  1. It definitely is far more likely to happen, that's why it would be all the more hilarious if it didn't.
  2. The Celtic fans probably wouldn't be the ones spewing if the other mob were to mount a challenge rather than actually win the title, but there would be plenty of fans of other clubs who would. Just have a read at any Rangers match thread on here from last season where they have won a match they weren't expected to as proof of that, with the game at Firhill where they scored two late goals to win 2-1 being the classic example. The amount of dummies being royally spat out on here after that was hilarious. "Look at they b*****ds celebrating too much"
  3. Nah. I'd much prefer the Celtic meltdown were Rangeds to stop them reaching 10IAR personally. That would be hilarious in my opinion.
  4. That the league needs a strong Rangers and a title race and without a strong Rangers there can be no title race because no other club is capable of seriously challenging for it.
  5. Without a strong Rangers there is no title race, Celtic win it at a canter as they have done now for years. It's that simple.
  6. Rangers are the only club with the resources to realistically challenge and hopefully take the title away from Celtic. Aberdeen have shown on numerous occasions in the last few years that despite finishing second they just aren't capable of mounting a serious challenge, only Rangers can do that.
  7. They are the only club that can seriously challenge Celtic for the title, no one else can. It's not good for the league to have one club running away with it any winning it before Halloween. That, and the fact that this place and others like it will be hilarious with the obsessors spewing about it.
  8. I'd like to wish Rangers all the best for season 2017/18, with the exception of when they play against us. Hopefully they will do very well and challenge for the title, as the league needs a strong Rangers and a title race.
  9. New home kit is cracking, just the way a Motherwell FC home kit should be. I shall certainly be purchasing Hopefully the away will grow on me as the season progresses.
  10. No. We did what we had to do to survive in the grand scheme of things and in the end we did survive. End of story.
  11. It was once a great site, the best place online to keep up to date with the day to day happenings at Motherwell FC but not anymore. Like many similar sites, including this one at times, it's got too many contributors more interested in squabbling with other posters over differing opinions than discussing the actual football. It always had a core of posters who seemed to revel in arguing and in their 'status' on the board. Best avoided imo.
  12. Faddy is the best player I have ever seen us produce and I loved him playing for us early in his career. However the amount of fanboys he has in our support who seem to value him over the club itself is cringeworthy, especially as he has contributed very little during his last few contracts. Too many Motherwell fans still see him as the 19 year old superkid with the red stripe in his hair and attracting interest from big clubs down south instead of what he actually is in 2017. Good luck to him whatever he does next, but it is way beyond time where we consign Faddy to where he belongs, in the past, where he belongs.
  13. Time was definitely right for Ainsworth to move on. His time with us was very much a mixed bag in that when he applied himself he was a genuinely good player capable of doing damage to opponents but sadly more often than not he would disappear on the pitch. His goal at Ibrox in the playoff for 3-0 was the highlight for me, a great move, a great finish and a great moment.
  14. A good interview indeed and it's going to be an interesting and massive summer for us. I always enjoy listening to Alan Burrows and I think it's good that he communicates with the support in the way he does. He gets a lot of criticism, some of it grossly unfair and personal IMO, but he gives his absolute all for Motherwell FC and you know that he loves the club. An absolute dyed in the wool Motherwell diehard supporter and no one can deny him that.
  15. There are too many individuals at Fir Park who have been in a comfort zone for years and it's well past time that they were either shaken right out of it or in the main, moved on. I've said it before but it is absolutely galling to think that esstentially the same core of players, ie. Lasley, Hammell, Pearson, Ainsworth & McManus, who took us to the brink of relegation in 2015 were still playing an active and regular role two years and two managers on. It's very much jobs for the boys at Fir Park and for too long we have allowed the same players and staff to continue in their roles when it's been clear to see that we are getting little in return.
  16. Quite impressed with Robinson's comments about the players celebrating a 3-2 defeat and refreshing to hear from a Motherwell manager because a defeat is never something to be celebrated, especially one at the end of a dismal campaign. The task in hand for Robinson to rebuild the squad this summer is absolutely massive and only time will tell if he is up to it. The average age of the squad must be lowered as he's already acknowledged and the focus should be on blending youth with shrewd business in the transfer market. The class of 2003 (Lasley, Hammell, McFadden and Pearson) must NOT start the new season as registered first team players if we are to have any serious intentions of moving forward as a club and improving next season.
  17. What I want from the club is for us to be as good as we possibly can be and do as well as we possibly can. I have seen no evidence of either this season, or the last few where there has been zero entertainment, a seemingly obsessive desire to re-sign aging ex-players rather than focus on developing our own players via our youth systems and no domestic Cup runs, something which is vital to clubs like ours. In our 'decent' seasons I gave the team the credit they were due but our Cup records during that period under McCall were disgraceful and I look back on that period as a massive missed opportunity for us to actually win something and rid ourselves of this small time mentality that we have. For all we did superbly at times in the league during this period, the Cup failures were a massive black mark against us during that time. I support Motherwell hoping to see us thrive as a club and aim to be the best we possibly can and ultimately, win something.
  18. Thank f**k that season is over. The one and only positive to take from it was that we managed to avoid the drop but I fear that unless we get our rebuilding job absolutely spot on in the summer then we will only be delaying relegation for a year, with Hibs and probably Dundee Utd back in the top flight next season I can see things being pretty grim for us. 2016/2017 has to go down as one of the worst seasons I've ever experienced following Motherwell FC. A dreadful squad full of aging players in their 2nd or even 3rd spell with the club, a manager for the most part who treated the job and the club with contempt, zero consitency, dreadful football, crowds diminishing and out of both Cups at the first hurdle yet again. An absolutely turgid campaign.
  19. McGhee was an absolute embarrassment to himself and the club during his last month at the club, even by his standards. From his ridiculous reaction to the Cup defeat at Ibrox up until the 1-5 Dundee game at the end if February he just seemed determined to ramp up his "Look at me, Look at me" persona tenfold. Regardless of whether we are relegated or not we are well shot of that man.
  20. A poor, cheap, unimaginative and very 'Motherwell' appointment. I could have seen the logic in giving Robinson until the end of this season with a view to looking elsewhere for a permanent appointment in the summer, but I just don't see why we've appointed a guy who has already failed in part of a previous managerial regime and has just been sacked by Oldham for failing there too, on a permanent basis. Appointing a new manager should be an opportunity for the club, but as usual we make it a problem and drag our heels then go for a cheap and totally underwhelming option. Still, best of luck to the guy (because he's going to need it I fear)
  21. Aye it'll be shades of Tommy McLean 20 years ago ditching Raith after a week for Dundee Utd if this happens. As I said, I'll be genuinely surprised if we appoint a manager who is currently at another club and no doubt pay some sort of compensation. I can't remember the last time we did that, (possibly Harri Kampman from Myypa 47 in 1998?) certainly from another Scottish club. Hughes certainly wouldn't be my first choice but I can see him being an appointment in the mould of Terry Butcher or Stuart McCall in that he would be able to get us moving in the right direction for a period of time at least whilst building a decent relationship with the club and the support. It may not work out that way of course. I would certainly take him ahead of Robinson or Valakari to be honest.
  22. John Hughes reported to be the new front runner for the job. I wouldn't be totally against this as he did well at Falkirk and Inverness - to an extent anyway - and seems the type to try and embrace the club he's at and build a rapport with the support, something McGhee certainly didn't do. I'd be surprised though if we appointed a manager who's involved with another club though, god knows when we last did that.
  23. The difference being that Jimmy Calderwood has never been Motherwell manager so hasn't had the chance to run his course or outstay his welcome. I'm really not trying to do anything other than put my point across on this subject. I haven't mentioned Rangers and as far as I'm aware, Jimmy Calderwood has no previous connections with them. If I wanted to reel in the Rangers obsessed moon howlers on this one I'd have touted an Ally McCoist/Barry Ferguson 'dream team'. I don't deny trolling the Rangers obsessors on this forum, but I leave that to Rangers threads whenever I can be arsed. This however - the job of Motherwell manager - is a topic which I actually take seriously.
  24. No I don't. McCall and Butcher have had their time and by the time they left they had more than ran their course and outstayed their times.
