Just signed up for the Edinburgh half in May. Hear it's a flat course, so hopefully improve on my 1hr 51m in Glasgow in October. Having said that, I've barely done any exercise so it's a good incentive to get back out there.

Why doesn't someone do the usual and start a "Top 5 funny comedians" to stop clogging up this thread? I'd do it myself but I'm a shrinking wallflower who doesn't want to get lambasted for his favourite funny chaps (obviously not gals).

Okay. Off the top of my head, some of things I liked. Spoilers below. 1. WW's transformation from mild-mannered chemistry teacher to ruthless drugs baron is one of the best pieces of acting I've seen. The fact that you're never quite sure whether you're on his side or not is especially clever. 2. Some lovely camerawork, especially the shots out in the desert. 3. There were relatively few "twists" in the TV series (the Confession tape is the exception), i.e. you pretty much knew that everyone would find out in the end. However, like Day of the Jackal where you know de Gaulle doesn't get killed, it's still exciting to watch. 4. Loved the "flash forwards" at the start, where you watching something that happens in the future, but you're not quite sure what's going on or when you're going to see it again. 5. Some of the other characters are great... Gus for his cold-blooded ruthlessness (and his death scene), Saul was hilarious - so much so he's got a spin-off show, Mike was another fantastic one though I can't really put my finger on why. Fair enough if you don't like it, but "too much talking in it" seems an odd reason. Do you skip all the dialogue in every film / TV series you watch?

Maybe it's just me, but I really like the "one liner" guys like Milton Jones and Tim Vine. I find them very punny.

Stewart Lee is a p***k. Went to see a comedy show in London a couple of years ago in a wee student place. He was "headlining" and utter pish, thankfully Milton Jones was the warm-up act and was brilliant. Who's the black lassie off Mock the Week? She is utter gash.

I'm guessing Personal Worst but I could be wrong. Apparently I'm notoriously difficult to buy Xmas presents for, so at the merest mention to my family / friends that I don't mind the occasional run led to a deluge of t-shirts, shorts, gloves etc. Also got a thing for measuring your heartbeat while you run, but you need to tie it round your chest and it feels like I'm wearing a corset (so I'm told). Is this normal?

I joined the same day as C'mon_the_sons and sjm89 who are both still active. I'm sure your life is enriched with this vital information. Can't believe there are only around 1,000 members older than me. Mind you, I was into P+B before it became fashionable etc.
