  1. Wayne Rooney asks to be relieved of his duties as Derby County's manager - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/61932150.
  2. Overton was extremely lucky that the Kiwis did not review the LBW howler from the umpire. Wagner was confident and he should have been given out. Bairstow was dropped on 27 by Wagner off his own bowling. Without those lucky breaks, England would have been in deep shit.
  3. Having a medical and signing for Hartlepool United. Hope the move works out for him. Hartley has signed Tumility too. I'd have taken him as well as McMillan.
  4. Ryan Fredericks has left West Ham and signed for Bournemouth on a free transfer. Parker obviously rates him higher than Moyes did.
  5. Ryan Fredericks has left West Ham and signed for Bournemouth on a free. He's still eligible for Scotland but makes too many defensive mistakes imho. Hopefully, Moyes will now give Ashby more game time this season.
  6. Do we need a third Thistle again? I remember when we thrashed the Ferranti (aka Meadowbank) version in the Scottish Cup. Surely the `Edinburgh board could have come up with something more original. How about Edinburgh Saltires?
  7. Doubt there was any market research, just a boardroom discussion that ended up with Edinburgh FC or FC Edinburgh. Thankfully, it's not Edinburgh Thistle! Btw, who owns the rights to the Meadowbank Thistle name? Livingston?
  8. A non-scoring striker who has been out injured recently is a typical Thistle signing. We have had a few in recent seasons.
  9. Surprised that Niang, if he 's not injured or about to leave, was left out of last night's squad. McCall gave him a new contract but hasn't given him a chance in midfield, his best position. It could have been worth giving Sena some game time to stimulate interest from other clubs. Disappointing!
  10. Newcastle have agreed a deal with Burnley for Nick Pope. That will be a great signing, better than Henderson or Johnstone.
  11. How many games did he play for you? Around a dozen IIRC in a rotten side that was relegated? That's why he's only on trial. If McCall wants him, you will get what what you deserve, not very much if anything.
  12. Gundogan and Jesus are likely to leave City this summer. Pep needs to sell to raise cash for a CB and LB so Mahrez could be sold too. Ziyech and Werner may leave Chelsea.as they have other forward options in addition to Pulisic. Broja impressed on loan at Southampton. Hudson-Odoi was looking good when he got injured. If Tuchel wants to replace Lukaku, there is a buy-back clause in Abraham's contract at Roma. He'd be better value than Sterling.
  13. Don't forget Danny Willett who is also from Sheffield.
  14. I was amazed at how calm he was after Zalatoris missed that putt His caddie Billy , understandably after all his years of frustration, went to pieces. Fitzpatrick waited for him to recover his composure before hugging him. True class!
  15. Fitzpatrick will have to honour his clothing and sponsorship contracts. Like Raducanu, his agent will be able to bring in lucrative new and replacement deals. Hopefully, he won't let them distract him. She's been let down by her advisers.
  16. Geraint Thomas wins the Tour De Suisse. It's now clear that, unless Jacobsen gets Covid, Cavendish will miss out on the TdF.
  17. "In an interview with the Belfast Telegraph in 2019, she said she lost her older sister Fiona to cancer in 2016, and that her brother Dara had died from a brain tumour less than year earlier at the age of 35. Her older brother Rory was killed in a road accident when he was just a year old." That is truly tragic. Her poor parents must be devastated. RIP
  18. Apparently there is talk of Hayter and pidcock being the next wave of GC leaders at ineos. I think they'd both be better served at this point looking for one day or week long stage races. I suppose they must hope TGH can become a real GC contender (strange thing to say about a GT winner I know but his career results are solid but no more outwith). Although you've got to think there's a strong chance they'll buy the likes of evanepoel out a contract if they go two years without a GT winner. I don't see Pidock or Evenepoel at GT contenders whilst Pogacer and Roglic are dominating. They are classics riders who could win shorter stage races Hayter has potential (like Pidcock) but Tulett could be the better GT rider of the three. TGH has been used as a domestique since winning the Giro. He must be getting frustrated. Martinez looks to be the real deal.
  19. Bit strange if confirmed. Given Ineos's financial strength, money should not be a factor And there is no guarantee that Bernal will get back to top form quickly. IMO, Carapaz is a better GC contender than Yates and Thomas.
  20. He should take Willie Collum with him. Penalty to Celtic if it's Collum.
