I would say that judging by the fact that it is Ali Adams that he is far from blameless in this situation. An absolute banger who has been chased from every club he’s been at.

Obvious to anyone with half a brain cell. Unfortunately some fans would believe Ali Adams if he told them the moon was made of cheese.

Heard Stenny midfielder Jordan Kirkpatrick (him that scored the goal when Darvel beat Aberdeen FC) has moved to Tayside with his work and is hoping Arbroath FC makes a move for him (this comes from one of his best mates that i work with).

Hopefully an Arbroath FC employee reads this and passes this info onto JMc.

Kirkpatrick runs the Dundee branch of black rooster , Mick Kennedy’s chicken shop

What’s been happening at East Craigie?.  Not sure but I was expecting them to be a team challenging for the championship and they look as if they are a mid table finish.  Have they lost players or a manager ?

Basically all of the players who were involved in their great season a few years back have been pinched by other teams.

Just out of interest what is his day job? I heard it mentioned on a podcast that he properly earns more in part time than he would in full time. Similar to Roary McAllister

Works at Rosyth Dockyards. Can’t mind exactly what job. Welding gaffer rings a bell

  5. Went to watch North End Vs Lochee tonight, North End were as brilliant as Lochee were poor. Familiar story from when I’ve seen the Chee previously, no real game plan or cohesion. Long ball to Linn and Hay was bread and butter for North End centre halves. Goal of the match Frankie Devine’s incredible strike for the second.

I'm not really saying anything new, but that's a terrific signing. Calum Gallagher in League One is like Dwight Gayle was in the Championship down south a few seasons ago. Just a guaranteed goalscorer, who maybe isn't quite capable of taking that next step. So fair play getting him tied down early. That's as good a signing as any League One team will make all summer, and it's only April!

He's an absolutely fantastic team player. Will work himself into the ground, do the ugly side of the game. Run channels, hold play up. All that good stuff. It still pisses me off that we had fans berate him every week for us because he runs in a weird, ungainly way. Sure, he's not the most aesthetically pleasing forward in the world, but I'd kill to have him back at The Rock.

Genuinely lovely guy too with a really nice nature about him. As said above, he'll be one happily dishing out high-fives and selfies with the kids.

Since you’ve mentioned him - Dwight Gayle’s wife is from Forfar. Fun fact.

  7. Had typed a longer post out but forgot to post and it disappeared - to summarise, would be gutted to lose Mikey as I believe he’s someone with the best interests of the club at heart. He is EXACTLY the type of player/character who has brought us our recent success, and it would be fairly damning if he was to move on at this stage of his career (Even if this is largely due to not getting on with McIntyre, I have no doubt there are some other factors). Really wanting the season to end now so we can clarify players futures and start moving forward.

From what I’ve heard no new deals have been offered yet. Scott Stewart and a few others have been asked when they’re coming back for pre season by mcintyre which all but confirms he’s staying for next season. Scott has defo not been offered a new deal so chances are neither has anyone else.

    Any other exclusives?

I could believe this if I had any trust in his ability to sign decent players.

Boruc - not one aspect of his game is better than Gaston's and I'm not convinced he's any better than Adams.
Delaney - Has been fairly anonymous in the few games he has played, attacking and defensively.
Walker - Showed decent glimpses defensively, poor distribution
Teale - Could find half a dozen defenders as good or better in League 1/2, results in Ricky playing on left of back pairing which causes problems
Mackinnon - No idea what he offers our midfield.
Robinson - I've seen some shite Arbroath teams in my time - he wouldn't get a game for any of them. Playing him is disrespecting the SPFL.
Murray - Like Mackinnon, I can't work out what he offers us.
Reilly - Barely played but showed glimpses.

Even if he did have any success rate signing players, would we really have any confidence in him building a team out of them?
    I wouldn't.

Campbell's time was up and he (as well as the board) did us dirty but no one can convince me we wouldn't have had a better chance of staying up if he was still here.

Good part-time managers don't tend to stay part-time managers too long which results in a dearth of 'proven' candidates and it is a completely different task to full-time football so doesn't always translate. Airdrie are a good example, actually. Their squad is fairly modest for this level yet they are extremely well drilled and try to play with a clear style. As much as you can try, you can't implement that in 4 hours of training per week. At part-time level it is really about recruitment, personality and man-management. As stated above, McIntyre's recruitment has been poor. You can see from his interviews that his personality is hardly inspiring. As for man-management, we've had the Bird/Hylton and now the McKenna/McIntosh incidents along with the shabby treatment of Ali Adams.

When I think of the money wasted on full-time players over the last 2.5 years, with absolutely no on-field benefit, I wonder if we wouldn't have been better off trying to get some kind of youth system up and running again. Gold might not be the answer for first team manager but he'd have loads to offer if we did something like that.

I’ve been a pretty vocal opponent of a youth setup in the past, but Montrose seem to bring through players who can contribute so why can’t we. Could even have a few young lads from further afield in scotland, and house them up here instead of hopeless punts from down south.

  10. Really feels like we have gone from watching a team of players who would go to war for each other, to a team of absolute individuals in a pretty short period of time. Just irks me that so many of the squad involved in relegating us will leave and probably never ever give the club a second thought, relegation is probably a minor inconvenience at worst to them.

There was a lot of mud in the spectator areas on Wednesday night and a few did slip or fall on it, Its the first time I have realised how much work would need to be done there if they did get a licence and move up a level.

I almost slipped on my arse earlier in the season there. Wouldn’t take much effort to pave round to the enclosure surely

Those of us with longer memories will recount worse seasons than this. After Dick taking over we were 2nd bottom of LG2 and won the league season after. Similar situation with Dave Baikie, bottom to promotion. This was always likely to happen at some time as has been said before in posts. To be the only part time side is really tough and the injury situation was a major factor in how the season has gone. We are not down yet, but it seems likely to be soon, and we need to rebuild and be challengers for the Lg1 title next season from day one if we are relegated.

I'm sure he doesn't mean literally the worst league season (i.e. league placing), and instead just means that bar that 4/5 game run it's just been totally miserable and we've looked so far off it. Have experienced shit seasons before but probably not with as many pumpings as we've received this year, can definitely sympathise with what he means.

Are Carnoustie any closer to gaining their SFA licence? Blairgowrie were rumoured to apply for one too.

    Carnoustie are miles off.

The way I see it, he never let us down.  Did he even concede a goal when playing?  Plus compared to our previous second keepers in recent years, he at least didn't give me the fear when he took the field.  Did he do anything to show he wasn't good enough?

Plus its not just a case of letting a second keeper go, he became an international sensation and one of our few bright moments of a miserable season.  To milk all that attention as a club, and then just decide "nah" seems a bit off.

Even then, if we were having an okay season, it wouldnt be that big a deal, but given that he was basically the only proper good news story in 18 months, its a shame how its gone. If only he'd been renting a flat and funding the meadowbank flats!

No, he didn't, but there is evidently a reason he's been a junior keeper all his career?Better to be proactive, than reactive. The international sensation stuff is pointless too, was embarrassing he was having to play up front in the first place.
