  1. The triple lock is not that great for current pensioners. It's an incremental increase on an already low sum. A proper upwards shift on a one off basis without triple lock protection, say just CPIed, would be more of a bung to a Tory demographic. If it stays in place, the people who benefit most will be those who are joining the labour force now. Big if there.
  2. Obviously four is the only acceptable amount. Two's not enough, six is too many and an odd number is out of the question. There were five of the 80s skinhead gang though, so maybe five is the acceptable amount. I wouldn’t have a weetabix for breakfast nowadays though but they'd be ok for lunch.
  3. Very happy with the score and the performance after the first half hour or so. Fortunately they didn't take their chances early on and we did. Rangers were tactically inept. Couple of times they moved the ball across the pitch quickly they were in almost unopposed around the sides but they kept trying to play through the lines, which just got less and less effective as we got better at dealing with it. Our defence looked better, but still vulnerable. Clarkson, Shinnie, McGrath and McKenzie all conteders for MoTM for me. Honourable mention for Scott Wright's hilarious cameo.
  4. A European thumping is possible. The rest is the crazed rambling of a lunatic who's lost touch with reality.
  5. I reckon we're going to get a point here. Early red for Rubi (or Shinnie, whatever) followed by a back to the wall shitfest, with 15 mins injury time.
  6. On the subject of shortening days, only another couple of months of the anodyne observation that "it's getting dark earlier" like it's a massive surprise
  7. I cut a load of branches off a tree in the garden. I started off with just cutting the grass every so often, then got into a bit of pruning. I think i can keep a lid on it but it's easy to see how the search for an ever increasing buzz can get out of hand and lead to this sort of thing.
  8. Test 10 was a bit of a pisser. Imagine getting deported for not knowing which wives some guy executed five hundred years ago. Andy Murray must have turned shit at tennis because he’s back to being Scottish
  9. I didn’t read that as a criticism of immigrant communities, but of British society. There have been failures to tackle grooming gangs that were found to have been failures in part because of a fear of causing offence. Those were failures of UK institutions to deal appropriately and impartially with a crime. Those failures do feed in to the narrative in the lopsided reporting that political correctness has gone mad.
  10. Does labour currently have any policies or firm plans for policies that could be described as “left wing”?
  11. Working from home and on a work video call with a client and a colleague, trying to undo some damage done by my own incompetence, and it was going quite well and just wrapping up with some small talk. The wife had been out and starts shouting at me on her way through the front door then barges into the room still shouting, so i indicate clearly "1 minute". But that's not quick enough apparently and i need to be shouted at while she flashes the light on and off to get my attention. Turns out there was a life threatening sit.. Oh no, hang on.. turns out there wasn't anything that couldn't have waited a minute. Or till the evening in fact. Anyway, whatever it was hasn't stopped her going to her work. Which is nice.
  12. If any inventors are reading, this task needs a 2" hoop on a stick with a pre attached johnny (lubed, but no spermicide needed) rolled around the hoop. We can then simply shit through the hoop, tie off the end and stick a second class stamp on. I don't want any royalties for this but there's only a few years to go before i need the jobbyjohnny tm, so get on with it please
  13. She's right, people shouldn't be able to claim asylum simply because they're fearful of discrimination. They also shouldn't be able to claim asylum simply because they like HP sauce and you can't get proper sausages abroad. Or because forin telly is rubbish. Nobody's saying or has ever seriously said otherwise. File alongside Rishi withdrawing the rules requiring seven recycling bins and compulsory car sharing. Next up in the Tories' dog whistle strawman campaign, Michael Gove to withdraw the ban on mentioning Christmas.
  14. It should. Jail for nicking a bottle of water during the riots vs being slightly scolded for looting hundreds of millions through hooky contracts but it doesn’t
  15. It can be a real thing for some people while being a flimsy excuse for other people.
  16. It would appear that four out of five of these decisions were highly debatable and inconclusive even after days of tearful posts of grainy stills and mobile phone footage. The evidence all points in one direction, and having performed a regression analysis corroborated by a chi squared test i can confirm that St Mirren fans are indeed disproportionately likely to be in urgent need of getting their hole.
  17. Depends what regiment. The horse guys would be trotting about with their shiny helmets, logistics would be going about in big artics and the engineers would be putting up bridges and stuff. I'm not really a military expert though. So long as people get shot, that's the main thing.
  18. Good shout. Also mentions Forth at the same bit and a punning mention of Forties in the following line too- if we're counting hypothetical maritime EEZ as part of Scotland for this purpose. Also The Race by Yello, Faslane and Nairn. (sorry for that last bit)
  19. Good luck! Butter plus peanut butter sounds grim irrespective of the calories. Nutella plus peanut butter is where it’s at. Or used to be. Probably not the right thread for encouraging Nutella. anyway, good luck!
  20. I thought of that but thought it was even less likely than what I said. never heard of it
