If we were to sell only one , who would it be ? I think out of the 3 biggest assets that I would sell Forrest or Harvie   ( rather than them signing pre contracts) as they are likely to move for nothing at end of season , McCowan we have the luxury of another year

What age is Forrest now? Surely we’d be due a decent development fee?

I wonder if the recent board resignations has anything to do with the cost cutting at the club? Our budget was slashed this year and going by what I’ve heard on the grapevine will be slashed again next season with us trying to promote more players from the academy which is either going to work out well or be a total disaster.

Heard on the grapevine or made up in your head?

if be very surprised if any decisions had been made at this stage when we are a quarter of the way through this season and have no idea what income we could potentially have from prize money or potential player sales.

Really wish people would just keep quiet instead of making up baseless stories.

Listened to the latest Simon Ferry podcast and each of the panel were wholesome in their praise of John Kennedy as both a player and coach.

Would somebody with this profile want to apply and be his own man?

Clearly well connected, played and worked with top players both domestically and internationally.

Just a thought until we get final confirmation and announcement of who has got the job.

Funny you say that actually. I was just thinking yesterday that John kennedy or similar type appointment might be interesting. I actually thought o Paul Sheerin too.

Without being in the know I can only presume the Burley "rumour" is an attempt at a modern day David Bingham type p!sstake?

That would be as left field as anyone could ever have imagined.

Haha honestly no attempt from me to take the piss.

I had completely forgotten about him until I saw the previous post.

genuinely don’t think he would be the worst appointment, certainly doesn’t strike the same fear as Canning and Yogi.

Even if he was sacked beforehand Sunderland would probably still be due a compo fee likely bigger than our seasons budget.

Also made me wonder actually how good a manager he really is and he's really struggled down at Sunderland, personally don't think he'd entertain coming to us, if he goes anywhere in Scotland  it could be Hibs.

What makes you think if Sunderland sack him they’d be due compo? If he’s unemployed he is entitled to seek employment at another club without prejudice. Would be different if he resigned. Only snag would be if he was effective placed  on gardening leave or if his payout from Sunderland has a condition that if he is reemployed in a certain timeframe he loses some of it. In both these situations it would be Jack arose taking the hit, not Ayr.

Yeah he’s struggled at Sunderland but they are a basket case of a club. They are still carrying some players from the Premiership so their wage bill must be horrendous. They have also been under embargo so their transfer dealings this year are limited.

He did a good job with Alloa prior to St Mirren.

Im sure if he does become available he’ll have bigger offers than us.

  6. A fucking billboard.... 😂

its 2019 not 1919, there are any number of ways that a potential supporter can see when the next game is on without the club spunking cash on a fucking advertising medium that belongs in the last century.

if they were going to waste money on advertising the sensible thing would be to spend it on targeted Facebook ads which we can at least measure the number of views rather than something that we have no method of assessing.

"Hopefully in the near future" ?

So you are looking forward to him leaving too?

We need a new owner who is going to drive the club forward both on and off the park. The club has been neglected for far too long. Time for change at the top!

In what way has the club been neglected?

What you are looking for is not an owner it’s a sugar daddy.

End of the day we have been a provincial club in Scotland’s 2nd and 3rd tiers for around 40 years, who exactly are you expecting to pump money into us?

Hughes might not actually be too bad a fit for Ayr at the moment. You've got a decent team and are playing well. He took over at ICT when Butcher went to Hibs (lol) and took a pretty smooth running outfit and made them perform even better (after an initial bumpy start). It fell apart for Hughes at ICT when he had to start bringing his own players and he failed miserably.

Long term he might not be a great option but for the next couple of years he could probably do you a wee turn.

Given we pretty much need to rebuild every summer, Yogi would be a dreadful decision we can ill afford.

That's a good point and presumably Falkirk offered him much more cash and transfer budget than we could ever match last season.

I see this as being very similar to the Falkirk situation last year. They’ll offer him more cash and a bigger budget but ultimately he’ll stay put.

You’d have to be a mad man to join a club who are trying to push takeover plans through. What if their new rich owners come in and want to bring their own man in?
