  1. Listening to the radio is a nightmare. Thought Ukraine had scored there ffs
  2. Happened so quickly Fucking hell...
  3. I for one am ever so grateful for the "strong green lobby" we have here in Scotland. They do such a great job in maintaining our public transport system.
  4. Pretty much my thoughts exactly. I'd have bitten your hand off at the start of the season for finishing in the playoffs the year after being promoted. Clearly there are things to be improved upon but I don't think we should be calling for too many heads to roll at this point.
  5. Thistle's season is over, we're humping and there's absolutely no way we're getting through the playoffs. Ordinarily I wouldn't be bothered if we missed out altogether - it would give the team longer to prepare for next year - but I'd prefer if the odious Sim and McGlynn at Rovers had their seasons ended too so on that basis I'll reluctantly accept Thistle scraping a win here followed by embarrassing ourselves against Inverness in the playoffs.
  6. I'd love them to piss off but unless they go out of business they'll still be in Scotland, still hoovering up the media coverage and dominating the commercial landscape. If you think we get treated as a tin pot league now wait until the perceived "big boys" aren't even a part of it. Kids in Inverness and Fife will still stoat about in Rangers* tops and the two sisters will still dominate the football coverage. The difference is that they'll be talking about whether they should have had a penalty vs Burnley rather than vs St Johnstone.
  7. Deserving a second chance because he's part of the Raith family is rhetoric I've heard somewhere else recently. Perhaps someone could remind me where that might have been.
  8. Should there have been more outrage when he signed for Clyde? Yes. We should probably all be a bit embarrassed there wasn't more. But since none of us own a time machine maybe we should stop talking about Clyde in 2017 and get back to Raith Rovers in 2022.
  9. I've long wondered if it was something about football that made managers become walking books of clichés, or whether you have to be that type to make it.
  10. "Soundbites followed by shite implementation" is the Sturgeon Government's mantra, isn't it?
  11. Apparently some (new?) posters appeared and accused another poster of something serious and so the mods have hidden it till they sort it out. f**k being a mod on a day like this!
  12. Strongly suspect that loads of people didn't actually pay any attention to either the case, or the judgement. They'll have seen the words "civil case" and "payout" and just assumed that he'd been a bit naughty and that was the end of it. Suspect some of his pals and teammates remained wilfully ignorant. Would be natural to try and bury your head in the sand if it was one of your pals.
  13. "team in middle of Scottish championship isn't brilliant", to the shock of absolutely nobody. Suspect our nine points, nine goals, and zero conceded in three games against Ayr might lessen the blow for us Jags a bit though.
  14. The Scotsman going in two footed in the rest of that article, good stuff. [Raith Rovers] added that the ruled rapist’s ‘footballing ability’ was there ‘foremost consideration’ in the decision Ooft, wiggle out of that one.
  15. Here's the relevant quote, in case it gets paywalled [Val McDermid] said: "When the subject first came up in local newspapers, I raised it with a board member last time I was at a game. "The chief executive of Raith Rovers looked me straight in the eye and said, ‘The club has no interest in Goodwillie whatsover. I agree with you, we shouldn’t sign someone like that.’ "Next thing I know, she’s negotiating his transfer so that’s the kind of people we are dealing with here.”
  16. You'd have thought so. I'd almost - almost - welcome him taking the club to the cleaners for that. They'd deserve it.
  17. I think I'd have a more sympathetic view for the "there wasn't this much outrage when he signed for Clyde..." posts if the underlying tone was "... And we should all be ashamed of that" rather than "... So just let him get on with it".
  18. Anyone there either doesn't know who Goodwillie is or doesn't give a f**k. Anyone disgusted by Goodwillie almost certainly isn't there.
  19. Despite being a Thistle fan, Rovers are actually my local senior club (how a good Glasgow boy ended up in a cesspit like Fife is a story in itself) and joking aside, everything I'd seen and heard suggested that they were a decent community club, the kind of place where I might want to take my own kids - if you're going to torture kids with shitey lower league football adding on three hours of commute time to the bargain probably breaks the Geneva convention. So, all that said, even with zero emotional ties to Raith I still feel like I dodged a fucking bullet by not taking that plunge yet. Trying to explain to them why we weren't going back would be impossible. f**k knows how actual Rovers fans feel right now. Absolutely gutted and simultaneously furious for you lads and ladettes.
  20. That's a remarkable phrase that on its own should have any decent humans left in Starks considering their options.
  21. Speaking as a self-confessed lily-livered woke type, I absolutely believe in rehabilitation. Thing is, I also believe in living in the real world and not allowing hypotheticals to cripple you. Firstly, rehabilitation requires remorse, which Goodwillie by all accounts has never shown. Secondly, football clubs just aren't normal businesses. Their values are integral to their existence. People go to Raith Rovers, and clubs like Raith, for reasons far beyond the normal customer-business relationship. That leads me to the inevitable conclusion - any football club signing David Goodwillie needs it's head examining and deserves everything coming to them. Back in hypothetical land, it's possibly interesting to pose the question of "what's the worst crime I'd be happy for a football player to commit and still be playing football?" but that's a different discussion. Plus, just because I'm not sure where the line is, doesn't mean I can't tell you that unrepentant rape isn't way, way beyond it.
  22. The much bigger worry for them must be the reports that they falsified import paperwork for the US because they were using ingredients that weren't cleared by the US authorities. The owner being a sleazy bellend won't surprise many people, like you say.
