  1. That’s odd. I’ve drunk Cusquena in Lima over many years/visits and never noticed it changing. Always excellent.
  2. Cool. £40 for ten litres of beer... a bit more than two quid a pint? Not bad. The kegs look great.
  3. How do those mini casks work? Is it like a wine box where you turn a tap at the bottom to dispense the beer?
  4. Had a horrific food experience tonight. Ordered a burrata pizza from a local place. Driving home, a strange, bad smell was coming out of the box. ‘Press on’, I thought, ‘it’s just your imagination.’ I got home and opened it. Like f**k was it my imagination. The pizza (burrata, bresaola, rocket and cherry tomatoes), with some dark brown drizzle over it) looked fine, but stunk. I took a bite. it was rotten. Truffle oil (I remembered now seeing this listed in the ingredients). TRUFFLE OIL. I’d blanked it on the menu because I didn’t know what it tasted like. Fucker. I know what you taste like now.
  5. “Organisers are also planning to steam live bible readings and other speeches during the celebrations, which commemorate protestant King William III's victory in 1960.“
  6. Absolutely.. Cittie of York is another cracker.
  7. A favorite drinking den, off Fleet Street.
  8. Burgundy Chardonnay that was on offer at the supermarket. It's going down a treat.
  9. Is that a legless Lionel Richie on the 2nd bottom shelf?
  10. very popular with burglars. They’ll be rummaging around your living room while the dog just yawns and goes back to sleep as everything (including itself) disappears into a sack.
  11. This would be cool. Cats might like it, too.
  12. The train driver’s view of the ride from Bergen to Oslo is a pretty chîlled out watch if you have seven hours to spare. No dialogue apart from the conductor saying « next stop, Kjallstropping » every 45 minutes or so.
  13. This is wild. Footballer awakes from a coma speaking fluent French. The nurse is French and asks his dad what part of France they’re from. Except of course they’re not French. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/52778714
  14. I went through my bookcase recently to decide which books I might ever read again. Everything else went to the book boxes around town, where people can basically help themselves. Seems much better than just hoarding books for the sake of it.
  15. As far as spy novels go, you can’t go wrong with John Le Carré.
  16. Ferdydurke, a novel by Witold Gombrowicz, one of my favourite writers (his Diary is superb). This was bold, comic, intense, profound. Guy was a maestro.
  17. £3.85?! FFS... €1.89 in my local supermarket.
  18. yep. Marvelous summer drink but easy to get carried away. A cracking hillwalking drink, btw. Kept me going on some brutal climbs.
  19. 27 degrees here. sat outside catching up with an old friend.
  20. The nasal whine of the Glasgow ned has to be down there with the worst of them.
