  1. Jacqui Low pretty much dictated what should be on that banner when she was DMing wee guys on Facebook a couple of months ago. It'll be displayed in Firhill long before fans are back. We are a fucking joke.
  2. Last gig for me was reviewing The Subways and Art Brut at the Garage, saw Pale Honey in Copenhagen the week before that. I have since been to see Supergrass in the socially-distanced arena in Newcastle though, which was good as a novelty.
  3. I see we’ve launched a “Supporter Recognition Award”. Surprised that it’s been put to nominations and not just been given to lifelong fan Colin Weir.
  4. Really gutted about this one. Seen Toots & The Maytals about four or five times over the last 10/15 years and despite his age, was ridiculously energetic (the last time I saw him, he was clearly fucked after the first two tunes, but never let up and his voice was always impeccable). His new record released last month is very good as well. Justin Townes Earle and Toots Hibbert both going within a few weeks of each other is brutal.
  5. Currently reading Jeff Tweedy of Wilco’s autobiography and it’s excellent so far. Recently read Phil Collins’ and despite me hating 99% of his musical output and thinking him to be a total c**t, his book is surprisingly great.
  6. Saw that. An extended version of the stream is getting shown in cinemas as well. Cheers!
  7. I find it ridiculous that “Thistle For Ever” is still an option and at no point has anyone realised that it should be “Thistle Forever”. Good to see that this group are getting into the important issues from the off though.
  8. Not a massive fan of the new single, but I wasn’t a fan of the Western Stars stuff until the full record came out. Regardless, it’s good to get a new Springsteen & E Street Band record this year.
  9. Looked at the Thistle Archive and it's great, even though the random player I got (twice) was Jamie Barjonas. Excellent effort to those involved.
  10. Same here. Managed to order it from Sister Ray. A few other indie shops still have some stock I think.
  11. Colin Weir wanted to own a football club, but without being the figure to which fans directed their ire if/when things weren’t going well, hence Jacqui Low’s involvement. It’s always been made out that this was a lifelong Thistle fan pledging his wealth into his boyhood club out of the goodness of his own heart, but the longer it’s rumbled on, the more it’s become apparent that this was never the case. His legacy will plague the club for years to come.
  12. Absolutely loving the new tune. Hopefully not having to wait too long for a full-length to follow.
  13. Monorail is fantastic, Love Music is decent as well. Some Great Reward in the south side has a fairly limited collection but is a cafe as well so you can grab a coffee while you browse. I’ve heard good things about Mixed Up Records near Kelvinbridge as well, but haven’t been in yet.
  14. This was the first year I’d bought anything in 5 or 6. Like you say, the whole ethos has been destroyed by major labels charging £15/20/30+ for re-releases. Some of the prices were scandalous - the Pink Floyd and John Lennon 7”s were £15 a piece. The Motörhead shaped 7” was £25 and the Gary Numan release (albeit triple vinyl) was £60!
  15. RSD today. Some stuff not as overpriced as it would’ve been in the last few years, don’t know if it’s anything to do with it being spread over three “drops”. Managed to get the Supergrass 10”, Art Brut 7” and the new Craig Finn record with the outtakes from his last three records, which I’ve just finished listening to and loved. Easily one of the best songwriters of all-time.
  16. Thought Cole was excellent when played further forward, but seemed to drop deeper after January and wasn't as effective/chucked it. Played as a central attacking midfielder, he'd definitely be a great signing for a bottom 6 Premiership/Championship team.
  17. Anyone know if there’s a way to watch the Nick Cave solo performance at Alexandra Palace from a couple of weeks ago? Missed it at the time and have been trying to find a stream of it ever since.
  18. Or it could be that he doesn’t want to go into the season with one goalkeeper in the squad.
  19. Nashville Police have stated that it was a probable drug overdose after friends raised concerns when they hadn’t been able to get in contact with him since Thursday. Forced entry to his apartment on Sunday and found him. Horrible.
  20. JTE was always a restless presence onstage (watch almost any YouTube video of him playing live), so I certainly didn't read too much into that. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I can't remember too many concerns with the comments he was making regarding his marriage and writing them off as part of his very dark sense of humour. The sweating profusely was down to a bout of food poisoning, combined with the stage lights at Oran Mor being tremendously warm, if I remember correctly. Not trying to make any excuses for him, and it could well be that he was off his face, but he was incredible that night. In really good spirits, despite some raw chicken (and an absolute weapon who kept interrupting him up the front) threatening to ruin his evening. Unquestionably difficult childhood though, and his addictions were never far away. The Harlem River Blues tour featured some pretty unsavoury stories offstage. I don't think he had relapsed since around 2015/16, but I suppose you never really know. Regardless, it's horrible news that he's passed. He's left a hell of a back catalogue behind him.
  21. Died last night at the age of 38, leaving behind a wife and 3 year-old daughter. Can’t imagine what they must be going through just now. One of my favourite musicians of all-time. Harlem River Blues is a masterpiece, and his most recent record The Saint of Lost Causes was definitely a return to form (although his whole back catalogue is pretty flawless). This one hurts.
  22. Yes, the US legal system is renowned for its fair treatment of rape survivors, particularly when it comes to college sportsmen.
  23. Jacqui Low, an apparent PR guru who has been at pains to rebrand us as "Partick Thistle Family Club", authorises the signature of someone accused of rape on a college campus. What a farce.
