  1. Not really much to report really. Come on in the last 15 minutes against St Johnstone and played well at centre back as we just sat back trying to defend a lead and clear our lines. Played the last 20 minutes at centre back on Saturday against Inverness as we tried to fight our way back into the game and looked decent enough. He'll get more opportunities I imagine. Kevin Holt was actually dropped/rested for the last game but Gary Irvine was picked ahead of him at left back. I suspect that if Holt isn't playing in the future, Meggatt will be given an opportunity.
  2. May will be a Rotherham player by Tuesday I think. He's played one season down south and there is no reason for him to give up and move back here when teams are interested in him.
  3. Hartley got asked about Tankulic yesterday and said something about him having a knock and being out for a month. Hartley is brilliant for misdirection.
  4. It doesn't really help Holt that our back three went on a slow walk around and only waited until they were a yard away from him and he was surrounded before we finally made the pass. I'd actually be a bit controversial and say that by his standards, Harkins was poor. He's meant to be influential and have the ability to dictate the play but the amount he dwelled on the ball instead of turning it round and switching the play quickly just played to Dunfermline's strengths. Maybe he can't play a role in a deep position like that but he's got to make some sort of effort to adjust to our needs and realise he can't play the exact same way deep in his own half.
  5. If it is true (which I still doubt), we'd be in need of a striker more (we've often fielded Stewart, Loy and Hemmings together and with Loy's injury issues, we need someone for the bench). Maybe we'd make two signings but then I'd imagine Swanson would be on a hefty wage. Wright leaving St Johnstone to free up wages for him seems more likely IMO
  6. Stephen McGinn and Jim McAllister both had offers on the table for a while and the last signing we made was Nick Ross who Hartley has been after for a while. I reckon the budget is there and we'll probably end up using it but Hartley just wants to hold off and see how likely injuries are going to be in different positions.
  7. McGowan's tag come off yesterday I think (order was 16 weeks and sentencing was on 15th April) . Think the whole 12th date was confusion caused by someone asking if he'd miss the derby.
  8. Bruised his foot and should be back for Saturday.
  9. Didn't Richard Brittain also break his leg at Dens too? I think I've only seen Ross County players break their legs at Dens.
  10. Surely Cardle and Davo aren't that pricey? Dunfermline in League One surely would be able to match the part time teams in the First Division and keep within budgetary constraints. Unless either player is planning to move down south, they really haven't got many options that would lead you to think that they are being offered that much.
  11. Really hope we do try a 3 at the back in a similar system to this in one of the friendlies we have left. Even if it isn't the preferred system, it's a brilliant option to have if things go bad and you want to stop leaking goals. Only issue I can see is that it puts more responsibility on the wing backs to get forward and attack. Holt has played in that role for Queen of the South and excelled in the second tier but neither McGinn nor Irvine look particularly confident going forward. Hopefully, we get a good look at Kerr in the next few games and see what sort of level he's at. His playing style suits that sort of system (and the way we play in general without wingers) more than Irvine and McGinn but it might still be a bit early for him.
  12. Might be wrong but come across him a few times at boys football (after Michelin had dissolved) and I always thought he was a centre half who wanted to play up the park. Somebody told me that the reason he left Dundee to join Inverness was because Dundee were playing him at the back which had him take the huff. He is a talented guy (which is why he keeps ending up with clubs) but really needs to find a bit of focus when he plays.
  13. How much is it in tonight? Any student gate?
  14. 2019 in the event of EU referendum exit but going by current projections, we will vote to remain in the EU. It's hard to predict the future structure of the EU though and opinion does shift fast. It could be an interesting couple of years. If it does happen though, I'm not totally convinced it'll be enough to get the independence argument over the line. It may well pick up a couple of points but the fundamental economic argument is still going to be rather similar. If played badly, it could well kill the movement. If it is the case that a referendum will come this soon, the planning really needs to be in place at this very moment. To win this soon, the argument needs to be emphasised that we can handle the short term fall-out and have a government with hundreds of experts flown in from all over the world and a team ready to execute the plan. Salmond spoke about 'Team Scotland' a lot and to be honest, I think he should have taken the criticism he would have received if he'd started making phone calls and actually putting it in place around the time of the white paper. I'll go for 2027 under an SNP minority administration propped up by the Greens and ex Labour members who have formed their own group. One of the biggest problems we have is that when we discuss devolving power to the Scottish Parliament, the electorate expect the pace of change to be quite a bit faster than is actually normal. For this reason, I see it being at least 10 years from now where a credible yes campaign can actually say 'Look we've given it a try but it isn't working out'. Another point we have to remember is that the sooner a referendum takes place, the more likely it'll be attacked by the failures of this referendum. On currency, oil forecasts and banking, the 'Yes' message was confused and too open to attack. It will still be an issue at the next campaign but there are much better ways that it could have been managed.
  15. We're only able to offer £7k. Got knowledge of the Dundee budget straight from the St Johnstone kit man.
  16. Anyone know where there is a video of that (that's not filmed on a potato)?
  17. There was meant to be some event at the start of the season but it was cancelled. Think they have made the event when they hand over the top to make up for that.
  18. Yeah this is accurate. Progress on the top has been very slow but it does actually exist and more will be posted when everything is ready to be drawn. Probably June next year or something.
  19. After befriending Rowan Atkinson's daughter at a caravan park in Norfolk, Fraizer Campbell become close friends with the comedy actor and his family. When Campbell was given a large offer from FC Goa in 2014, he sought the advice of Atkinson and opted to reject the move. This year, Campbell had his first child and named him Raymond (after the character Atkinson played in The Thin Blue Line).
  20. I've heard he plays on the right side. Can anyone confirm this?
  21. Imagine they will have already had some deadline imposed on them to make their mind up (but not necessarily sign on that date). Today might be the day given it's the end of the week.
