  1. Let’s all calm doon, we didn’t lose the game, it’s only the first league game with Simon Murray coming back in a couple weeks. Yes the performance was underwhelming but the way some have reacted you’d think we’ve been battered 5-0. Full time status and big wages will understandably increase expectations but let’s see where we are after the first 4-5 games

Just having a laugh. I’m not one to follow the crowd and be in love with a group of staff and players who don’t really care. Hopefully things pick up but I worry for the future of the club. That’s being a fan 👍😁

Staff and players who don’t care ? Where’s this assumption plucked from ? Nonsense comment

  3. That was extremely disappointing, although we looked slightly more threatening the last 10 minutes we looked nothing other and ordinary. Defensively we looked fine but the lack of attacking threat is concerning, 4 games in a row I’ve watched and yet to see us score. With guys like McHugh, Maclean and longridge in the starting 11 surely creating chances shouldn’t be a concern? Hopefully fortunes change next week against Albion rovers. Pretty sure the trialist was Jai Quitongo ?

Does anyone have an opinion on Grant wearing the captains arm band? I’ve not read every post.

I’m absolutely gutted to see David Galt on the pitch and Grant wearing it. He’s hardly been in the door to be a captain of the club when Galty is Mr QP. Yer a fool if you think Grant cares about the club like Galt. The arm band should mean a lot and be chosen wisely. Looks like it’s went to the gaffers favourite?

Can anyone shed light, is Galt the Club Captain at least?

I may be cynical here but it appears to be symbolic of the clubs position right now. Tradition and loyalty out the window on this occasion?

Yeah noticed that aswell from the Morton game. As much as I’d love to see Galt captain, I’d like to think McKinnon would of spoke to both Galt and Grant to discuss the captaincy and what the appropriate solution would be.

I know Grant only joined in January but he really does come across as captain material in my opinion

  5. Extremely disappointing 2nd half, was really encouraged especially the first 30 minutes with tidy passing but slowly we let Morton back in the game and by the 2nd half the intensity levels dropped big time. Obviously still aware that these games act as a means to gain match fitness but undeniably the lack of creativity through the middle of the park was still evident and ultimately the strikers were working off scraps. Longridge and Gillespie probably the more impressive performers. Here’s hoping by Saturday, we’re on it for 90 minutes, that’s when real stuff starts

  6. Noticed In the match preview, it mentions that Murray and Slater are not available for a number of weeks. Expected that from Murray as he’s still recovering from a long term injury but disappointing to hear about Slater being injured again, looked class in his limited appearances so far. Here’s hoping another attacking midfielder can be signed

Really disappointing second half today after an encouraging first half.

The fact we only managed the 3 pre season games played a part and Thistle obviously had played a league cup game already. We looked very tired in the second half and barely completed a pass. The second goal was dreadful to concede after a great finish for the first.

Early days of course but we still look short of numbers in midfield especially if Craig Slater is going to be injured on a regular basis.

The stream quality was excellent so well done to Thistle for that.

Agreed, the way ended we the 1st half I thought we’d kick on and give it a go but it seemed fitness levels took its toll.  We looked organised overall but there was a clear lack of creativity or imagination to get any chance on goal. An attacking midfielder definitely a position needing strengthened with no back up to Slater who seems to be unfortunately fairly injury prone( or maybe he was suspended, anyone know if it only applies to the league?) Lets not forget this has no bearing on the league, I thought the team looked terrific last year in the betfred and that Jack Purdue was gonna tear the league apart and he ended up finishing the season with east Stirling

We announced the signing of Lewis Magee tonight. How did he play for you last season? I remember him playing well in the opening league game, but can’t say I noticed him other than that.

Good signing I’d say, really started to develop and mature as a player at the start of last season and was a big factor to our promising early season form but he’s been very unfortunate with injuries throughout his time and ended up a with a bad injury which ruled him out for most of the season. Hope it works out for him, there’s a player there

Enjoyed being able to see QP in action again even if it was a) a friendly b) on a stream and c) from a ground which will always be tied to season 2013-2014

The quality of the stream was great so well done to the folks at Airdrie

In terms of the team I thought we looked pretty solid. Gillespie and Lyon looked good on the ball but don’t maybe offer the same creativity as Craig Slater. I notice that he, Lee Kilday and Cammy Bell haven’t been involved in the last couple of games so presumably carrying injuries?

Was the “trialist” striker Will Baynham?

Hope it was Baynham, certainly looked a handful and was unlucky with his header that hit the bar

  10. Watched the game aswell, thought Gillespie was really impressive as was Robson at left back particularly in the 2nd half. Big trialist striker also looked impressive when he came on. As been mentioned already, absolute howler for the goal, think it may have been from Morrison ? However, we competed well and matched Airdrie for the entirety of the game I’d say

  11. Wouldn’t mind seeing Jake Davidson back on loan again. Thought he made a big difference to the midfield last season with his energy and physicality, plus he can cover at full back, an area where there isn’t much cover outside Doyle and Robson. Don’t think he’s made the dundee United bench this season either

  12. It said a lot about Anderson’s ability that he won 3rd division player of the year In 2012/2013 when up against the likes of Lee Mculloch and a prime Rory McAllister for the award. You do wonder even when he was really young how an academy never took him on board. Phenomenal player and comfortably the best player I’ve seen at this level

We've taken Calvin McGrory and Jack Purdue on trial

Mcgrory should be a good addition if you end up signing him. Central midfielder, good technically and has bundles of energy. Was really unfortunate with injuries last season which prevented him from nailing a place in the eleven week in week out and once McKinnon came in and brought in the likes of craig Slater, he was resigned to the bench. Definitely a player in there and wouldn’t of been adverse to keeping him for the upcoming season

Purdue is an interesting one, in terms of talent alone he’s right up there and his early performances, particularly in the betfred cup where he produced some excellent performances against the likes of thistle and airdrie suggested that we may of signed a gem. However like most young attacker in these leagues, inconsistently proved to be a downfall and ultimately he dropped to the bench. Before the lockdown, he had just been put out on loan to east stirling. If a manager can get a tune out of him, he is absolutely worth taking a punt on as he really does have ability in abundance

Inconsistency. Has plenty ability and on his day is a very good footballer. His days don't happen often enough. He should be far too good for league 2, if he can be bothered. I'd have kept him over Telfer and Sammon. On the latter how are you guys fixed for strikers? Sir Bob apart

Going by the rumours, sounds like we’re bringing in Simon murray for the striker position also. Outrageous signing at league 2 level. Glad it’s not sammon 😂
