Without wanting to appear like a circling vulture, I see that Stuart Morrison and Paul Paton are among seventeen players not having their contracts renewed by Dunfermline....

Was really impressed with Morrison when he moved into his natural position at centre back. Strong, quick, reliable and seemed to form a great partnership with Grant before the season finished. Would like to think we’d be in a strong position to sign him if we want him back permanently

Also looking at that list, Andy Ryan has also been released. Tore us apart when he was with Airdrie a few years back and would have him in a heartbeat

Despite the awful circumstances of this pandemic, we might ultimately benefit from this In terms of recruiting quality players

I hope all Spiders fans on this forum are keeping well, coping with lockdown and not otherwise too badly affected by the current situation.
The Hampden question was something that was going through my mind too. Hopefully some common sense and decency will prevail and some arrangement can be made so we can have at least one final send off there. I'd like to think that the Committee had been giving this some thought prior to the virus putting everything on hold.

For anyone who hasn't seen them yet, check out the YouTube channel for the interviews with Galt and Ray. Between that, the reruns of some classic highlights, and messages from former players on Facebook, Sean and the rest of the media team are doing a great job to keep giving us QP some content to enjoy
By now we should have had the Player of the Year awards. Who would folk have voted for as their player and young player? And does anyone have the result to date from the votes taken on the away buses.
Difficult choice for me, but think I've narrowed it down to Salim or Galt (with Jamieson and Muir in the running also) though some of the January signing such as McLean and Grant also impressed. Young player for me would probably be McGrory.

Would give poty to Salim overall, without him in the team, we’d have been down at the bottom with Brechin no doubt about it. However, I do think jamieson has been a fantastic signing, really think he could comfortably move up a couple a divisions and thrive. Really hope both players are here for next season

Salim for me, all day long. A striker who scores goals isn't a particularly common thing for us. His all round game has come on leaps and bounds as well.

He's scored goals in what would probably be termed our 'big' wins this season, home and away to Edinburgh, and Queen of the South in the cup. The goals against the former were cracking. Also a couple of last minute equalisers at home to Stenny and Rovers as well.

I'd be looking to bring in another quality striker next season because you need depth of quality to challenge for titles, but he'd be in my plans for next season if I were Ray McKinnon.

Looking on the Alloa thread, there’s a couple mentions that we’re potentially trying to bring Trouten back. Would certainly be a more than ideal partner for Salim next season

Some of the headers he’s scored have been fantastic. Long time since we’ve had a goalscorer that wasn’t a loan

Just watched the highlights where is this boy from looks decent?

Signed from Kilsyth Rangers last summer. Considering for large parts of the season he’s been been starved of quality service, his goal tally is fantastic. With our status now, we’re hopefully in a strong position to keep him for next season as i have no doubt teams will be sniffing around for his signature

Muir, Jamieson, Galt, Koudier-Aissa for sure. I think McGrory and Magee have shown enough potential for a contract as well and been unfortunate with injuries. I've probably forgotten others, but that's off the top of my head.

Would agree with all of that, maybe add Joffrey aswell. Will be interesting to see what happens with Muir, would obviously love him to stay number 1 keeper next season but surely we haven’t signed Bell to be a sub

  6. Would say Muir is the best keeper I’ve seen. As good as Crawford was in his prime, Muir on many occasions single handedly kept us in matches or won us matches. Genuinely don’t think we get promotion in 15/16 without him. Made a ridiculous point blank save during the 2nd leg away at Cowdenbeath and made another wonder save against Clyde in the final

  7. Fairly new to FM and decided to give it a bash to occupy myself for the time being.   Really enjoying it currently, just about to begin my 3rd season with Queen’s Park after narrowly missing out on successive promotions. Got absolutely trounced by Inverness in the play off final, 7-1 on aggregate. Club changed to full time status for the 3rd season so it’s gonna be a big push for the Spl over the next couple years. Alfredo Agyeman and Craig Slater are absolutely bossing it for me with Agyeman scoring 32 goals for me last season, whilst Slater won league 2 player of the year and then followed it up with League 1 player of the year.
Gets proper addictive to play once you get into it

  8. Can’t believe there are people already questioning McKinnon. To not count the opening 2 games aswell is daft, i honestly don’t think we’d have won either the Stenny or Edinburgh game with Roberts in charge. Isn’t it a testament to Mckinnon’s managerial capabilities that he was able to use the same players that have failed so often this season to go to Edinburgh, who were undefeated at home at the time and tactically out play them ? Our record against the better teams in the league under Roberts this season and last season was appalling so McKinnon has to be applauded

Yes it’s obviously not ideal when you draw against Brechin and Stenny but a bit of perspective is needed. You can’t go from utter garbage to absolutely outstanding within a matter of weeks. We’re at the infancy stage of a new era for the club and quite frankly the initial progress made on and off the pitch has been terrific

Some people need to lighten up

  9. Massive game and a big opportunity to put serious pressure on Cowdenbeath since they’re up against Cove. Think Cowden are the team to catch in regards to getting a play off position

Keep assuming we’ll get a win against Rovers but in all honesty we’ve been dire against them this season so it’ll be a battle to get the win. Think we really need to go for it so I would have Joffrey in for King and go with 2 up top with Moore coming in for the suspended Slater. Would continue with Morrison at the back also as he’s been outstanding since being played in his natural position. Says a lot when Jamieson can’t get in the team currently

  10. We don’t necessarily need two up front, we need runners from midfield that are willing to get in behind the opposition from Salim’s knock ons. Purdue’s goal against Edinburgh earlier in the season is a prime example of how effective it can be.

  11. 2 points dropped for me. We didn’t really create a barrowload of chances but I felt we really should of got a goal in the first half. Had a feeling it was gonna end a draw after failing to capitalise on the early dominance. We’re solid as a rock nowadays but need to be more composed in the final third

Not too convinced by Finnie tbh, you can tell teams are targeting his side and today was the exact same with the Stenny winger getting a bit of joy and space to create chances, thankfully they were awful aswell.

Another shout out to willie Muir, couple of outstanding saves in quick succession. Best keeper in the league and will be gutted if he’s not the keeper next season.

Referee was dire I thought, constantly making the game about himself. Can’t comment on Slater’s red card but he wasn’t complaining too much when walking off, so may have said something pretty bad

  12. A game where If we really want to get into the top 4, this is the type of game where we need to pick up maximum points. Would say that Stenny have been the worst team I’ve seen this season but they’re much changed since our last encounter and you’ve always got to be wary of the likes of Spence and Mcguigan up top.

Would be Incredibly harsh not to keep Morrison at centre half but I’m not sure you should be keeping a player of Jamieson’s quality on the bench. Will be happy If either of them play as they both seem to have a great understanding with Grant who has really added that Mcgeever type leadership we’ve lacked since he left. With the likes of Slater and Maclean back playing, I’m confident we’ll get a result

That's not the first game that I've noticed Sal winning headers while defending corners. Really hope we can hang on to him for as long as possible.

For someone who doesn't look especially tall Sal wins an incredible number of headers at both ends. Pity that we've not yet managed to work out how to capitalise on his flick ons.

Only 3 off Longworth’s best scoring tally for us which is a terrific achievement considering for large parts of the season he’s been starved of service. Genuinely not seen a better player at heading the ball the way Salim does, some of the goals he’s scored with his head have been terrific. Still think he needs to improve his ability on the ball but if he keeps putting the ball in the net I’ll not be complaining

  14. Comfortable win against a dreadful Annan side who look a shadow of the team they were last season. First half we created good chances and passed the ball really well, no surprise to see the team looking a bit more disjointed in the 2nd half when the impressive Slater was subbed. Really hoping it was only precautionary and not another injury, same applies to Maclean who was also excellent. Morrison looked a lot more comfortable at centre half than he did in midfield and made a terrific tackle in the first half. 2nd half a bit of a non event but great to get back to winning ways and into 3rd place for now.

Right after speaking to friends and watching highlights. Why did we leave it so late to change things up. Joff on in 87 minutes come on. Why put young McGuire on the bench and not use him. To me Slater and King don't know how to fight at this level.  Happy for Muir he does not deserve to be dropped. All the "fans" saying give Muir a longer contract then as soon as he makes one mistake drop him for Bell. Who has not played a competitive game since October.  We pumped Brechin 5_2 at Hampden and it could have been a lot more.  Joffrey played really well on Saturday but dumped last night. Ray saying he had to play young Doig. Why? It's a squad game. Boys in the bench not even getting a look in. Dissapointed with managers decisions last night. Could be the difference.

Slater has literally played about a game and a half in total in which he was the best player in the park for 30 minutes against Cowdenbeath. To say Slater can’t fight at this level is baffling, especially when you weren’t even at the game last night. McKinnon has literally lost 1 game in the league, bit of calm needed from people

  16. Big game against a team we tend to really struggle against. Often been unable to cope with Annan’s physicality but I’d like to think we’re more than ready for that with the squad we’ve got now. If Jamieson and Maclean are back in the starting 11, I think we’ve got every chance of picking up maximum points.
Are we able to sign anyone on loan still or have we used them all up ? Feel like the only position I’d consider getting still is a striker to challenge Salim if it’s not going for him

That's very true. But at all of the meetings held by the club over the ground sale, the vote to amend the Articles and everything that surrounded both those events the question of supporting youth development was repeatedly highlighted as being very important to the members and fans. There was then an implied threat from the club that if we stayed amateur, and the inevitable drop to the Lowland occurred, the youth set-up couldn't possibly be maintained. A fait accompli. Professionalism woul be a key driver in retaining the highly acclaimed youth development structure. It's not hard to see how some might be questioning that commitment already.

It was even mentioned that it was an "ambition" for QP to offer parents a viable alternative to Celtic or Rangers for their little starlets. And regularly mentioned that one of the big draws to coming to QP was that "we give youngsters the early chance of first team football". Seems a bit hollow after punting Gibby and Billy. Who by the way could have put in a better shift than young Davidson yesterday.

Aye Brilliant, let’s just play players cause they come from our system and give 110% even if they’re playing rubbish. Mortimer and Gibson are not of the required standard even before McKinnon joined us. Gibson’s injuries have clearly affected his game and wasn’t the same and Mortimer is never gonna lead you to a promotion push. For what it’s worth, Davidson has been smashing in midfield since he’s joined. Can’t comment on his performance yesterday since I wasn’t there but feel like your picking at straws with that kinda statement

My only concern going forward is that wee lose our tradition as a club of giving our own a chance. With turning pro which I was all for we have brought lots of players in and others lined up for next season depending what league we are in. We have very few youngsters who look like they will get a chance with new management. We have very few youngsters left in our squad and will they even be given a chance next year. The like of Grant, Main, McGrory, Magee and McGuire. Will any of these young lads even be offered a deal next year. Is this just what we will do now but all clubs like to see one of their own making progress.

If they are good enough, they will play in the first team, simple as that. We are not a youth team. If another Andy Robertson or Shankland appears from the system, most likely they will be involved.

  19. Any type of result yesterday would of been a bonus. Cove’s home record is ridiculous so it was always gonna be a tough ask. Hopefully with the extra experience brought in, we’re able to respond to defeats a lot better and get back to winning ways immediately. Huge game on Wednesday against a side that will be doing their upmost to get any type of result so we’ve got to be up for it. Really hope Maclean is available again, anyone know what injury he’s got ?
