking to sign 2 players this week and from what I can see 1 may still happen as the funds are there (with help) and the other potential signing having followed Leahy south of the border.

Were Hibs given 3000 tickets for each game, i.e., part of the main stand? Canny mind!
Nope. North stand only for both games.0 -
Was down renewing earlier & it was fairly busy.
The new casual wear looks decent too for anyone not wanting a new top/unable to.0 -
5 weeks till the first proper meaningful match, plenty of time yet.
The existing squad and additions so far will take care of the BetFred matches.0 -
We didn't know which league we'd be in.
I'd also question if we'll pass both those clubs. Can see there being a big drop off with the early bird so close to finishing.
You'd be surprised how many normally buy post EB finishing. Anything from 300-500 in the last couple of seasons.0

Yeah, I'd wait till they need to sell & see what they want to get rid.
