  1. These sort of double headers often seem to result in a win and a defeat. However, forgetting about the Celtic run of games a few years ago, I can remember getting 2 home wins against Celtic in the 90's and, more recently, 2 against Dundee United. Much as losing the league game would be a sore one with the run we're on I'd probably take a win in the cup game over the 3 points. Winning both would be lovely but I just don't see where our goals are coming from.
  2. Oh dear, I'm worried now as I went to the same school as Derek Ferguson. Fortunately they've since knocked it down and built houses on the land.
  3. The coverage was dreadful. I was hoping for some mini-Open All Mics which they could easily have done. Instead I got full on Celtic then Rangers coverage with the only updates from the other games being goals or red cards. No discussion on how the games were generally going or missed chances which really wouldn't have taken much effort.
  4. Yeah, looks like you're right and St. Mirren won 1-0 with Godfrey scoring. It was only 33 years ago! (God, I feel old).
  5. I'm confused- that looked like 3 goals for us in the highlights or was the ball that bounced down from the bar not over the line? Looked well over.
  6. Was that not his home debut (he headed against the bar midweek at Celtic on his debut) and he had us 2 up within 10 minutes? It all went downhill from there.
  7. Ah, memories of a midweek game and an altercation between Stevie Kirk and Billy Abercrombie for which they both got sent off (allegations of spitting by Kirk). Abercrombie refused to leave so the ref sent him 4 times and he ended up with a 12 game ban. Helped liven up a fairly drab (1-1 draw (IIRC).
  8. Couldn't complain about the steepness of that stand! If anything it could be a bit dodgy walking down the steps to your seat.
  9. Thanks. It turns out she has a family member works at the Edrington place in Drumchapel. Guessing she got it through him. Much appreciated Christmas present anyway.
  10. For that antiquated feel with restricted legroom and ancient toilets? At least it would save them the hike round to the South Stand.
  11. Winners of the replay will be at home to Aberdeen or Kilmarnock.
  12. You'd have been ok, Motherwell fans don't swear. [emoji6]
  13. I recorded Sportscene last night and have just watched the highlights. Didn't realise how close both teams came to scoring at the far end and we could easily have conceded a penalty for handball.
  14. To be fair you could have said the same about our game against Celtic on Wednesday. Putting visiting supporters into stands with the home support is a logistical nightmare and pisses off the home support which is why we decided to stop housing Old Firm fans in the Main Stand last season. We had the strange situation a few seasons ago when we drew Hearts at home, made the away stand all-ticket and Hearts managed to sell their allocation. By the time the match was played we were in the middle of a spell of snowy weather with warnings not to travel and we had a dreadful support (not helped by the match being live on tv) whereas Hearts filled the away stand as they'd already bought their tickets. Similarities yesterday as I'm not sure as many would have gone through with that weather forecast. At least we got a last minute winner against Hearts (somebody show Carl McHugh' s screamer please).
  15. To be fair, he didn't get that much of a chance to do much else as we made him redundant a few months later. And yes, he probably should have had a fourth.
  16. Looked fairly accurate to me. I was surprised Saints had less than 3000 there though (but not commenting too much- who knows how many we'll get to turn out for a midweek replay!).
  17. Just back home. Pretty poor fare all round, not helped by the weather but a draw was fair. Ah well, on to the replay.
  18. Pretty even first half. Down to who takes their chances and we took one. Wind getting up and could make a big difference to second half (in St. Mirren's favour).
  19. What about Hladky's saves? Do they not count? Poor, scrappy game with the ball bouncing about. Surprisingly low key atmosphere for the attendance- shit game not helping.
  20. He's with a Greek club and it looks as though their season finishes on the 1st of March but he signed a 2 year deal.
  21. When was the last time Watt played? I'd be surprised if he starts tomorrow, think we'll start with same 11 as Wednesday.
  22. Not as excited as everyone else seems to be but nothing to lose I suppose (other than a few months wages).
  23. Has there really been a condescending attitude from Motherwell supporters? None of us brought up home crowds or suggested we had a big support - it's simply been a case of supply and demand for tickets for the away stand. I assume St. Mirren would take more than 1600 fans to Fir Park for a cup game, it's just we have a ludicrously over-sized away stand to suit occasions like last night. We also tend to have a much larger than normal away support for cup games. Unfortunately we don't tend to do well in these away cup games with a large travelling support which is why most Motherwell supporters have posted that a defeat is sadly all too predictable. In terms of the game itself, we seem to have lost the scoring touch. Losing James Scott won't help us either as he's already scored 3 goals against St. Mirren this season. Hopefully Aarons didn't completely run himself into the ground last night as he looks as though he has something about him.
  24. Hylton looked nervous from the start and snatched badly at an early shot but strangely had the beating of his man when he got going- just didn't look confident enough in what he was doing. Robinson went nuts at his second half back heel and I'm sure he would have been off if Aarons was match-fit. Hopefully he gets his confidence back in time for Saturday as he still looks better than Seedorf.
