  1. Said this more than once, the whole affair shows that the "Partick Thistle media luvvies" tag is totally false. Other than a few podcasts the only "mainstream" journalists who have shown any interest are James Cairney from the Evening Times (who has done a fantastic job) and Graeme Spiers who, err, did a podcast behind a paywall. Not a peep out of anyone else.
  2. Tremendous news following tremendous news. What a great feeling, for once.
  3. Maybe I'm hopelessly naive but this was my take when I saw the news. Here's hoping.
  4. Strange you couldn't tell them apart. Apparently they're completely separate people.
  5. I'm sure it's just a coincidence that the board have waited until our best league position in three years to announce this as well. They know fine well that nobody wants to rock a successful boat.
  6. I never knew I wasn't a fan. Glad the board and the Trust have cleared that up for me.
  7. I thought it was utter w**k and comfortably the worst MCU content. Absolutely zero positives - even the fx looked bad.
  8. I doubt Alex Ferguson is very nimble on his feet these days, wonder whether he'd be allowed an opinion?
  9. Well, here's hoping. Sadly the last ten years of global politics seem to have shown that you can get away with any old shit so long as you're shameless enough.
  10. I'm a nomad these days and don't get to firhill nearly as often as I'd like. But honestly, between Jacqui Low and these Trust chancers I find myself considering walking away for good. If the rest of the fan base just rollover and accept it I think that might be the final straw. Supporting a club like Thistle is done for community reasons much more than for sporting glory and if the Thistle community decides its OK with this sham I'd find it hard to go along with the crowd.
  11. The current model is always going to end up with "the big boys" at the top. Thats what pyramid based systems do. Its what they're designed to do. The best teams end up at the top: and in professional sports the best funded teams will, on average, always end up beating the teams with less funds. Its happened everywhere now. Last season Man City's league record was better than Celtic's. Most leagues everywhere are dominated by the same old faces. Tinkering with league structures won't fix that: if it did then the same shit wouldn't be happening everywhere. The only way to fix it and have true competition would be a radical overhaul. Wage caps, draft systems, squad limits, etc . But I'd wager that 90% of "football people" would absolutely hate it, because thats not how football has traditionally worked. We basically want a purple unicorn: we want to maintain our traditional setups but somehow make them competitive top-to-bottom in a professional context. Those two aims seem to be contradictory to me.
  12. "Is there a potential conflict of interest there? Stewart MacGregor is a football agent and some of his clients are on the books at Partick Thistle. RB That would be one for Stewart MacGregor to answer. I believe that he is acting as Stewart MacGregor, and not Stewart MacGregor of Ark Sports. So the Trust have no concerns over a conflict of interest? RB I don’t think so. Stewart MacGregor, as Stewart MacGregor, has been helping us put together some people to be Trustees. But Stewart MacGregor as director of Ark Sports has nothing to do with the Trust. They are distinct things"
  13. So did anyone manage to get the promised 1:1 with the Trust? Obviously delighted with the result last night but the media coverage reaction - "thistle have this share thing that's upset a few people, but they won so the fans must be united now" suggests to me that there will be zero external pressure or scrutiny put on the board, we're going to have to do it all ourselves.
  14. I've never understood why we don't move the cameras to the main stand. Filming from the JH does, indeed, look pish on the TV.
  15. I'm not confident of "fixing it" unless we somehow get the national media and bigger fan groups interested. The tale is quite convoluted so needs a proper public airing.
  16. Signed up for TJF this evening. Today's twitter action from the Trust is what tipped me over the edge - we need to get our club back. Interestingly my TJF membership number is into the 900s. If they're sequential, that suggests that around 150+ people have joined in the last day or so.
  17. Does the JT actually have any members? (discounting season ticket holders being counted by default) Edit: I don't mean the Jags Trust. I mean this new Ptfc Trust.
  18. What an utter shambles. We need to chase these charlatans out of the boardroom ASAP.
  19. Find myself in the strange situation of actually wanting to buy not one but two Thistle tops this year. Both the home top and the Kingsley tops are belters but as a man who only wears these things to play fives once or twice a month hard to justify splashing out the hundred notes required...
  20. That door swings both ways. Imagine the SNP having the choice of 1) stepping aside to let the Tories walk into government or 2) demonstrate that Scottish votes *do* matter at Westminster after all.
  21. Anyone watching the candidates? The Nepo - Firouja game yesterday was great.
