I quite like Doris when he’s fit, he isn’t. I’m also not talking about 2 years ago and we are now in a division higher, football changes and we have played our best football this season without him. And when he has played, we have started to lump balls up to him and push more effective players wide such as McKenna and Wallace to accommodate him.

That’s part of the problem, when Doris plays we just end up limping the ball up to him and forget we are actually a class footballing team at this level, it’s like watching Scotland with Duncan Ferguson back in the day at the moment.

Wallace, we have played our best football with him up there. Doris looks miles away from being sharp, some fans need to stop looking at Doris in a romantic sense.

What a game to get back on track next week. There is no need to panic, the inevitable defeat has come, but it won’t be too damaging as long as we crack on starting next week. Id like to see us go back to the system and personnel that has produced our best football this season.

McKenna must start through the middle with Wallace further forward, Doris has looked miles off the pace and it was a mistake today including him.

Come on man, the Raith games don’t matter to us as much as they do to them, we could lose all of our remaining games against Raith and still be top comfortably, it’s not arrogant to suggest the wheels would have to come off dramatically for us not to win the league, yes that’s possible, but it looks unlikely at this stage, and of course that would mean Raith’s form would have to improve also.

I’ve been saying this to a pal recently at games, where Raith Rovers are just now, I don’t think they see the benefit as they are (no disrespect intended) one of the worst full time teams in the country, in theory probably have one of the worst squads of full time players. Arbroath in my opinion should always strive to be the best part time team in the county and if they are, that’s where I see our natural place in the pecking order, anything beyond that is exactly that, a bit beyond us. Comparing the two, I’d argue a squad of the best part time players are likely to be better than the worst full time ones, the only benefit being that they should be better drilled at set pieces, given they train more, I don’t think fitness comes into it much as we only really play once a week and part time players will be just as fit as full time ones.

I would say that I don’t remember the seaside of the ground being so boggy and wet when I was younger, it was even still wet when the supporters played on it after some brilliant weather that weekend.

Personally I think it depends on how the fixtures come out.
