  1. The jurisdiction will be whatever spanish law says it is but the actual authority in terms of being able to do anything about it will be pretty limited. I'd guess any assets or possibly (but unlikely) senior or expatriate personnel located in Spain could be put at some sort of risk.
  2. Only ever tried red bull. Tastes like haliborange with a hint of benylin. Foul. Strong coffee on the other hand tastes like it was invented by god for the angels. Trying to cut down again, to no more than two a day (probably triple shot measures). Sometimes though, exceptional circumstances demand more. A long drive would be unsafe and an impending deadline could be missed without it.
  3. Confidently predict that Have I Got News For You will be showing a video of Boris's tackle on Friday evening. There you go Hislop, you can use that cheap innuendo for free.
  4. Or at least one that is willing to go public, yet.
  5. Yes but the criterion for excluding Liverpool isn't just sporting merit (which ewould definitely be fine). It isn't obviously exclusively financial protection (which definitely wouldn't) but it is arguably that. There is no way the US owners have gone into this without an expensive legal opinion.
  6. This is how i assumed that the world cup ban would have been effected. But it does seem like the arseholes intend to stay in their domestic leagues. I guess they've had advice to say that sort of sanction would be a disproportionate restriction. However it ends up, i'm sure it's not cut and dried yet.
  7. We don't have antitrust law. Too much American telly. That's the problem here.
  8. But won't they still be registered with member associations for domestic competitions?
  9. I was wondering what the competition law position might be for fifa restricting International eligibility. Sounds like it might not be feasible for them to do this (in the EU and UK anyway). It sounds like that the reasons Real Madrid's chairperson /ceo/ presidente has been giving for setting the shitshow up in the first might also stop them restricting access to other clubs though. From a lawyer's website, dated middle of last year: "The publication of the final version of the ISU decision allows further insight into the assessment that the European Commission will conduct when reviewing the compatibility of eligibility rules with the competition rules. In particular, it is clear that, in setting their eligibility rules, sporting bodies and event organisers must ensure that their eligibility rules are based only on legitimate objectives (explicitly excluding their own economic interests) and that the eligibility rules are inherent and proportionate to achieve those objectives." The basic idea is that all sports organisations would be breaking competition law by organising collision if there wasn't a special exemption. But that only applies where there are sporting reasons to collude. This will be a lucrative time for sports lawyers.
  10. Only 140m euros? Pfft. I do see your point though. But it assumes that non permanent ESL clubs stand still. They might.
  11. Maybe. Jp Morgan isn't the only source of money though. Maybe the smaller field in the Champions league encourages the next Sultan of Brunei to buy Ajax, or some ex kgb kleptocrat plough a couple of bn into Celtic. Maybe qatar up PSGs budget because they can. Maybe US based businessy owners are more interested in dividends than competing with vanity project superstar wages.
  12. It might be. Not sure about easily more prestigious though. All tbe best teams are not in it. Some are. The guaranteed presence of Spurs, Arsenal and Athletico Madrid makes it all a bit Europa leaguey. Players might not be that keen if it harms their wc chances. And they're apparently talking about a wage cap, so psg etc could maybe pay more. My guess is it's a stalking horse to get a two division champions league, with probably some continuity that doesn't depend on domestic placings. As someone who hasn't watched the champions league in about 10 years, and has just had to look up what teams are currently in the EPL, this all feels very remote, club wise. I am genuinely concerned about a split governing body for international tournaments though. Although on the brightside, we could end up with a Scotland xi holding the equivalent of a WBA interim world title, which would be nice.
  13. I think this is probably the issue though. This cartel might not want Uefa to have a share.
  14. I hadn't realised they were staying in the EPL la liga and serie A. Is it certain that can happen without a full on boxing/ darts style schism? Presumably Uefa can just close the door to those leagues for its competitions?
  15. Good shouts. Never knowingly heard Rush or Drake. Kanye West is ok, Gold digger made me laugh when someone (probably charlie brooker) had it as a soundtrack to a short tv item on the people's princess. I'd a mate who thought Jeff Buckley was the bees knees but i still haven't got round to checking his stuff out., myst be 25 years on.
  16. Unless the 12 clubs have some sort of egalitarian measures between themselves, like the draft systems in the States, this sounds like it could get stale fairly quickly. Thing about glory hunting plastic wanks is that they like to see their team mostly win. They're not going to have south coast seaside resorts and northern mining towns to look good against. How many will stick with Arsenal (for example) after their second winless season in a row?
  17. Never done Bungee jumping, skydiving or ski jumping. Never eaten snails or frogs' legs. Never killed a man who didn't deserve it.
  18. Hope Celtic win a draining 120 minutes despite several injuries today and really don't care about the league in midweek.
  19. I haven't seen sportscene yet but it will have to go some to be as shit as premier sports coverage.
  20. Absolutely. Two all draw with livi is only half the story. They're a bitch of a team to go a goal down to.
  21. That was as close as it gets. I'd only give Considine and McGinn pass marks put of the starting 11. 2 Craig Brown signings repurpose for hitting on the counter, i like where this goes.
  22. Decent cup tie. Fraught. Pished. Through. Yass
  23. They can play as well though. They're not hearts
