  1. Glad to be in the hat for the next round, just want a winnable tie. Can tell Roberts isn’t able to trust Grant or Mortimer at full back just now, might see Block play at right back for the foreseeable future.
Great to see Alfie score and get off the mark, he’s raw but I think there is a load of potential to work with. Winger is definitely his strongest position.
Obviously Elgin will be a much tougher fixture next week, however I’d be keen to keep that line up and give it a good go

  2. Whatever we do, we must go back to a back four. It really is unnecessary to have 5 at the back at this level and it’s doing us no favours in terms of getting goals.

                                           Muir

    mortimer      Jamieson      Little   Summers

                             Block              Joffrey

    purdue                   Thomson             Galt

                                           Salim

Then we have guys like Agyeman and Moore to bring on who both have a greater impact coming on as subs right now

Choice of fullbacks will be interesting tomorrow. Will it be the attack minded pair or the defence minded pair or a pick n mix. I wondered if Roberts went last week at home with the latter pair to minimise the risk of getting picked off on the counter in the big wide pitch.

Thats a point that just came to me. I don't think we get any benefit from the current pitch dimensions so could we bring the touchlines in ?

Got to get Billy Mortimer back in the team. Unsure as to why he was dropped last week, he’s had a great start to the season

Not the greatest performance but that equaliser made up for it.

I think we are doing far better than I ever expected so far this season.

That bonehead of a security boss is really starting to wind me up. I asked him while being searched if they did this at the main entrance as well. His response was, we don't need to because they are members. So they don't search women or posh people. I though we were showing racism a red card these days?

There isn’t even a consistency to whether you get searched or not. Some weeks you can just walk by them and other weeks (like yesterday) every person got searched. Bit odd

  5. Salim has got to start every game, he’s comfortably our best striker, he wins everything in the air and he can score goals. Same applies to Thomson, he made such a difference when he came on, constantly wanting the ball and hit some great passes. Got to make the most of Thomson’s talent cause he’s gonna be here one season let’s be honest

Overall, it was a dire game and we seriously need to improve on that performance because I’d say most teams in this league would of comfortably of won today had they played us.

  6. Agreed, would like to see Clark play instead of Summers but I’d love to see Thompson play from start playing just behind Salim. He’s looked brilliant in his recent sub appearances and for a 16 year old, his tackling is excellent.

Feeling confident but always feel uneasy when a load of former players play against us, particular for the rovers as they always seem to score. Gemmell, Fotheringham and particularly Chris Hamilton spring to mind in recent times. Going for 3-1 QP

  7. I’d like to see Thompson and Clark in the team for the next game. Clark was fantastic in the cup and was unfortunate to lose his place because he was injured for the first league game.

Would be tempted to maybe look in the loan market for a striker, we need to be more ruthless in front of goal

Think we need any further additions to the squad ?

  8. Would of been gutted had we lost that game, thought we played some really nice stuff but our decision making was poor. Silly goal to lose but it’s encouraging that we’ve limited Stirling and Stenny to very few chances over the first couple of games. Delighted to see Salim get another goal under his belt, he’s a pest up top and I’d imagine he’ll score quite a few over the season. Man of the match was once again Nicky Jamieson, strolled it at the back and his distribution and aggression is something we’ve lacked so much in recent years. Thought Joffrey, Mortimer and Galt all had really good games also

Totally disagree. Once QP scored they seemed to start some sort of routine to break up the game. All three at the back rushed forward together, in my opinion, to influence the ref to send of the player off quickly to “calm” the situation. The play acting kicked in at that stage. No way was the player who was tackled by McGeachie injured at all and did the whole fake limp thing that Maradona loved to do way back. He was battering-ramming everything within a minute or so again. Hmmmmm.
The booking Banner got was a joke, never touched the boy and when you watch the “injury” to the goalie on the video it only confirms that this was some sort of tactic to slow the game down. I have no memories of this sort of thing happening before QP scores.

Someone tried the mass rushing the ref to influence a sending off before at Forthbank. I’m beginning to think it was Queen’s Park. Did we beat you 2-1 with a late goal with 10 men at 1-1 back in January/February?

Mind you, QP deserved the points. Stirling were pretty rotten going forward. I spent Saturday night with the fear of finishing bottom. Wasn’t a good night. Let’s see if Darryl Duffy can organise us up front.

“Did the whole fake limp”. Yet he missed out midweek because of the tackle and is a doubt for tomorrow. Idiot

  10. Does David Crawford still exist ? The game was a lot better than I thought it was going to be, with lots of chances for both teams. Thought Martin and Main were the best players, particularly Main. He’s got a terrific engine and loves a tackle, more than capable of getting into the starting XI. Regan was promising and came more into the game throughout the 2nd half, you can tell he’s quality for someone of his age, alongside the keeper who was also very impressive. Overall, good to see our fringe players are capable of stepping in which I have no doubts they will throughout the season

I agree. Alfie is very similar to Smart for me. When you first see him you think wow! but the more you see him you get frustrated as you think he should be doing more than he does.

He needs to deliver more and is behind Jack, Salim and Kieranfor me.

Don’t really see the comparison with Smart. Smart never really had much skill on the ball, it was more his hard work that made him effective. There was never a moment I thought “wow”

I can understand people having Salim and Purdue ahead but not Moore. I like Moore but he’s not done enough yet when given the opportunity when he’s started in the cup so far. Alfie has genuine quality on the ball and has a load of potential based on what I’ve seen. Salim and Alfie is my preferred frontline

  12. Terrific to start to the season with 3 points and a clean sheet away from home. The difference from last season is how much more solid we are at the back. Too often last season we’d play some nice stuff and fail to score and on the opposition’s first attack into the box, we’d crumble. Jamieson, other than one misplaced header for a corner was outstanding yet again, however man of the match was comfortably Lidouren. He’s got everything you’d want in a box to box midfielder: pace, energy, defensively sound and he’s terrific with the ball at his feet. He’s been the best player on the pitch in his first two games.

Id be inclined to start Alfie next week against Stenny for the expense of Purdue. Although Purdue was outstanding in the Betfred cup, he really didnt have the desired effect yesterday and the likes of Galt and Salim really thrived when Alfie was introduced. Overall, a really positive start and once Gibson, Clark and Thompson are amongst the team, we’re gonna have a really strong squad

  13. Think it’s fair to say that a draw was a fair result overall. First half was a non event and I’m still not sure whether Clyde’s goal was a smart finish or just poor judgement of where the ball would go from Muir. Improved considerably 2nd Half and the subs made a massive difference, in particular Salim and Martin. Joffrey had a great debut and personally I would of gave him man of the match. Plenty of positives going into the league season and based on what I’ve seen, there’s no reason why we can’t secure or challenge for a play off spot or more

  14. Good to see that when the squad has been stretched through injuries and suspensions that we can compete very well against higher opposition. Roberts mentioning that we’ll be signing a midfielder this week and we’ll have Regan Thompson available when the league kicks off. Hopefully Jamieson is fit for the Stirling game as he genuinely looks a class act. Buzzing for the season now

Got it wrong again so no surprise there. The changes Murray made to personnel and the positional changes , did not really impress. I don't think Ally Roy looked comfortable being wide left and Hawkshaw was well short as a No 10 which left us weak against a tough and well organised QP. It could have easily been a defeat and yet had Fordyce kept his header down we would have snatched a win. QP actually scored the two best goals and hitting the bar twice in the last five minutes, will mean they will feel they were "robbed". If they play like that in L2 they will be real contenders. Their No 7 had some lovely step overs and was a threat all night. Unless somebody clugs him he could star in L2. I also thought they looked quicker and fitter. As far as we go, it still looks early days and still experimental but we need to move the ball quicker in attacking patterns, not lumping it down the channels. I did hear Murray shouting about playing it to feet but the message was mixed.  I can't remember seeing such a long penalty ending but am pleased we did keep Saturday's game against Hamilton, alive.

Our toughest game in the cup so far against Airdrie. Fair result overall I’d say, both teams look like they might have strong seasons
