  1. Having a goal disallowed is quite clearly a disbenefit, aka "a cost". We are in a worse position than we would have been had it not been disallowed. The Goal was disallowed by the VAR system. It was correctly disallowed. But it was disallowed by VAR. Had there not been VAR, the goal which was awarded and not flagged as offside would have stood. VAR has therefore cost us. Dur
  2. A goal that the referee allowed and the linesman didn't flag offside was ruled out after the vidoe assistant referee team reviewed it and concluded it was offside. I'm surprised you didn't notice.
  3. There's a T junction at the bottom of the hill with two lanes to go right, into two lanes on the main road. There's then a well used filter left for the left turn off the main road and the next junction is a busy left turn too. So the left hand lane is always busier with a longer queue. This is like a flame for the evoque/ Audi/bmw moth, who thinks "queue short, me go first, me like short queue. Me clever." There's something life affirming about watching a diverse group of strangers spontaneously cooperate to not leave any gaps and pretend not to notice the raging, indicating twat stopped in the right hand lane. Some b*****d always cracks and spoils it though.
  4. Hezbollah cross border skirmish last night. The West Bank has been increasingly tense in the lead up to this with settler mobs attacking palestinian areas and killing a few of them, while the army stand back and only intervene to stop the Palestinians fighting back. Reports of increasing Hamas support there. Not saying Hamas are taking over or anything, but it's hardly a stable situation and i wouldn't bet on it staying contained. Bashar's probably bored now that the war's over. Might fancy a bit of a rammy over Golan heights.
  5. I responded on a work message group, using the thread title verbatim, to the following question "who's up for the charity bingo?"
  6. St Johnstone didn't look as doomed as i thought they might. Better than County were. Another shite performance. We're going end up bottom half of the bottom half if we keep this up.
  7. "Hamas Terrorist" isn't a race. There might be a dog whistle there but it's not an unequivocal assertion of racial superiority.
  8. Hamas are already taking hostages while the Israelis take prisoners.
  9. How come Baccus is starting for you lot? I thought he wasn't nearly as good as Boyd Munce and wouldn't start when everyone was fit? Anyway, good luck against the forces of darkness
  10. On both sides i think. West Bank settlers have been increasingly cunty for a while and this feels like a catalyst for retribution there.
  11. I thought we played the full range from shite through mediocre to well yesterday. First half was ok but not adventurous enough. Twenty minutes after half time was pathetic. We had a couple of quality moves when we were chasing a winner. Fucked it though. Must win game that we should have won.
  12. If our defence had stayed awake we'd have won that. Another horrible goal to lose and almost a carbon copy of one against hibs.
  13. Did my monthly weigh in a couple of days ago. 15 1/2 stone, so down 12 pounds in September. Particularly pleased with that cos i wasn't running for three of those weeks (injured, not slacking). Got into 36 inch trousers at the end of August, so down a foot in a year. NHS bmi calculator says i'm obese at 5'11", but only overweight at 6'. It doesn't do fractions and i'm 5'11 1/2. Rounding up is correct isn’t it? If it is, i'm officially down to "fat c**t" from "big fat c**t", which i'm quite happy with.
  14. He did also explain that the budget will be reinvested in more local and cross country upgrades in the North (of England, actually roughly the middle). That makes sense for two reasons. One, this is what transport and economic geeks were saying all along would give the best returns. Two, no one at the national papers or the BBC will even notice when the Blackburn to Lancaster extension gets shelved, followed by the Leeds to Liverpool mainline being cancelled. All that "taxpayers" money can be shovelled into IHT cuts and more donor kickbacks with much less fuss.
  15. The worst thing about this whole Abercrombie and Fitch thing is it giving me earworm of some half remembered one hit wonder radio shite from the 90s rhyming it with "Chinese food makes me sick".
  16. Going to the toilets for a lie down is no less weird than going in them for a bath. Americans can't say "toilet" yet we're the repressed ones? Go figure*. (American for "what's that all about?")
  17. Not sure how VAT on the fees will be less red tape. Education services are currently exempt from VAT. Not all education services are currently provided by private schools. The legislation and admin involved in deciding whether, for example a private sixth form college should be treated more like the local FE college or more like Eton, is going to be every bit as tricky as a bit of primary legislation that prevents private education and associated services qualifying for charitable status. For me, this isn't a fiscal issue. It's about fairness and privilege and not having the state support structural, intergenerational inequality. That is, it's largely symbolic. Keir Thatcher does not want to oppose inequality.
  18. Two weeks ago I had the 27th pencilled in for joining the Robson out campaign, fully expecting a proper doing in Germany, a dire home performance and a cup exit. None of those happening was unexpected enough, but an emphatic win at Ibrox was really surprising. Limp defeat to the Finns incoming.
  19. Labour plan to introduce tectonic subduction zones.
  20. Ha. Looks like the mind control chips are working. You're vaccinated right?
  21. There's not many things would make me disown my kids https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-politics-66984728
  22. Recommended serving sizes are pure fantasy. Quality Street say 2 sweets is a portion so they don't have to point out that eating half a tub is a week's calories and about a pint of oil.
