  1. That is an honest assumption on where we are and will be for the rest of the season. A four way dog fight between ourselves, Dumbarton, Clyde and East Fife for League One survival. We seem to go one step forward and two backward and the loss of 6 goals in our last two games shows that our defensive frailties have not been rectified.
  2. Peterhead fans go to games in hope rather than expectation - the bad weather forecast might give us a chance of at least getting a point.
  3. I thought we had stopped blaming referees for our poor form - I think giving away 5 penalties in 7 games cannot all be down to bad refereeing.
  4. Interestingly, we have conceded 5 penalties in 7 games and only kept one clean sheet!!!
  5. The manager and players talk a good game all week in the press, however, when Saturday comes round, everything goes out the window. Our tag of relegation favourites is well justified.
  6. I can't remember the last time we had a loan player from Aberdeen, we seem to prefer players from the Dundee teams!!
  7. Rock bottom and after watching them last week for the first time in ages, I'm not surprised. Very disjointed, full of individuals and a leaky defence. Plenty talk in the papers by the players on how good a team they are and will be up challenging. It's going to be a long season unless the right changes are made now!!!
  8. It's going to be a long season for us I'm afraid and I can't see us getting out of the bottom 3. The scoreline flattered us as we didn't come to life until the last 15 minutes and it could easily been 4 or 5 but for the heroics of Long. Only 4 games into the season and we are looking at next weeks game at East Fife as a crunch relegation match.
  9. 2nd Division looks ominous as there is no chance we will win a relegation play-off. Start afresh next season - new manager, new players, new ideas and build a team with experience and youth for more consistency, instead of a yo-yo team between the leagues.
  10. He's kept himself in good nick and a goal scorer never loses that instinct - you better hope he doesn't come back to haunt you today!
  11. Why not start with Derek Lyle up front as he is a proven goal scorer, even though he hasn't got the legs now - he might just snap up some of the chances we are making. With Cove v Dumbarton and Falkirk v Clyde today and results go our way, our aim must be not to lose and get dragged into the relegation dogfight.
  12. As long as he can play 2 consecutive games we'll be on a winner as all we seem to sign are crocks.
  13. Was he not injury prone before we got him - perhaps the Dumbarton lads can comment?
  14. Good to see Mcinally enthusing about a young player - just a pity he wasn't a local lad as there is plenty talent in the area. Any locals that we do rarely sign are loaned out to HL clubs and never heard of again.
  15. There's never any lack of wind at Balmoor - both on and off the park. I will await to hear the usual hard luck excuses which seem to have been prevalent over the past few seasons.
  16. We must be prime candidates for relegation before a ball is kicked unless suitable replacements are brought in. We have lost almost an entire defence, with only Jason Brown left and the loss of Leitch is a blow. Up front it is difficult to see where the goals will come from, although we have signed a forward Isaac Layne from Dumbarton - it's going to be a struggle!!
  17. Serious lack of goals in the team and we have 3 forwards on the bench - Lyle, Boyd and Cook?
  18. Just back from watching my grandson play on the astroturf pitches next to Balmoor - it's absolutely Baltic. There's a strong westerly wind which will be blowing right across the pitch into the East Stand - normal survival suits advised.
  19. This has been more or less Mcinally's system since he came to the club. Sign a promising local lad, get a bit of publicity in the local media and then put them on the bench and give them a few games. Thereafter they are usually loaned to HL clubs and disappear into the ether, never to return to Balmoor - this frees up space to sign a midfielder from the Central Belt.
  20. Totally agree, as the stadium is built on probably the highest location in Peterhead and brutally exposed to the SE winds which are prevalent. In saying that, we probably wouldn't be where we are just now as the Rec was dilapidated and had no facilities whatsoever. Perhaps the wisest people yesterday were the Peterhead Schools Football Association, who postponed their games on the adjacent astro-turf pitches on FRIDAY evening - take note SPFL.
  21. The bottom line is - was it an enjoyable game to watch or was it a farce? Obviously home fans will feel aggrieved as they had held out for half an hour and were looking forward to the gale at their backs second half. If it's of any consequence, I took the dog for a walk in the park and was literally treading water and had to turn back. The ref was in a no win situation and probably made the right decision if you asked the goalkeepers.
  22. I think the SFA should be instructing their referees all over Scotland to have a long think about overhead conditions before starting games tomorrow. It is blowing a gale just now and more of the same is forecast for this time tomorrow - surely common sense must prevail as it is no fun for players or spectators watching a team failing to get out of their own half or goal kicks being blown over the goalkeepers head.
  23. Harry and Ian Grant will be a big miss to the club - I heard they are trying to get someone else in. It will be an interesting end to the season and unless the manager can stop signing midfield players and bring in a decent centre half and goal scorer - we look destined to return to Division 2.
  24. I find it strange that it is the same week as Rory goes - more to this than meets the eye?
