  1. “managers, players or officials getting down with the kids on Facebook and Twitter” [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
  2. Remember a league game in 71-72 at Boghead when Albion Rovers appeared in a minging ‘primrose’ yellow kit with white sleeves. Ref decided to despatch Sons to change from white kit to gold midway through first half.
  3. I can’t comment on some of the other stuff as I’m not sure of the ins and outs. On the catering, I know that Robert Sloan, who is indeed an excellent caterer, semi retired a couple of years ago and a new caterer started at the Rock. My understanding was that Robert went back on an interim basis when the new guy didn’t work out. I know all the guys who have tried it over time (Robert Mills, Joe Milan and Robert Sloan) and they all say the one thing - that it’s difficult to make a decent profit from the DFC catering operation. As for hospitality selling out at the festive season, I’d be very surprised indeed if that were the case.
  4. Obviously Colm feels strongly but it never comes over well when the name calling starts. There is more personal stuff on there now about the Sonstrust director. The club appears not to be in a great place.
  5. “Been keeping quiet since my sacking from Dumbarton” 🤣🤣🤣
  6. I've heard that he was a dedicated guy behind the scenes. When there's a change in manager there's often a changeover in backroom staff.
  7. " "your" is probably the most misused word on social meeja. Those tambourines!
  8. What on earth is McGowan doing at Nisbet's equaliser? Also, although he (McGowan) is also culpable for Murray's goal, I can't see Dyer anywhere near where he is supposed to be.
  9. Having watched the highlights and having been at the Brechin and Stenny games, I think it stems from two things. 1) Lack of fitness - this can be worked on 2) Lack of heart/courage.
  10. Darn! I meant to include him of course! Even Dylan Easton! (Forfar)
  11. I'm just thinking of the ex-Sons mentioned on the radio in the last 24 hours. All doing quite well apparently as they are all playing in sides above us in the SPFL. Alan Lithgow and Steven Saunders (Livingston) Jordan Kirkpatrick (St Mirren) Scott Taggart, Andy Graham (too slow at this level 4 years ago?) and Kevin Cawley (Alloa Ath) Allan Martin (QoS) Kevin Nisbet, Chris Duggan and Lewis Vaughan (Raith) and Scott Agnew and Scott Linton (East Fife) Feel free to add any that I've missed. Cheer up though, it looks like the Bosman ruling might not apply here after March 29th 2019. We'd have got at least 17/6 for the players above, enough for the deposit on an EU travel warrant. Make true love to your lover,When the moon's high in the sky.'Cause you'll always miss the water when the well goes dry... (Ray Charles)
  12. The founder came from Rhu and died in Dumbarton.
  13. 23rd December although this is open to interpretation. The first verifiable record of a game taking place involving Dumbarton FC was on 12th April 1873 v Jamestown. This isn't to say that games might have taken place before that but it was the first accompanied by a report in the local paper. "Play was enlivened in the second half with the introduction of a lighter ball, the first evidently being meant for rugby playing" (source: club history)
  14. He implied on Faceache that he was domiciled in Cornwall.
  15. Is this our goalkeeper and back four for Saturday? They look as if they could add some much-needed ruggedness and determination than that provided by the current lot.
  16. If Paddy were to travel from Cornwall to Scotland to see a game, I doubt it'd be a cup tie between Airdrie and Dumbarton.
  17. Just fancy that! From Holy Willie's Prayer by Robert Burns O Lord my God! that glib-tongu'd Aitken, My vera heart an' flesh are quakin, To think how we stood sweatin, shakin, An' pish'd wi' dread, While he, wi' hingin lip an' snakin, Held up his head. English translation: O Lord my God! that glib-tongued Aitken,My very heart and body are quaking,To think how we stood sweating, shaking,Wetting ourselves with dread,While he, the smooth talking snake,Was able to win his case.
  18. Paddy seems to talk in the abstract. It’s all down to “getting more out of the players” and other general comments. He doesn’t seem to have many comments pertinent to how things could be improved. He claims to have been at the game on Saturday. I’d be interested to know if anyone saw him.
