  1. I wasn't waving a flag for Murray earlier, just that I wouldn't be averse to his return. It all depends if he has applied. If he has it deserves consideration and reservation in equal measure.
  2. Willo Flood has had a very stop start career as a player. Listened to him on Off the Ball yesterday and he didn’t sound like someone ready to take control of a struggling club. If the club did interview yesterday, then they’re not hanging about and would mean that they’ve focussed on who wants the job rather than who might want it if they don’t get another job. Whilst it would take quite a bit of rapprochement and humble pie from both sides and a wariness of how things often turn out second time around, I wouldn’t be averse to a Murray return. It all depends if he’s applied but it’s surely likely that he has.
  3. To be fair Jordo, whilst agreeing that Allan is both a passionate fan and a decent bloke, unfortunately he invited much of the ridicule on himself by some rather bizarre and ill judged comments. That I’m afraid, is the nature of social media. P&B is every bit as much social media as Facebook or Twitter. That said, I hope he recants and continues supporting the team. He’d be better giving up Facebook tbh.
  4. Even the drunks were well dressed in those days!
  5. Ok, my first Sons games were the League Cup semis at Hampden in 1970 - where there were plenty of invalid cars present there I suppose. There might have been the odd one or two at other games but they came out in force for the big games. There were always stories of able-bodied relatives borrowing disabled relatives' cars to get a close-up view.
  6. There were invalid cars (The Invacar) at Boghead sometimes, usually when the Old Firm came to visit. I wonder if any old timers remember the first time Rangers came to visit Boghead on top league business in over 50 years? Quite seriously there was an old dear whose last wish was to see Rangers one more time before she died. She was lifted into place. in her hospital bed by a crane (I am not making this up) at the old stand (Dumbuie Avenue side). Anyway, here's a photo of some Invacars at an OF game in the 70s. Nae numbers on the Celtic shirts, only the shorts.
  7. Duffy has been pretty much whoring himself for the Thistle job; it's clear that an approach to him would fail at this stage. I have no idea if Duffy is someone who interests the board. In any case, the board have (in my view correctly) invited applications to see who is interested. It would be a pretty strange way to go about things to invite applications and then go after a target. I'd expect applications, shortlist, interviews and then an appointment. That would be unless there was a single outstanding candidate, negating the shortlist.
  8. We may indeed but there Is a good number on there that I'm sure dont even know we exist never mind consider us There are several there who wouldn't consider us. They'll all know we exist. Looking at it, the only name that has been seriously suggested here is Jim Duffy. He may not interest the board at DFC but if he does they would be as well waiting. Duffy has, at various stages in his career shown willingness to drop a level to keep his career going. If the board aren't considering Duffy then the timing becomes irrelevant unless Airdrie are after the same target.
  9. Quite amusing to see Stevie quoted for the Thistle job at the same odds as Shelley Kerr.
  10. Duffy has been touting himself for the Thistle job since the vacancy became available. As I have said before If we can wait till Thistle appoint we might have a wider choice of candidates.
  11. The Airdrie fans are obviously in a ferment of excitement. No one has made a comment on their thread for 22 hours. Then again they probably have their own chat site.
  12. Didn't you see this? "Axe" and Stevie's comments can't mean anything else but the sack. Indeed "sack" is mentioned in the article.
  13. Yes, it is and I wasn't recommending it, just stating the prosaic reality of such situations. It's happened several times in my time supporting the Sons, going back to Jackie Stewart and Alex Wright, then Wright and Davie Wilson. Personally, I think there's likely to be a better candidate(s) emerge from the applications but imagine an appointment hadn't been made and the interim boss won at Arbroath. Unlikely as that may seem, stranger things have happened. It would be wise I think to wait until after the Thistle appointment has been made. Jim Duffy, for example, has publicly ruled himself into that scenario.
  14. If interested, he’ll hang around in the hope of getting the gig. The job ad does state interim/permanent. If he is in place then it means he’ll take the team for the Arbroath game in which case he’ll be the de facto interim boss. He did that at Rangers. It could be that he’s been asked to stay meantime and to submit an application. If that were the case I’d expect the players to do the usual thing that players tend to do and make pleas in the media (social and otherwise) for the incumbent to get the job.
  15. Not sure if anyone has read the criteria for the new manager. I doubt that it'll be anyone untried
  16. For the avoidance of doubt,I wasn’t being entirely serious as some seem to have missed.
  17. I felt the urge to post there this morning, Let’s see what they make of some logic and reasoned discussion. I think some may struggle with something that can’t be turned into a slogan [emoji23][emoji23]
  18. Don't you think Durrant might apply for the job?
  19. The club statement is very carefully worded and gives due credit to Stevie way beyond the usual "We thank him for his efforts and wish him well". I don't think it has been an easy decision but after the defeats by Raith and Stranraer there was an inevitability about it. Good luck to him. I notice Ian Durrant and Craig McPherson are still listed on the website as Assistant Manager and Coach.
