Off the top of my head:

    14/15

Good for Ayr - Blakeman, Preston, McKenna

Didn’t work out - Neil, Robertson, Slane (can’t remember if McCall signed him)

    15/16

Good for Ayr - Fleming, Graham, McLauchlan, Boyle, Docherty, McCrorie, Adams, Moore, Trouten, Preston

Didnt work out - Stevo, Caldwell, Hodge

    16/17

Good for Ayr - Hart (never got much of a look in that season and done ok when called upon), Rose, McDaid

Didn’t work out - Balatoni, McKenna, Meggat, Cairney, Harkins, El Alagui, O’Connell, Nisbet, Thomas

    17/18

Good for Ayr - Hare-Reid (same as Hart), Higgins, Reid, Ferguson, Bell, Geggan, Kerr, Moffat, Shankland

    Dudnt work out - Ruddy

    18/19

Good for Ayr - Doohan, Smith, Harvie, Murdoch

    In the middle - Muirhead

Didn’t work out - Miller, Cadden

    19/20

    Who knows?

Harsh, both Balatoni and Meggat were decent. We were just so poor as a team that year that they got ripped apart.

I reckon 1994 Paolo Maldini and Franco Baresi would’ve looked shit had they been in the Ayr team that season.

I work in the finance industry and know exactly how all this technology works (or doesn't work as the case sometimes can be), however I still maintain that putting your hand in your pocket and handing over a £20 note isn't really a hardship and is in fact far simpler than buggering about with your mobile phone, selecting an app and then scanning it in the hope that the reader is working ok.

Of course, that doesn't suit the narrative that we're all being fed so nobody will ever say it as it really is.

On the plus side, it is better from a security perspective at local level as there should be no cash handling by the turnstile operators and it should also be far simpler from an HMRC perspective for the club, so that's my balanced opinion on it.

Anyway, happy enough with the price increase and will be straight in there for a season ticket and then I won't have too worry / moan about the E-Vouchers !!!

I don’t see any issue with moving to a cashless entry system to be honest. Got to virtually any major event and you’ll need to buy a ticket in advance, there aren’t many that accept cash on the door now.

All the major gig venues now offer e-ticketing, yes some of our older supporters may need to arrive a wee bit earlier to buy a ticket from the shop  but it’s a small sacrifice.

I’d imagine the time taken to count gate receipts, the hassle of taking cash to the bank plus the security of holding it until Monday and the risk of theft from the turnstile operation all add up. Not to mention bank charges for depositing cash.

i would be interested to know what the deal is with the ticketing company, how much of a cut they take, I’d presume it’s a small % of each transaction.

    Not quite.

Us cutting our budget would still mean us having a larger budget than Ayr, providing we spend it well, unlike last season I'd imagine we'd be hoping to finish above Ayr.

Likewise Partick will hope to have there shit together, and they'll still have a parachute payment from the Spfl. Conversely Inverness will have to make cuts if they don't go up. You can't rule out Morton entirely, budget wise they'll be similar to you, if they hit a goldmine of a player ala Shankland they'll be wanting the playoffs.

Getting into them will be mega competitive as always, for Ayr to get in your hoping a team with a bigger budget fucks up.

A team like Dunfermline would do nicely.

  4. I’d def be keeping Moff, Bell, Geggan and  Kerr but would be heavily weighing the last 2’s contracts on appearances.

Whilst Bell is unspectacular he is dependable and versatile. Geggan is also versatile, able to play in midfield or right back. I expect David Ferguson will return and claim the RB spot so Geggan is a useful backup.

What all 4 of those guys give us is experience and will be good to have around the club.

Because we don't know what is happening.

Bit of a gamble signing someone when you have absolutely no idea as to whether they will be allowed to work in the country from April

Pretty sure both the EU and the UK government have already said that existing EU citizens  won’t need a work permit in the UK and UK citizen who live/work in Europe will be the same.

in fact if anything this is the best time to sign some Europeans, before any restrictions come in to play!

    McDaid was outstanding last night

I wouldn’t say he was outstanding last night. Last week yes but certainly not last night.

Granted he did well down the left to get some balls across and scored a tap in but I wouldn’t put any of our players in the outstanding category after that first half shitshow.

For an attacking midfielder he hasn’t scored enough this season and to be honest his final ball isn’t always very good.

If anything was evident last night, we need a midfielder who’ll just hit the fucking ball towards goal. Doc, Crawford and Murdoch just play side to side. Their third is something we’re missing in our artillery.

You can add mcdaid to that list.

I remember when he first signed he would shoot continuously, now he seems content trying to turn his man inside out then passing.

...absolutely average as he has been for months, he’s McCall’s biggest blind spot.

Tremendous effort from all, Docherty & Moffat especially.

Can we agree right now to start McDaid in all remaining 15 league games on the left where he’s far more effective. Great to see Moore look like his former self, didn’t think that was the right type of situation to reintroduce Shankland, Moore can count himself really unlucky to not finish the game.

I disagree. I actually thought it was a well thought out move.

We all know the huge morale boost of having Shankland leading the line. At that point we were being heavily pegged back.

As soon as Shankers came on there was a huge boost across the team and we started to look dangerous again.

He gave us an outball to allow us to hold on, something we didn’t have with Moore. He was a bit off his usual pace though but the run out will have worked wonders.
