Rangers v Livingston: 3rd Feb @ 3pm
PauloPerth replied to AJF's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
That first goal being allowed is a disgrace! Fair enough the ref maybe didn’t catch it through the crowd in real time, but a paid ‘qualified’ official has looked at several replays of Goldson’s flying kick into the Livi defenders and thought “that’s fine”. Genuinely should have to come out and explain that one, otherwise what’s the point?! -
VAR in Scottish Football

Uncanny, I’ve just come on to say exactly that. Watching it on sportscene just now as Goldson karate kicks his way into the Livingston defenders, stopping them from going for the ball. I didn’t complain too much at our one against Aberdeen as I just felt it’s a really poor decision but that’s the way it goes, but after seeing that yesterday, I’m raging!! Both are shocking decisions, and any official that can look at the rangers one over several replays and not give a foul should be sacked. About 1:00 on in this one: About 3:32 onwards for yesterday’s: -
“He didn’t just stand out, he was outstanding.” Jermaine Jenas on Ross Barkley.

The A9 Derby, Stags vs Saints
PauloPerth replied to Pete the Jakey's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
MASSIVE 3 points. Felt we sat in a bit much in the second half but overall we defended well and restricted County to very few chances. Thought Carey was good today, and Connor Smith played well. Sidibeh is quick, wins headers and was a willing runner. He was up to the physical battle as well and is keen to turn his man and attack. A positive debut. Great to see Benji get off the mark. No failures overall though. -

Brilliant by Kimpioka. Double step over and a cool finish into the corner, hopefully he kicks on from here. We’re playing a bit of football when we can, and the passing has been way better than what we’ve seen recently. Still struggle to get quality passes to our striker, but his pace can create a bit of panic amongst defenders. Just wait until we bring on our really fast striker.. Saints tv commentary far better this week, keeping it simple and much easier to listen to. -

I wondered about McGowan in centre mid as well but unless it’s a back four with Considine and Robinson at centre backs then I can’t see it. Levein has always wanted to be a manager who throws youth in, and the fact the midfield three has Max as the most experienced player seems bonkers. It’s one of them where everyone thinks it has the potential to be a disaster, but you’re hailed as a genius if it comes off. A complete overrunning in the centre of the park does look a strong possibility though.. -

He really doesn’t. After Max’s last appearance it’s pretty harsh for Sven to get left out. Just reading what the Warrington manager has been saying about Sidibeh.. it’s fairly obvious he’s going to destroy this league isn’t it?!! Can’t wait to see him play. -

Aye that sounds rough, hope you make a full recovery min. There’s bound to be some cheap comment available about a Saints fan suffering an eye bleeding injury… but I hope no one sinks that low. -

That is abysmal. Out of those left, is every single one of them out of contract in the summer? -
Aberdeen's Next Permanent Manager 23/24 Edition
PauloPerth replied to Ludo*1's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
Of Cormack’s appointments, Glass was the only really bad one. I think most saw that the appointment was a sentimental, trying to be too clever type move. Goodwin had done okay at a team in the same division, improving their cup form and moving them from perennial relegation strugglers to the fringes of top six, so with a bigger budget it wasn’t infeasible that he’d do okay at Aberdeen. Robson took over a very mediocre team and went on an incredible run to third and European football. The turnaround was phenomenal. If the board had then given it to someone else who underachieved they would be getting pelters for not appointing Robson. There was nothing about last season to suggest Robson would bomb so badly when given the job permanently. Yes, neither appointment didn’t work out and ultimately deserved to be punted, but no one’s got a crystal ball, and you can only make the decisions based on the facts at your disposal at the time. Its easy to assess the decisions based on how they turned out, but at the time of both Goodwin and Robson’s appointments, they were understandable. -

Buglione had over 80 goals in a season for Margate (?) I’m sure. It did make many wonder at the time what with so many clubs nearby having a jolly boys down to Margate, if he was any good, why hadn’t anyone else picked him up?! But I agree with Tam that Adama is going to tear it up. -

A classic. This was around the same time as the phrase ‘f**k her right in the pussy’ was regularly shouted during live broadcasts. Back when humour was innocent, spontaneous and fun. We’ve lost a lot from our society over the years. -

Absolutely nailed it Tam. I would bin Saints in a heartbeat if we paired up with those squeaky p***ks. We should pick a good traditional club with a bit of class, like Newcastle for example. -
Billionaire to Invest in Hibs

What’s that you say? Spend lots of money on players is it? Become the third force in Scottish football you say? Go on to challenge the Old Firm? Well hell, that sounds incredible skippy, never heard of such a plan in Scottish football before…- 102 replies

Your reverse psychology won’t work on us Girth. We watch this pish every week. We know what we’re (not)capable of. -

Exactly. He was dreadful for us every time he played, and he got plenty of opportunities. Compare to Morgan, Vertainen, Jephcott etc in terms of matches played for similar impact on the park. Seemed like a decent lad and has done better at Motherwell, so good luck to him. But we were right not to persevere with him as a forward option this season. It was the failure to bring in anything better that was the issue, not the moving him on. -

I think we probably do look more organised defensively than we have been in recent times, and our improved league position is a big plus; on the back of the horror show at airdrie, not losing either of the next two shows a bit of character I guess. But there are still big concerns.. It’s now 6 matches without a win including airdrie. We don’t create many chances and don’t score many goals. We struggle to win matches because of this, and will therefore struggle to pull far from the bottom two places. While Keltjens looks okay, there are no indications at all that any of our January signings so far are going to greatly improve us. Early days obviously, and hopefully they all do go on to make a positive impact. We constantly tried to play out from the back at Airdrie through the centre backs taking 5 yard passes from Mitov, but we’ve not seen it since. On the one hand, it’s good we’re not stubbornly sticking to a tactic that isn’t working as Callum did, but on the other, if this is what we’ve been working on over the three week break and we’ve ripped it up already, do we have any tactics or system to build play when we’re in possession? Because for 5 of the 6 halves we’ve played so far, we’ve looked completely disjointed and like we have no plan. -

Livingston v Ross County on Tuesday night before our match next Saturday in Dingwall. A draw probably the best result for us there.
