  1. Whooshed? Never! I use Dymo tapes for cataloguing my ever growing 8 track tape collection.
  2. When something becomes a fiasco it's serious. I'm making no predictions because I took us for a draw on Saturday. However I'd rather be in our position than Livi's.
  3. He's in the 1997 Royal Navy team here http://www.royalmarinesfootball.co.uk/rnfa-1990-s-gallery.htmlalong with the amusingly named 'Dutchy' Holland, 'Dodger' Long and Davie Wilson....I kid you not. Just think, in those days, we had a coach from Faslane.......but it didn't take us far. Anyone know where I can get Dymo tape these days? the roll I bought in 1976 has just run out.
  4. I always thought that a name assembled from the Christian name of the Beatles drummer and the surname of the Rolling Stones drummer was a curious one.
  5. Does anyone remember 'Assistant Manager Peter Allan?'
  6. A few more here http://www.donaldfullartonphotos.co.uk/photo_7749117.html Yon was a great change strip....
  7. OKI and I are privy to a pretty hilarious (true) story about the Chizz. Not for sharing here but those who know us remind us to tell you the story in person.
  8. Last heard of at Annan, now 'unattached' http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/iain-chisholm/profil/spieler/63639 Did he really ping back and forward from Annan to Arthurlie as much as that page suggests?
  9. Referring to the Shire as 'East Stirling' is akin to referring to Dumbarton as Dunbar.
  10. Paul is an excellent player and a very nice lad.
  11. You might be surprised to learn that Rangers expressed an interest in Paul when he was with us. McCoist was an admirer.
  12. Some people are no' happy, unless they're no' happy. I know a Sons fan with bad luck in choice of games to attend and who expresses views not that dissimilar to those stated by Sonsational. I might be a bit pissed off if I'd shelled out for a hotel in Dundee and missed the Hibs win too......
  13. He did and as I said he was a great guy. I brought up his name as a comparative and have no wish to dwell on criticising Alex. However I don't think my comment was unfair in the wider context of dealing with complaints, the press etc.
  14. As I said, Alex was a great guy when you got to know him.
  15. There was a season in the second division (now league one) where our average was 1100 or so. Morton were in the same division at the time. Think it may have been 2003-04
  16. Aye you're right. 7 points from 9 in our last three home games, two of which were against the team occupying second place at the time is good going. It's also probably not the right time to have a go at the board. I can only imagine the effect that the sudden death of Gilbert has had behind the scenes. Well done to everyone for recent performances with only the tricky away day at Livvy falling short. Come on the Sons!
  17. Alex was great really but I heard him say things to folk working at the club and to members of the public enquiring-which made me cringe.
  18. John was great if you had your dad with you!
  19. Aye and the pipe band for big matches, guys selling macaroon bars and spearmint and Sellick fans peeing into Beer cans and throwing them at the ref.
  20. Aye there are elements of truth in what you say and I have witnessed the shoddy way that some supporters have been treated. We're really in trouble though, if the public interface of the club under John Hosie and then Alex Wright is seen as preferable to now. Both guys were committed to DFC but, in neither case were people skills their forte. Both excelled at making people feel like an inconvenience. Having said that, I knew Alex very well and he was a great guy once you got to know him. I think it's probably a case of things at DFC haven't kept pace with people's (reasonable) expectations and that the ways of old just won't do any more. Merchandise shouldn't be too difficult to organise and should have decent margins if buying is done well.
  21. There is a downward trend to attendances and some of the reasons mentioned above are valid. However, in the specific case of Saturday, I'd guess a 3pm kick off, with no TV coverage would have resulted in at least a doubling, if not a trebling of the attendance we got. The only saving grace is that the missing folk in the home end were, in the main, season ticket holders so there wasn't a big loss of money from the home end. I hear that at some games there can be as few as 30 walk up punters in the home end. I don't know what the answer is to attract more young folk. I know there is quite a healthy youth support from Helensburgh/Cardross, which has always been the case. Good to see young guys like Fraser Clarke and Jack Crawford flying the flag and carrying on the tradition of Sons fans being smarter than the average Bear......or indeed Bhoy.
  22. Barr for me has been immense since his switch to link man and also to a midfielder. Routledge has a bit of dig and will run all day but in no way is he as important as Barr to the side. I think the criticism of Fleming has been a tad unfair. He has been an important player for us and he proved that yesterday as I watched the penalty through the gaps between my fingers. Our players attitude got us through yesterday. Their response to going 1-0 down and Docherty's sending off was magnificent.
  23. From the OS "SONS scheduled Ladbrokes Championship match against Hibs on 26th March may be moved as the Edinburgh club has made a request to the SPFL to cancel due to international call-ups. As soon as we have news of what the SPFL intend to do, we will publish via our social media channels."
  24. I thought that but wanted to check. That was my first outing to Bogheid without my faither. John Leino stole my scarf as I recall - made me plead for it back. Twelve I wiz!
