  1. Was also at this tonight. He was outstanding. Death Cab For Cutie at the Barras next.
  2. Thought Thistle played some good stuff for the first 15-20 minutes without ever really threatening, Dundee were absolutely atrocious in the first half. Thought Jakubiak made a difference when he came on, and caused some issues. Second half was awful. We really miss Harry Milne - Hodson was fine but his final ball is crap. Mullen miss at the end was absolutely baffling.
  3. Realised that Yo La Tengo are playing in Barcelona while I'm there, but the gig is sold out. Anyone know if there's a Spanish/European Twickets equivalent that I can keep an eye on?
  4. The club should have held off giving ST holders free bus travel on match days, and instead should have focused on football matters? Very strange take.
  5. Jesse Malin at Stereo tonight, playing Fine Art in full for the 50th time. He’s always great live, but seeing him somewhere that isn’t Tuts will be strange.
  6. Hope that Doolan is actually an interim (at this stage), regardless of how well he does in the next game or two. I reckon most Thistle fans would love for Doolan to be the manager at some point, but he only came in with the youths around a month ago. Would hate for an opportunity of him getting the job being ruined based on doing well for a couple of games, then it going south after that because he wasn’t ready. Similar situation to when Archie got the job right enough, but the team were in a much better place, and Archie had done a fair bit of time with the reserves if I remember rightly.
  7. Blue Rose Code is shite though.
  8. Wouldn’t be surprised if it ended up being solo. The listing has it as the Glory Fires though, so who knows.
  9. This was also my gig of the year. The Felices can be hit or miss, and I couldn’t be fucked at all that night (pretty sure it was a Monday), but they were absolutely outstanding.
  10. Lee Bains III & The Glory Fires playing Broadcast in April. @Savage Henry if you don’t already know.
  11. Mogwai were excellent the other night, as were Bdrmm supporting.
  12. Final top 10 for me: 1. Yard Act - The Overload 2. Carly Rae Jepsen - The Loneliest Time 3. Craig Finn - A Legacy Of Rentals 4. Wet Leg - Wet Leg 5. Gentle Sinners - These Actions Cannot Be Undone 6. Kathryn Joseph - For You Who Are The Wronged 7. Gang Of Youths - Angel In Realtime 8. Katy J Pearson - Sound Of The Morning 9. Just Mustard - Heart Under 10. Lee Bains & The Glory Fires - Old-Time Folks Honourable mentions for Nude Restaurant by 1990s (which would've been in the list if it wasn't recorded 10 years ago), Coyote by Joe Purdy, Being Funny In A Foreign Language by The 1975 and Headlights USA by Gold Star.
  13. 1. Toy Story 2. The Shawshank Redemption 3. The Green Mile 4. The Big Lebowski 5. Reservoir Dogs 6. The Truman Show 7. Catch Me If You Can 8. One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest 9. Grease 10. Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story
  14. The Cure and The Twilight Sad were both next level good the other night.
  15. Nation of Language tomorrow night. First time I’ll have been in the big room at the Classic Grand for about 10 years. The Cure and The Twilight Sad on Sunday though. Cannot fucking wait.
  16. Definitely misogyny. As long as she had a cock and balls, we'd all be absolutely fine with this. Not as if there are any men (definitely not any that go by the name of Gerry Britton) involved that Thistle fans have been calling for the head of as well.
  17. Franz Ferdinand were absolutely excellent at the Hydro the other night. Slick as f**k. Alex Kapranos is a properly brilliant frontman nowadays too. Ever since the FFS shows, he’s come into his own.
  18. Didn’t know that a doc was getting made of this. Also loved the book so really looking forward to seeing this.
  19. Elvana are great fun. Have been involved in gigs with them a couple of times and it’s always a good night out. Absolutely shouldn’t work, but it absolutely does.
  20. Was also at Bob Dylan on Monday night and it was unbelievable. No “hits” and mostly the new record but his band were insanely good and his voice was in good nick, especially considering he’s 81 and a fair bit of the way into a long tour. Next couple of weeks are pretty busy - Franz Ferdinand at the Hydro, Start To End playing Cocteau Twins’ Heaven Or Las Vegas at Stereo and Wild Pink at The Hug & Pint this week, then Beach Bunny and Wet Leg both at SWG3 the following week.
  21. Got a ticket for night 1 of the Barras. Bdrmm as support is fucking brilliant news. Stuart's memoir is a very good read as well. The guy just fucking loves music and getting high.
  22. Went to Kathryn Joseph at Saint Luke's on Saturday. Gig was completely ruined by the bleed of the music being played in the bar next door. Loud enough for Kathryn herself to comment on it from the stage (in good spirit). Annoying as f**k, since she was brilliant, but the intimacy of her set was completely lost. Next couple are Robbie Williams at the Hydro next week, then Bob Dylan at the Armadillo on Halloween. Don't think I've ever seen him in a venue as small as that before, so it should be great.
  23. This made me laugh. Glad The Cure were good too, though. The stuff I've read about this tour has been overwhelmingly positive, and the setlists have all been unreal. Cannot fucking wait for them (and The Twilight Sad) at the Hydro soon-ish.
  24. Craig Finn at Tuts tomorrow night. Gig of the year potential. The last time he played here was insanely good.
  25. I'm a big Beths fan, and don't think the newest one comes close to the others. There are still 3 or 4 really great tunes on there though.
