  1. A couple of girls I know have just moved out to Spain, and have decided to start using the acronym SVUV, which apparently stands for 'solo vives una vez'. I'll let you work out what that means in English.

    Dexter

I absolutely cannot wait for this, it's probably the best show out there. I've avoided the trailer thankfully so hopefully I won't have anything spoiled!
  3. My upstairs neighbour is playing music very loudly and it's not far off midnight. This morning, and yesterday morning I was woken up by him playing music really loudly too. Arsehole.
  4. Yep think this is the best way about it. I just told them that I was planning on being out and about a lot over the next few days (which is actually true anyway) so it wouldn't be ideal for either of us if they were here. Hopefully they don't think that's unfair!
  5. I know that would work, I just don't want to come across as a total dick . The problem is that the flat is definitely big enough for them to live in, they were just insanely messy and kept me late for everything since I only have 1 set of keys.
  6. How do I tell a couple of friends that I don't want them to stay at my flat? They're both women, I let them in for one day already and fortunately they found somewhere else to stay before I killed them, but I've just got a text asking if they can come back until the weekend or early next week.
  7. For the first time ever tonight I gave money to a busker. I went for a walk and ended up watching him for an hour on the busiest shopping street in the city. He mainly played Bob Marley with a few other bits and pieces thrown in too, it was excellent.
  8. Sorry, didn't see this post... I talk to various people back home and abroad! This includes my girlfriend, all sorts of family, and various friends all over Europe (quite a few of us are doing a year abroad at the minute so it's handy for catching up). I know what you mean though, back home I can easily go days without speaking to some of these people.
  9. Another one from me... Can anyone think of any good reason as to why my laptop vibrates (fairly strongly!) when the charger is plugged in? Sounds strange, but the entire thing shakes!
  10. Sorted - that's HQ video too it seems, and the distance I am away from those I'm calling cuts the quality considerably. Just found another bit on the website that says 300kbps for standard video calling which is great! Cheers!
  11. Basic old style phone with standard pay as you go sim card!
  12. Orientation week for international students starts today, first meeting is at 3.30pm. I look forward to trying to find the building in what looks like on a map at least, the most clusterfucktastic uni campus in the world!
  13. Anyone got any answer to this? I might have to decide this afternoon. wunfellaff's suggestion doesn't work cause I don't have a phone with internet out here. I can also cut out the film streaming entirely by the way, if it means my Skype time can be kept as it is.
  14. Disappointed that the first person I know in this thread (guy on the right) shows up in a fairly normal picture.
  15. Is that the McGill's X23? It's a crackin' service, I get it from Union Street when I'm going to Braehead and it only takes about 15 mins at most, and it's fairly regular as well.
  16. I can't be annoyed with the hassle of getting proper broadband installed in my new flat, so I've been looking at mobile broadband. I've used it before in the UK and it's been decent enough, so I found an alright deal with one of the Italian mobile companies. They're calling it unlimited but it's not really since once you go over 10gb of allowance they cut your speed to 32kpbs ( ) so I'm curious as to how likely I would be to go over that amount. I use Skype for maybe an average of 45 mins to an hour every day, stream the occasional film (maybe one or two a week) but I don't really download a lot else. The rest is just web browsing. Am I way off here and should I be looking elsewhere?
  17. It's 25 degrees here and 100% humidity, after 10 o'clock at night. Nae sleep for me!
  18. At the minute I'm probably the least fit I've been in about 5 years. I'm not overweight, I weigh about twelve and a half stone and I'm six foot two but I feel pretty sluggish. Over the past year or so my diet has gone right downhill, I eat from too many bad carbohydrates and up until about a month ago wasn't exercising enough either. I've started going swimming at least a couple of times a week but ideally just as much as possible, I don't know if that's the best option but I find it infinitely more enjoyable than going to the gym. Anyway, come Tuesday I'm going to have to start shopping for myself too (I realise that's my own fault for being lazy and I always had the option to buy and cook for myself) so this seems like as good a time as any to change the things I eat and lean up my currently doughy physique. I quite fancy this quinoa stuff, what do you eat it with?
  19. Nope, and I'm not daft enough to buy from somebody without any feedback. It was a box set of books.
  20. Bought something 2 days ago on eBay and paid an extra fiver for 24 hour delivery, as opposed to waiting for the seller's standard delivery which was an estimated 4-6 days I knew I needed it before then. I still haven't received any sort of confirmation of the item being shipped. Is there anything I can do to claim the shipping cost back if it turns out to be way off what I paid for?
  21. I would argue that the terrible taste is a downside.
  22. You missed the point. She complains is preset tense, meaning I still use gift bags anyway.
  23. That's a risk. My girlfriend complains if I don't at least try to wrap presents up, despite the fact that I'm so bad at it I can make a DVD look like a teddy bear.
  24. Not really, I definitely can't afford to just be throwing money away and I buy most things I need except food online. You just need to make sure that you're buying from a reputable source, which isn't exactly difficult. It literally takes a few seconds to do a Google search for reviews of retailer you've never heard of.
