  1. I'm afraid that's Eurocentric bollocks. The middle east has been a central part of the world order since we were in the stone age. The Ottoman were there for years before us and Jewish refugees from persecution were flooding in from Russia and the rest of the Ottoman Empire throughout the 19th century. Zionism as a movement (and arab opposition) was underway well before the western powers turned up. Clearly the british mandates and support for zionism didn't help the situation. I agree we have a lot to answer for. But this wasn't something we created, it was something we made worse. I think the whole thing can be traced back to Joshua smiting the canaanites, with trumpets no less.
  2. I believe standard procedure in the face of such allegations is to cry like a baby for several pages, so i'll go. That's no fair. He's really good.
  3. You're probably right. Escalating the situation from some local riots to a full scale military massacre will undoubtedly stabilise the region. y
  4. My guess Is that swarms of missiles and drones of the sort and in the numbers available to Turkey (a regional power) are unlikely to be available to Hamas. Unless they're being supplied by bigger allies of course but that would be a major escalation in itself. Israel's main defensive tactice is oppression and impoverishment. It's effective but is inhumane and against international norms. Whataboutery about arab culture, which has its problems, won't change that. No idea what you're dribbling about Borat and swimming pools for.
  5. The wages of inappropriate pronouns is death
  6. Rangers to score at least one from Kamberi casually and cheaply giving the ball away.
  7. Maybe i'm being dim, but what's nagorno karabakh got to do with Israel?
  8. Everyone knows that 40 years is the correct arbitrary period to use.
  9. Not quite the same band exactly, although it's hard to tell, but The Parliaments' lo fi leftfield sixties soul classic I Wanna Testify was re-recorded as a full on funk extravaganza by Parliament in the 70s. Edit- here's a more psychedelic rocky version, kind of prototype funkadelic sound, from a time halfway between the two vinyl versions. From 3.05.
  10. Although it's Saturday, impersonating a lollypop man sounds like it has potential for being quite fun.
  11. No, it's a well established fact that Americans are jingoistic and thick, so that sounds about right.
  12. I don't dislike him or think he's shite. I just think he's not quite good enough. I also think that about Kamberi. Haven't seen enough of Hornby to have a fair view. Hopefully he's just said that to keep them interested.
  13. That reminded me of watching This Morning in the 90s, when they did vodka tasting and Judy Finnegan ended up laughing like a maniac and telling an irrelevant anecdote about the kids thinking they'd seen the Loch Ness Monster. I think this has really found its feet this series. Last series felt disjointed but last night was great.
  14. Good. He has some good attributes but doesn't show enough of them consistently. Also his miss against Hibs was shocking. I can sort of see why we took a punt on him but can also see why he's down your pecking order.
  15. Pixies. Wave of mutilation. Fast and slow versions. Both great. Beach boys doing the hang on to your ego version and i know there's an answer lyrics to the same song on the same album was unusual.
  16. The injuries certainly didn't help, but if we'd had a coherent syle/philosophy/plan and a balanced squad going into the season it wouldn't have mattered so much. Squad players could have slotted in the gaps. Also hibs board backing the manager in January by declining offers compared to ours alleged, implied failure to release funds for replacements until the 11th hour pretty much sealed it. I think the January window and playing a back 3 without any actual wing backs along with signing Curtis Main as a main striker are as much to blame as Brown's unpunished assault on Watkins and Hedges injury.
  17. How's this train going, considering he just got skinned by the pacey and tricky, erm... Darren McGregor?
  18. I don't know but Doig scored and we've Chris Woods in goal.
  19. Wanted: Striker Ability to hit coo's erse with banjo preferred
  20. IMO that's irrelevant, they are pedaling a specific line and the reasons behind that are moot. Disagree. If there's no controlling mind behind them they'll all eventually tend towards more populist positions whatever they may be. Completely changes the dynamic. Although it will all be moot in other ways soon enough as the press becomes an irrelevance.
  21. Agree they're definitely not in the same category as the plcs. My first thought when they took over Aberdeen Journals was that at least the parocihialism would be safe.
