The thing is some people have received initial responses from clubs saying they are happy to discuss it properly in the near future and will get back shortly. I have yet to hear anyone reporting they have had the discussion though. At the end of the day, clubs either already are or soon will be chasing for season ticket renewals. They need to keep supporters interested considering how much of their income comes from gate receipts.

Finally got a reply earlier this week after I responded to a season ticket renewal reminder email saying I was very reluctant to renew given the impact of VAR. Not much said other than the club would be involved behind the scenes in shaping the future of VAR. I went back saying tweaking wouldn’t cut it.

Worst thing to happen to the game in my lifetime. Thankfully we didn’t have much to play for today but it has taken all the enjoyment out of attending games for me. Decision not to go justified.

Haha. My first email was constructive. The second one slightly less so but mainly just mentioned Motherwell’s statement and the lack of engagement with fans over the issue.

I didn’t get any reply to either of my emails. Perhaps I used the wrong tone or sent it to the wrong emails.

I hear there were a couple of “incidents” again today. Thankfully we only had a couple of checks in our game today which came to nothing.

The issue the clubs have here is that even if say 50% of fans liked VAR (and I think the figure is lower), I can’t see it attracting anyone new to start attending but it is certainly likely to put folk off.

I am not exactly the best with words but I have emailed both my club and Sportsound.

That was kind of why I suggested a petition in order to have something to share around social media etc.

No doubt the response will be to “tweak” VAR but I honestly don’t think I have seen a version of it anywhere in the world which fans will consider ok.

Just fired off another email to Aberdeen calling for fans to be surveyed before any decision on the future of VAR.

Would a petition using some of @Davis Love III’s excellent wording be possible? I don’t know particularly how these things work.

Interesting. It is certainly the opposite of “light touch” in reality. It only takes one club coming out saying they have consulted their fans and no longer support VAR to put the pressure on others to do thr same. Ultimately It might fail obviously but nothing to lose.

Out of interest, did you receive any form of response and if so, what method did you use to contact them? I emailed without a reply.

won’t be renewing my season ticket and aberDNA donations unless I see my club publicly calling for the end of VAR. it is having too much impact on my enjoyment of attending the football.

Would some sort of petition be worth a go given the strength of the feeling? Unlikely to work I know.

If it means we can get back to celebrating goals and doing the things which made attending the football so popular in the first place, then yes I absolutely would accept “errors.”

Have never understood the argument that it is not VAR but the people operating it. Have also never understood the idea that VAR makes watching games on tv more entertaining. Shows how out of touch with the fans the pundits are.
