  1. That patronising hipster that tells people they're too stupid to possibly comprehend the incredible cleverness of his genius job, which turns out to be "working for Renault".
  2. I've said before that apologising to that sour old c**t was a sliding doors moment for the labour party. Broon should have stuck to his guns and argued as to why her "legitimate concerns" were no such thing. Instead he went populist and labour lost its last vestiges of being progressive.
  3. Countries full of brown people don't count.
  4. While it does look like the average £/€ rate post referendum is lower than like-referendum, it was low before the vote and is currently higher than it was in 2012. I remember getting €1 for £1 (tourist rates) in about 2007-8. I'd say that there's a very good chance that Brexit has weakened Sterling against the Euro but saying that the impact of Brexit is to make it virtually worthless is hyperbole and just not true. I can't disagree with the general gist of your post though.
  5. I think you're underestimating the importance of winning to the average glory hunter. Most of us could watch our team drawing 0-0 after 85 minutes against a team we should beat and not think much more than "this is a bit shit". One of the cheeks doing that against a bottom six side? They'll be in turmoil about getting a slagging/not being able to lord it over diddies. Their whole worldview is evaporating, they question their place in the world, too emotionally stunted and thick to cope with the shame. The relief when their £10m striker out-jumps a centre half on loan from the conference to score must be immense as the world slots back into place.
  6. Quite disappointed that Hibs signed Boyle tbh. Massive reduction in banter possibilities if he stays fit.
  7. I liked Foster just inventing his own interpretation of the rules and McFadden nodding along. Clearly a deliberate handball though and a second yellow was lenient.
  8. Dog shit is a health risk. Horse shit isn't.
  9. It was always going to be difficult to demonstrate the downside of Brexit. The mainstream Economic forecasts were for reduced growth leading to per capita income of typically 5-10% lower than what it would otherwise have been. Not only is it very difficult to "prove" the counterfactual, it's a concept that seems to be beyond the understanding of a large part of the population and a very long and dull paragraph to read. Also the other side are noisier and have less respect for accuracy so pretend that forecasts were for famines and civil unrest so they can say "remainers were wrong about the famine and civil unrest." That's before the alternative excuses presented themselves.
  10. This is true to a degree but it's the quantification that's not possible rather than determining the direction of the effect. I don't think you'll find anyone except a rabid ideologue like Minford who would say that Brexit is helping at all. Everyone says it makes things worse.
  11. There were losses of about £2.2m after the transfer fees received, but before insurance that'll go through the 21/22 accounts that fills that hole. Dave (and possibly other shareholders) covered the £3.something loss in the previous year by buying shares shares (October /November 2020 in the accounts- presumably cash was covered in the year with soft loans that got partly repaid with ST cash) which pretty much means they know they won't see that again. We do, however have £75m to find for our sexy new stadium so i doubt all fees will go into the playing budget. (not an accountant by the way)
  12. They've missed the £100k St Mirren paid us for Gallagher
  13. Apart from the three we sold for money. I don't think we had a very good squad btw. It had some decent players but was hugely unbalanced. Also, it's hard to argue that a squad with Jack Gurr in it is decent.
  14. I lasted four weeks. Last day it was pissing down in Bellshill, one person had answered the door all day, some local urchins asked me if i was CID (i had a long coat on) and i said yes so they followed me and i was bursting for a shite.
  15. That's Jayden, Hayden and Shayden. Sounds like ned triplets.
  16. Why are people having difficulty with the difference between the quality of a squad and how that squad plays as a team? Either at it or thick as shit.
  17. Aberdeen's signings look to be made at least as much with a view to resale as to contributing on the pitch in the short term. I'd expect us to not perform as well as fees alone might suggest. I'd back us for top six, but no confidence of better than fifth. Hibs have signed some geriatrics and some unknown quantities and are a bit of a random factor. That new manager just has the air of an over-promoted chancer though so i'd guess they'll have an entertainingly erratic and shit season. Hearts have replaced a loan striker that looked above the normal standard for the division with a striker who has demonstrated that he can score for fun in the Scottish championship but not the premier. They won't run away with third this year but will probably still end up there. Jack Ross will ensure utd shitfest their way into the top 5. I reckon it will be at least February before it becomes clear quite how wrong this all is.
  18. Commas before conjunctions. For the love of f**k Good to know that the NI protocol is sorted and Putin's been faced down though. Would have thought that would have been more widely reported.
  19. Jesus. It's interminable. And Boris gets the big salary and Chequers for parties til then.
  20. We don't know who would have been on the post, so any cleared cross from a corner could potentially have been a shot/header on target had the player clearing it been at the post.
