Did Rovers really overspend last year, sure I read they had trimmed budget by 50% or so from previous years. I don’t fancy Rovers to get double points with the signings so far

I thought Perry was way better than Marr, and seemed to be a target unfairly for boo boys anytime I watched the Rovers last year. Come 4 games into season you’ll be longing for the days of Perry once you see the Junior dross that’s being signed now

Heard rumours of player revolt caused the parting at Wishaw. this appointment still seems unbelievable, people in the junior game are still stunned at this, especially given the names linked. Did nobody want the job and he was last man standing ?

Couldn’t agree more. And Rovers don’t have the fan base or infrastructure to bounce back. I fear this could be the biggest gamble ever. When Rovers were down bottom of league in years gone by there was no pyramid system.

Don’t doubt any of above , but signing a manager who’s not been in senior league for 22 years is not the way to go IMO . I’ll be surprised if there is an Albion Rovers in 2 years. Club is going downhill fast. if the manager keeps to his word and signs Junior players then he’ll get relegated. Not a single senior player has resigned due to the way club is going

Surely the problem is that they’ve appointed someone who doesn’t have the qualifications for the job, does that not tell you something about the board. They’ve now had to get him to start coaching badges at the ripe old age of 64-65? It’s bonkers. Theyre already talking budget cuts in the advertiser so have they clarified who’s paying for badges? Is it coming out of playing budget as the club have made a boob? They advertised the job on twitter without a mention of licence requirement. They’ve either made a cock-up of advert or they already had him in mind. Hope he does well but fear it could be disastrous. Rovers can’t afford to go down to Lowland league which is a real possibility

That must be a relief. Still a questionable appointment. The qualifications are there for a reason, and if papers are to be believed then amazed he’s got the job ahead of some of the names mentioned. Time will tell, however people in the juniors are in shock at this to say the least.

Absolute shambles , who appoints a manager without the required qualifications, could understand if a young ex player going through badges as imagine would get exemptions, but someone near retirement. Surely there will be a club statement confirming this isnt the case as any sanctions will hit Rovers hard. The revenue that the Linfield game would have generated could have been the difference between being able to sign an experienced goalkeeper which would have kept them in league 1.

Dalglish was the star in a Liverpool team that dominated Europe in the days where top teams had to win the league to get in European Cup not just finish 4th. jimmy Johnstone by all accounts was world class, as could Bobby Murdoch be classed as well. Being in an U21 squad and having 5 or 10 games isn't good enough. These boys should have 30 or 40 games under their belts.

Because they're inexperienced and managers aren't being given time to allow kids to get used to playing in first team. probably a lot to do with fans who get on managers backs constantly and who want ball played/lumped forward. Then go home and slaughter them on here and even that's after slaughtering them on twitter.

One of the best posts ever on p&b one thing though, how does this square when the likes of Rangers go out with team full of foreigners who learn all above?? Agree with most , but blame a lot down to senior managers acting like above parents and not giving the good youngsters we do produce game time at top level. Good ball players need to play at top level as they often get kicked out lower leagues. kids need to be given a chance, can't do any worse than crap Rangers fielded
